Chapter 8 Onyi's POV
As we settled in our room, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. Amanda's hands wrapped around me, holding me close, but I had so many questions.
" Mis....," " Amanda, my love, don't add Miss to it" she corrected me. " Amanda, can I ask you something " I said my voice hesitant.
"Anything Onyi," she replied,her voice soft.
" What exactly does it mean to be a werewolf " I asked my curiosity getting the best of me ." Amanda smiled her eyes sparkling " Well, werewolves are shifters, Onyi,we have the ability to transform into wolves, and we live in packs,each pack has his own hierarchy and rules" " So when you guys shift, you guys will turn into wolves with claws,fur and all those stuff" I asked "Yeah that's it,we have alphas,Luna and Omega" she smiled. Strangely I didn't feel scared. "So how's life in those packs" I continued. Amanda leaned in,her voice taking a conspiratorial tone "Pack life is intense...we live together, work together and protect each other. It's a tight knit community and we rely on each other for survival" I nodded taking it all in. "Are they other species " I asked curious.
" Yeah, there are vampires, mermaids, dwarfs, witches and lycans but lycans are somehow same as werewolves"
" So what's the difference between werewolves and lycans?" I asked my eyes wide with wonder. Amanda's expression turned somber "Lycans are different, they are more feral, more primal. They don't live in packs like we do, they're often at odd with us, sadly they only have one chance mate, they're no second chances for them like us, so they are extremely possessive over their mates."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I thought about the dangers that lay ahead. But with Amanda by my side,I felt a sense of determination. We will face whatever that comes our way together. " What about a mate bond?" I demanded. Amanda's expression turned serious. "A mate bond is a deep connection between two werewolves. It's a bond that forms when two werewolves find their perfect match. It's a long life commitment and is incredibly strong. Mates carry out a process called mating,in which the male mark the female as his by sinking it's teeth into her neck but other werewolves mark each other" I nodded fascinated. I felt chills run down my spine as I thought about our own bond.
As we talked,I couldn't help but feel drawn to Amanda. Her eyes sparkled in the dim light, and her touch send shivers down my spine. With all my courage, I leaned in, my lips brushing against hers, and I felt a spark of electricity.
Amanda's eyes fluttered close, and she deepened the kiss. I felt myself getting lost in the moment, my fears and doubts melting away.
But as we pulled back, I saw Alexis' face in my mind's eye. I felt a pang of jealousy , and my grib on Amanda tightened. "Amanda what happened between you and Alexis?" I asked my voice low
Amanda's expression softened and she leaned in close. "Alexis and I were together, Onyi. But it didn't work out. He's still holding on to the past, but I'm with you now. You are my mate, my love."
I felt a surge of relief, and my lips brushed against hers again. This time, the kiss was deeper, more passionate. Though I don't have the strength to protect her, I'll make sure I give my all to make her happy.
As we broke apart gasping for air,I knew our love will conquer all, no matter what, I'll stand by her side
