Chapter 26 - Odyssey Unfurled: Embarking Upon the Infinite Path (Part 8)

I continued running, putting as much distance between myself and the Hamburg city as possible until I reached a hill. From this vantage point, I could see two paths branching off, both leading into the forest. The Altyzurian kingdom's capital was now barely visible in the distance." I'm almost there," I sighed in relief.

Approaching the cliff's edge, I contemplated my options. From where I come, there are 2 paths and I guess I will take one of those paths to get through this forest.

When I reached the cliff, I tried to look down and it was pretty steep for me to go down safely. Under this hill, there is only a forest. Suddenly, I felt a presence from behind my back. As I turned around, I saw a knight in shining armor.

Amidst the tension and uncertainty, the knight's presence loomed large, his armor glinting in the filtered sunlight. His determined gaze seemed to pierce through the brothers' apprehension, leaving them trapped on the edge of the cliff with no escape.

The knight's voice, steady and unwavering, finally broke the silence. "Hold, travelers. There's no need for further flight. Your faith is already determined. Today is your last day!."

We exchanged a glance, a mixture of skepticism and caution in their eyes. This encounter had already taken them by surprise, and they couldn't be sure of the knight's intentions.

From my instinct, he must be a tough one for me to handle. He was able to catch up with my speed despite me running with all might using magic.

That moment, I didn't have anywhere to run. The knight approached us slowly and took out his sword. The knight lowered his sword, letting it rest point-down in the grass. Slowly, he raised his visor, revealing a face that seemed weathered by battles and years of experience. He took a step closer, his armor clinking softly with each movement.

"What do I do? My magic won't work on him!" I speculate my magic trick is not going to work on him because of the armor. It will reflect my magic and worse it would ricochet to me or Elijah. I still have not learned any penetrable magic like electricity that can shock him to death.

I turned around and looked at Elijah who was scared of that guy too.

"Brother…" His voice is shivering. He held me tight on my back. I wonder what I can do in this critical moment. I need to find an escape.

-To be continued-

The choice before them was daunting, and the path forward remained uncertain. With their backs on the edge of the cliff and the knight before them, the brothers had to make a decision that would shape the course of their fate.

As the wind rustled the leaves of the forest below, the forest's secrets seemed to whisper softly in the breeze. The two brothers left in despair to face the consequence when coming to the city which they did not expect would come to this.

In the battle, there is no hope for them to deal with the unknown power of the knight that they have never faced before. The faith does not side with them even though they are just barely a toddler that can stand up with two legs.
