Chapter 85 - 85: Dying minute

Landon's POV

I was surrounded by men. Numerous men. Men I knew it was impossible for me to defeat. Impossible even for my massive wolf, the wolf I had once been so confident in, so sure that with it I could overthrow my father.

But staring at the countless warriors gathered around me, I knew it would do nothing to save me now. Not when I had already known part the reasons why I was ambushed.

"Why is he so big?" one of them whispered to another, his hand trembling as it clutched his sword under the moon's pale light.

I remembered trembling like that too, the first time I had transformed, staring into the mirror at the beast I had become. My father's wolf had never been this massive. Neither was Elizabeth's, though she bore the blood of an Alpha wolf herself. It had left me confused, lost, with no one to ask. So I had chosen to shift as little as possible. Pretending I had no wolf at all had always been safer… especially when I could never control when the shift came.
