Deianira's POV
Merida's shadows clashed with mine, creating explosions of darkness that shattered streetlights and sent cars sliding across the pavement. The lycans moved as a pack, trying to flank me, but I was everywhere and nowhere at once, dissolving into shadow only to reform behind them, beside them, above them.
"You think you can contain me?" I laughed, sending a wave of shadows crashing into the house across the street. The windows exploded inward, and I heard the delicious sound of screaming from inside. A family of four came tumbling out their front door, the father carrying a toddler, the mother dragging an older child by the hand.
They took one look at the scene, lycans the size of horses, two women wielding living darkness, bodies on the ground, and their screams reached a pitch that made me smile.
"MONSTERS!" The father's voice cracked as he ran, not even knowing which direction was safe. "THERE ARE MONSTERS!"
