"Master, is this true?"
"Was the decline of the Dragon Clan truly caused by our own actions?"
"Master, if any remnant of your soul still lingers, please awaken!"
Whispers gradually rose, silent yet voicing the doubts of most of the lingering dragon souls. It turned out they themselves were the root of their downfall.
Gu Yuena glanced at Di Tian, who had collapsed beside her. His body trembled slightly, his knees pressed against the ground, his forehead nearly touching the earth. Tears—long forgotten—now streamed down his face as he struggled to hold back his emotions.
Di Tian faintly sensed that Bai Xu's words held truth.
The Dragon God was the faith of the Dragon Clan. These words had undoubtedly dragged the Dragon God down from his divine pedestal, reducing him to an imperfect true dragon.
"Such arrogance!"
"You wicked little human!"
Most of the lingering dragon souls refused to believe Bai Xu, hurling accusations at him. Yet none attacked, all waiting for the Silver Dragon King's command.
Gu Yuena remained silent, her expression grim. Truthfully, even she felt her faith crumbling. She knew Bai Xu best and could tell he wasn't lying. But at this moment, she wished it were all a lie.
"Bai Xu..." Gu Yuena spoke softly, torn over whether to let him continue.
"Gu Yuena, I've said my piece. Whether you believe me or not is up to you." Bai Xu crossed his arms, his tone firm as he observed the scene.
Gu Yuena clenched her fists and turned toward the colossal dragon soul. The Dragon God's remnant had grown translucent, its seven-colored energy surging into her and Na'er's bodies. Their auras skyrocketed exponentially.
The two embraced amidst the radiant light, merging into a silver-haired girl who threw her head back and released a resounding dragon's roar. Her body rapidly expanded, transforming into a towering silver dragon, a thousand meters tall.
As the seven-colored energy poured into her, her silver scales shimmered with iridescent light. Her power swelled, causing the entire Dragon Valley to tremble as the dragons bowed in reverence.
In the sky, dragon-shaped clouds surged toward her. One by one, the lingering dragon souls leaped from the valley's edges like moths to a flame.
They all dissolved into streams of seven-colored energy, merging into the massive silver form. The countless cracks covering her dragon body rapidly healed under the energy's flow. The absorption of the Dragon God's remnant lasted a full ten minutes before concluding.
The dragon reverted to her human form, a seven-colored core floating in her palm—the Dragon God Core.
Some of the lingering souls, now convinced by Bai Xu's words, laughed bitterly. "How absurd. Our lifelong devotion was nothing but a grand joke."
With anguished wails, they destroyed themselves, their skeletal remains crumbling to ash, scattering in the wind.
Not just one or two—many who retained memories of the ancient war pieced together the truth from Bai Xu's words. They gazed at the remnants of their kin with sorrow, lamenting that they had never received an explanation from the Dragon God himself.
"Though I suspected as much, I never imagined the truth would be so convoluted..." Gu Yuena, her injuries partially healed, exuded an overwhelming aura. At this moment, even Bai Xu might not be her match.
"Don't rush. What I said earlier was for the lingering dragon souls. What comes next is for you," Bai Xu said with a faint smile.
Gu Yuena frowned. "What else is there?"
"The Dragon God may have lost his sanity, but as the founder of the Divine Dragon Realm and a true dragon who nearly created a Divine Star, his strength was undeniable. Back then, if the Dragon God hadn't sought death, do you really think the God of Slaughter could have split him in two?
The combined forces of the entire Divine Dragon Realm couldn't defeat the Dragon God!
A being of such power wouldn't perish so easily. Of course, remnants of his will remain—but he is too ashamed to face the Dragon Clan, choosing instead to sink into self-oblivion."
Gu Yuena's brow furrowed deeper. "What are you trying to say?"
Bai Xu continued, "The Dragon God has been waiting for a successor to inherit his divine position—someone who won't repeat his mistakes. You now hold the Dragon God Core, yet you've received no guidance from his lingering will. Gu Yuena... neither you nor Na'er are the ones the Dragon God awaits. Even if you devour the Golden Dragon, you'll only become the next Dragon God, trapped in the same cycle, leading the Dragon Clan to ruin once more."
!!!!
Gu Yuena's aura exploded. The phantom of a silver dragon roared behind her as space trembled. In an instant, the tip of her Silver Dragon Spear pressed against Bai Xu's forehead.
"You're lying!" she snarled through gritted teeth.
"Whether it's a lie or not, you know the truth. I'm merely stating facts. The judgment is yours to make."
"You—!"
After a tense standoff, Gu Yuena finally lowered her spear. Reluctantly, she handed the Dragon God Core to Bai Xu. "You have six months at most. Return it by then."
"Deal!" Bai Xu grinned, his eyes lighting up with triumph. This was what he had come for—all that persuasion had finally paid off!
"Hmph. You're awfully pleased with yourself now that you've gotten what you wanted."
Gu Yuena cast a cold glance at Di Tian, who still knelt in despair. "How long will you wallow in misery? Get out!" With a wave, she dispersed his spiritual projection.
The pocket dimension began to tremble, its stability waning. Soon, it would collapse entirely.
"It can hold a little longer... Is it waiting for the Golden Dragon?" Gu Yuena turned, sensing something—a crystal reserved for the Golden Dragon.
Bai Xu, meanwhile, examined the Dragon God Core with fascination. With such an immense energy source, he could accelerate the completion of his Six Viscera cultivation.
"I'm surprised you're not shattered. Shouldn't the collapse of your faith be devastating? Yet you seem unaffected," Bai Xu remarked.
"Do you think I'm still the same as before? Even if I believe your words, I am the Silver Dragon King. If the Dragon God failed, I will shoulder the responsibility! Don't assume your words will make me abandon my plans and join you. The revival of the beast souls is inevitable. I will ensure all beast souls can ascend to godhood—not just those like the Sky Azure Bull Python and the Titan Giant Ape, forced to rely on humans!"
Bai Xu clapped. "If you've reached this level of resolve, then your growth hasn't been in vain."
Before he could finish, a hand seized his collar, yanking him forward with such speed he had no time to react. The wind howled past his ears as they shot toward the valley's exit.
"What are you doing? Let me go—I can fly on my own!" He struggled but found himself immobilized. After absorbing the Dragon God's remnant, Gu Yuena's power had surged exponentially.
"Ha! You're no match for me now. You'll do as I say!" She smirked, ignoring his protests as her dragon wings unfurled, propelling them faster across the sky.
Bai Xu lost track of time. When they finally landed, his feet rejoiced at the solid ground beneath them.
Gu Yuena paid him no further mind. Di Tian and the others had already withdrawn their power, though Di Tian remained lost in thought. For someone who had worshipped the Dragon God since birth and devoted his life to him, Bai Xu's words were daggers to his heart.
"Di Tian, Bai Xu's claims aren't necessarily true. We'll verify them later. For now, leave."
"As you command, Master."
