Most people dread transfer students because they mess up the seating chart or make group projects harder.
Me?
My transfer student brought knives.
And maybe… feelings?
Scene: Wednesday Morning – Homeroom
The teacher walked in and cleared her throat like she was about to introduce a pop star or a very attractive lawsuit.
"Class, please welcome our new transfer student. She's here on… a special scholarship."
Special turned out to mean:
A trench coat with too many belts.
Hair as black as my GPA.
Eyes glowing faint purple like a threat.
And the aura of someone who's killed a man using only sarcasm.
"I'm Sayuri," she said.
Then she looked directly at me.
And smiled.
The kind of smile that says: I know what you did last summer, and I'm here to finish the job.
Red Flags with Lip Gloss
Sayuri walked past my desk.
Paused.
Then whispered:
"Kazuki Hoshino… your blood type is B+. Interesting."
Normal people say 'nice to meet you.' Not blood type facts.
Lilith texted me from the hallway where she was totally not spying.
Lilith: Do. Not. Flirt. With. The Assassin.
Kazuki: I wasn't.
Lilith: You looked directly at her trench coat slit.
Kazuki: …I panicked.
Scene: Lunch – The "Accidental" Knife Toss
I sat down to eat my sandwich.
Sayuri appeared next to me like a glitch in a dating sim.
She smiled again. "You're left-handed."
"…Yes?"
She then proceeded to throw a knife exactly 0.5 inches from my head into the corkboard behind me.
"Just checking your reflexes," she said sweetly. "You passed."
"I'm eating a tuna sandwich, Sayuri. Not dodging shuriken."
"Yet."
Lilith vs. Sayuri – Round 1
Lilith appeared mid-confrontation, carrying a tray with nothing but red velvet cake and judgment.
"Hello, new girl," she said, sitting down beside Sayuri like a panther next to a rattlesnake. "What brings you to our pathetic mortal school?"
"Assassination training," Sayuri replied calmly.
"Ah. Honors program?"
"You could say that."
They smiled at each other with the energy of two apex predators pretending to be on a brunch date.
I tried to disappear into my sandwich.
Assassin Affection is Weird
After school, Sayuri cornered me behind the gym.
"I've studied your weaknesses," she said, pulling out a notebook titled 'Target: Kazuki'.
"Why??"
"To understand you better. And to emotionally dismantle you."
She flipped a page.
"Weaknesses:
– Blushes when complimented
– Gets distracted by thighs
– Screams when near frogs"
"I told you that frog story in confidence!"
She smirked. "I also know your favorite shampoo."
That's when I knew: she was either going to murder me, date me, or both.
The Cliffhanger
Sayuri leaned in, whispering with the intensity of a romantic thriller:
"If I kill you, it will be after our third date."
And just like that, she walked away.
Lilith, hiding in the bushes nearby, screamed into a cursed scarf.
