Chapter 7 Onyi's POV
The king stormed out of the Hall, the queen followed calling him from behind. I guess she wants to calm him down. I couldn't eat anymore but under Amanda's pressure I ate a little. Amanda and I later on left the hall, the tension palpable. We walked in silence, the weight of the king's disapproval settling on our shoulders. I don't know why I can't be happy for once I thought. On our way,we encountered a man, he was tall with chiseled features and piercing eyes that seems to bore into me. His blonde hair was perfectly styled, and his tailored clothes accentuated his athletic build. I felt a pang of jealousy as he smiles at Amanda, his eyes crinkling at the corner
"Amanda, beautiful as ever " he said, his voice smooth as silk. His gaze flickered to me, disdain evident in his eyes " And who is he?" He demanded. Amanda's eyes flashed but her tone was cool " He's my mate, what do you want now, Alexis". Oh Alexis is his name I thought, Alexis gaze lingered on her,a hint of longing in his eyes, maybe he had some chemistry with Amanda from the way he stares at her "Amanda" he soften "I just want to help you with the king, can't you just come back to me."
I felt Amanda's hand tighten around mine a subtle warning to stay calm " I appreciate the offer, Alexis, you have a mate and Onyi here is my mate, I've made my choice"
Alexis eyes narrowed his expression smug, his gaze flickering to me before returning to Amanda "You are throwing a chance of stability and security all for... this worthless human" Alexis tone incredulous
"Don't you dare call him that " Amanda snapped, "I'd rather take a chance on love,than settling for something less, you know that about me, Alexis." Amanda's expression firm. Alexis nodded curtly " As you wish Amanda, but when you need me, I'll be here." he turned and walked away leaving us to breathe a sigh of relief.
Back in our room, Amanda wrapped her hands around me, pulling me close "Hey, it's okay " she whispered, her voice soothing. "I'm here. I'll always be here. "
I became weak, my fear and uncertainty surfacing " What if the king doesn't accept me, because I'm human" I asked my voice barely above a whisper "He will baby, we'll face this together " her voice filled with emotion. " I'll love only you even if you're younger or human, okay."
She guided me to the bed,her touch gentle, reassuring. As we lay down with my face buried between her breasts, her warmth envelope me, chasing away some of my fears,I have never been treasured this much in my life,I just felt like staying here forever.
"Amanda" I whispered my voice shaking. "Shhhh" she sooth placing a kiss on my hair " Everything will be alright, my love, I'll make sure of that"
