{Year: 1500}

[East Blue–LogueTown]

Gol D. Roger, the man, the myth, the legend. The Freest Man in The World. The King of Pirates. The one man to conquer the Grand Line. The man who became the most free. The man who found...the One Piece, now lays dead on his execution platform in a puddle of his own blood, with a smile on his lifeless face, after literally plunging the world into chaos.

The civilians screamed in fear and terror, the pirates running rampage in the name of 'freedom', the marines trying to uphold the peace are currently questioning their current salaries and already planning their next therapy sessions for their therapists.

All because of one man's final words.

And so, as the waves crashed and the salty breeze blew, the sails unfolded and the boats speed through the waters...

The Great Pirate Era...HAD BEGUN!!

{Year: 1519}

[East Blue–???]

???: "And that's lead me to where I am."

In the vast sea, a boy of 5'11" tall sails in a small boat with a big grin on his freckled face, where a thin, curved line with two small, vertical stitch-like marks along it could be seen under his left eye. He has shoulder length, jet black curly hair that framed his face really well.

His wide almond shaped eyes held a determined shine in his dark visible pupils.

A straw hat is worn on top his head, tied around his neck by a white knotted rope. He wore an open, light yellow, short-sleeved shirt, revealing his lean muscular physique, a large, red beaded necklace draped around his neck and black knee-length shorts, secured by an eyelet-studded orange belt.

A shorter, second belt with a large red "L" on a silver buckle, worn over his right hip but left unfastened, with the free end threaded along the back of his shorts, blue pouch belted around his left thigh and finally black, lace-up boots with a somewhat chunky sole and a slightly slouchy shaft.

His overall appearance gave him a roguish look which made him both endearingly handsome and youthfully cute looking.

In his eyes, you could see that fire of determination despite his carefree appearance.

Portgas D. Luffy: "...All those pirates on the sea, putting their life on the line as they began searching for the One Piece. That's what it means to be a pirate." He talked in a reminiscent tone to Jeff, a...News Coo bird he apparently named. 'I guess it was pretty lonely out here, huh? Can't wait to gather my own crew. I think around 15 men should do.'

SQUAK!

'Hmm?' Jeff, the bird looked at me like I was finally done lecturing it on maths or something like that before taking off and flying away.

'And there goes Jeff, great.' I lamented with a sigh.

"But that's ok. Because when I have my crew, especially a cook and musician, I'll be able to live through these seas." He shot both his fist into the air as he declared these words to the very sky.

"I will be...THE KING OF THE PIRATES!!!"

SPLASH!!

Portgas D. Luffy: 'HUH?!!' He thought as he was thrown back onto the boat deck with a thud.

Large dark clouds covered the former blue sky, swallowing the sunlight.

The strong winds howled and swayed the boat as buckets of rain poured down from the clouds, thunder boomed with a deafening roar as vicious lightning struck the sea surface.

He immediately steadied himself as he grabbed the ropes and positioned the boat.

Unfortunately, no knowledge in sailing means no knowledge in sailing, and the result was in front of him.

Portgas D. Luffy: His eyes widen in shock and awe. "Oh no, that isn't good..." He couldn't even complete his statement as an enormous wave of sea water so huge you couldn't see the top no matter how you looked. You could have compare it to an actual tsunami, crashed down on him with a thundering force, splintering his boat in pieces and sending him deep into the water.

He felt his strength leaving him, the deeper he drowned.

His air leaving his mouth in the form of the bubbles.

He couldn't breathe, he couldn't speak...he could only cling to his resolve and refuse to die. He wasn't dead yet!

As his vision started to blur and darken, he could hear a faint, ethereal sound...or voice...it sounded neither male or female...

"...Lu...uff...ffy...Luffy..."

Before he could reach out for that voice and understand who was calling him, he felt the last grip of his consciousness finally slipped from his grasp, succumbing to the darkness fully.

He closed his eyes and could only reflect on how he got here...

–FLASHBACK [7 Years Ago]–

{Year: 1512}

[East Blue–Foosha Village(Makino's Bar)]

A 10 year old boy with short curly black hair, freckles on his cheeks and a bandage under his left eye, wearing a red T-shirt that says "56", blue shorts with white rolled up cuffs and dark brown, flat, slipper-like shoes.

He was smiling widely as he looked at a particular, larger red haired man with a straw hat.

Portgas D. Luffy: "Come on, Shanks. Joining my crew is going to be the best thing ever!" He exclaimed with a lot of excitement.

Shanks: "HAHAHA!! Luffy, you're a riot! Me joining your crew. Now that's a good joke." He laughed wholeheartedly at the young boy's demand.

The men of Shank's crew banged their hands on the bar tables, laughing their hearts out from the kid's sheer audacity.

Even Makino giggled sweetly in the crowd.

Lucky Roo: "Luffy, you're too much of a kid to be a captain yet! Hahaha!"

Portgas D. Luffy: "That's not true! I'm 10 years old! Already an adult and my punches are as strong as pistols." He punches his hand forward as if to demonstrate.

Shanks: "Oh is that so?" He said in a dead ass, unimpressed tone as he sipped his drink.

Portgas D. Luffy: "What The Hell Is That Supposed To Mean, You Damn Tomato Head?!" He shouted back with shark teeth.

Shanks: "WANNA SAY THAT AGAIN BRAT?! I WILL NOT HESITATE TO SPANK YOU RIGHT HERE!!" He growled back with shark teeth, obviously sensitive about his hair.

BONK!

BONK!

Knocked down from their seats with both their eyes rolled back, Luffy and Shanks laid sprawled on the bar floor with comically large bumps on their heads, sizzling with hot steam on the surface.

Making stood at above the two men, a seemingly innocent smile on her face that held dark intentions, her hands clenched in veiny fists and crossed down with smoke rising of her two knuckles.

Makino: "Luffy, where did you learn to say that word?"

Portgas D. Luffy: "Shanks." He immediately pointed an accusing finger at the poor redhead with a blank face.

Shanks' face immediately falters from the quick betrayal, his jaw hung wide open in shock and pure disbelief.

'I was the same crewmate you wanted to recruit, yet this is how you treat me?' He thought as turned to face the vivid Makino, a dangerous aura was radiating of her, it's murderous intent so dense and volatile that the Yonko's couldn't compare!

His men all took a collective step back, even Luffy adjusted his seat, a small sweat drop going down their head as a singular thought ran through their minds. 'May the gods accept him with open arms.'

Shanks: As if sensing the funeral like atmosphere, he yelled at them with shark teeth. "Don't mourn me, ya bastards! Save me instead!"

Another collective step back.

"YOU TRAITOROUS BASTARDS!!"

–Two Minutes Later–

Shanks, now sporting two big bumps stacked on his head, grumbled curses as he gulp down his cup of sake.

Luffy and the rest of his crew looked at him with astonishment as they simultaneously thought. 'He actually survived?!'

Shanks: "FU—" One silent glare from Makino, more sweat dripped down his face. "S-Shut up..." He grumbled out as Makino went back to cleaning bottles with an innocent woman.

Portgas D. Luffy: "So, Shanks, you still going to join my crew?"

At this moment, Shanks considered if the fishes would need more food.

Luckily for Luffy's safety, before Shanks could complain, the bar door was kicked open. A group of bandits entered, their faces etched with grim smiles.

The leader approached the bar tavern with a sadistic smile.

But suddenly, the very moment he opened his mouth—

He started coughing up floods of water! Along with the rest of his crew!!

Luffy paled at the unnatural sight. He looked towards Shanks for answers, only to see him face a similar fate!

In record time, the entire bar was filled with water!

Luffy couldn't breathe...he couldn't speak...

He could only watch as the last bit of his breath turned to bubbles and floated up. He turned his head and with a blurring vision, he saw a strange looking purple fruit with swirls covering it floating beside him.

He could hear a strange yet familiar faint call from it...

It sounded like fruit was calling to him somehow.

"..uff...Lu...Luffy...Luffy..."

Then finally, his eyes closed and he drifted to a strangely peaceful slumber.

{Present Day}

[East Blue–???]

Groggily, Luffy slowly opened his eyes to find himself on a beach.

Portgas D. Luffy: "Uhhh, what happened?" Clutching his aching head, Luffy sat up with a painful groan.

Then he jolted up and frantically checked his head and back. Seeing as his hat was still there and intact, he breathed a sigh of relief.

'Thank goodness. Don't know what I would do if I lost you.' He thought with a smile as he placed his hat back on his head.

Calling himself to order, he finally surveyed his surroundings, seeing nothing but open sea, with no signs of boats and only seagulls squawking in the near distance of the sky.

Portgas D. Luffy: "Where...am I?"
