Chapter 9 - The queen's tears

Chapter 9 Onyi's POV

As days passed I grew more comfortable in the palace, thanks to Amanda's guidance. She showed me around, introducing me to the staff and explaining the intricacies of pack life. I was fascinated by the dynamics of the werewolf community and Amanda's patience with me was endearing.

But today was different. Amanda had been summoned for pack training and I was left alone in our chambers.

I cautiously wandered around the palace, feeling bored. The grand halls and ornate rooms were beautiful, but without Amanda, they seem empty.

As I strolled down the corridor,I heard a faint sound. It was a soft whisper followed by a sob. I followed the sound and find myself standing outside a room with the door slightly ajar. I pushed it open gently and peeked inside.

My eyes widened when I saw the queen kneeling, holding a picture frame. She was crying her shoulders shaking with each sob. I felt a pang of surprise and concern. Who was this person in the picture that causes the queen such distress.

The queen's words were barely audible, but I caught snippets of what she was saying.

"I didn't mean to,..... I'm sorry... please forgive me, child." Her voice was filled with anguish, and I felt a lump form in my throat.

I didn't want to intrude, so I backed away, closing the door behind me. As I walked back to our chambers, I couldn't shake off the image of the queen's tears. Who was the person in the picture? What had the person done to cause the queen such pain.

I pushed the thought aside, deciding not to mention it to Amanda just yet. I didn't want to add to my stress, especially with her pack training . But I couldn't help but wondering about the mysterious picture and the queen's sorrow.
