Adrian's POV
I clutched the urn containing Nanny Brielle's ashes tightly as I sat at the front of the funeral home, my eyes sunken and hollow from days of endless crying.
Holding this memorial service for her hadn't been easy. Convincing Father to allow her body to be cremated had been even harder.
Nanny Brielle had been an omega. And for her kind, there was no honor in death. Their bodies were tossed into bushes or abandoned in the forest, left for the birds of the air and the wild wolves to tear apart.
Only a rare few were ever buried and even then, it was done in secret and hidden from the Alpha's knowledge.
I was fortunate, if "fortunate" could even be used, that Father had permitted me this much. That he had allowed me to hold this service, even though only omegas and servants dared attend. They had come to wail and mourn her and now, as the last of them trickled away back to Crimson Moon, I sat here with nothing but the ashes in my arms and the ache in my chest.
