Chapter 5 - She's just boring

Lukas's POV :

I suddenly felt someone beside me and turned my head to look at Kurt. I raised an eyebrow, my smirk still on my lips.

"Where were you, buddy?" I asked curiously. I didn't even notice him leaving the table. Can't blame me. I was too busy with Cassie and her group.

"Just grabbing a tissue, yeah." Kurt forced a smile and shifted his eyes to his plate.

Tsk.

This guy's awful at lying. Or I know him very well. 'Cause I know, he's lying. Thanks to his awkward answer. But I ignored it and shifted my attention back to the girls. One of Cassie's friends, Elle, was sticking to Axel like a lizard. I betcha that idiot is enjoying the attention too much.

Cassie smirked and started to feed me fries. Ah. I love the attention, too.

I grinned and ate the fries smugly.

After all, I know all the girls in this fucking school would kill to be in the place of Cassie.

I glanced across the cafeteria.

Most of the girls were eyeing me with love and affection. In contrast, the boys looked at me in awe or envy. I felt like a god, honestly.

My eyes fell on the corner of the cafeteria. My smirk slowly disappears.

There is that grandma. Studying and sipping chocolate milk.

I FEEL SO ANNOYED JUST BY LOOKING AT HER!! Like, how can someone study all the time?! Girl, have some fun! It's not even that we have exams tomorrow! She's fucking boring, I swear. I feel bad for her future hubby. Uh— Nevermind. I wonder if she would ever get a husband. Hell, she won't even get a boyfriend!

I smirked but found myself looking away as Cassie leaned against my arm.

"Look at me, darling," she says in a low tone with a sly grin. I looked at her. "Where were you looking at? Got another hot chick?"

I chuckled lowly and removed a strand of hair from her face. "Why would I do that, sweetheart? 'Cause according to me, you're the hottest girl in this school."

Cassie giggled and put another fry into my mouth. I betcha she's falling into my trap. Haha. Easy peasy lemon squeezy this girl is.

Axel leaned forward and whispered into my ear, "I know you were eyeing that nerd, Lukie. Are you interested in her or something, man?"

I rolled my eyes and showed him my middle finger before turning my attention back on Cassie.

Zeke and Kurt were eating peacefully. Some girls were eyeing Kurt too.

Yeah, this boy's pretty handsome too. But no one dares to approach him. After all, they know that he'll reject them. My boy isn't interested in girls.

I remember that when we were twelve, he liked our childhood friend named Isla. She was kind and sweet, just like Kurt. I guess she was his first and last love. 'Cause he left Phillipines as her dad got a better job in Japan. She wasn't too rich or something. Her dad was a driver of Kurt's family. So there was no chance Mr. Sarmiento would let him marry her anyway. But he was broken when she left. I've always told him there's no point missing her now. She probably forgot us. Her childhood friends. But, unfortunately, he refused to do that. He says,"she'll return."

I'm worried about him, honestly. I wish he gets his true love.

Among all of us, Kurt's the one who deserves to be loved the most.

I never took any girl seriously. Just casual hookups and all that shits are my stuff.

Axel, too, never loved a girl for my heart or soul. Just her looks and appearance.

And don't get me started about Zeke. He's the grumpiest one of the group. I swear he would kill any girl who tries to approach him. He's not the lovey-dovey type.

So, my opinion about Kurt deserving true love seems fair.

I looked away and sighed. I just wish best for my buddy. I care for him.

The bell rang, indicating that the lunch break his over.

I stood up and cleared my throat, "Let's get going."

I glanced one last time at the nerdy Grandma, my eyes hardening for a moment.

I looked away before shoving my hands into the pockets of my pants and leaving the cafeteria with the boys and Cassie's group.
