After slowly looking through the streets on the north-east side, he came to a stop, in front of him stood an ordinary-looking look shabby-looking house. This whole town was most likely filled with similar-looking houses, but what was off about this house was that, on its wall, a strange formation was painted.
The painting looked horrible on its own with a bright-red tint, but what made it even weirder was the small, glinting light in between the formation.
In this dark, deserted town, this was the only light Agate could find so far. He cautiously leaned forward to look closely at the formation. It almost looked like a mandala with how small and intricate some lines were. Not having any understanding of such formation, he instinctively tried to extract the continuously shimmering stone instead.
As his hand reached out to the stone, his vision started to blur, and he slumbered back to darkness. Before he completely lost his consciousness, there was a bright light engulfing him completely, as he faintly heard continuous murmuring sounds around him.
Suddenly, he felt as if his soul was being sucked out of his body, as his consciousness was yanked to a bright and lively town. He was confused for a second before realizing, this was the same town where he was before.
His eyes looked around in surprise, but he soon noticed some strangeness about the situation. First, he felt very light, and his wounded chest was not aching anymore. At that, he confusedly looked down at his wound, which was clean with no stab mark now. His breath hitched from doubt, as he pressed on his chest, it really did not hurt anymore, so the wound was definitely not there.
His calm eyes shook as he tried to register the situation. What was this situation? Soon, he got his answer to that question, as his now muddled head cleared with surprise when his eyes suddenly met a bright black eyes.
A young man walked up to him, smiling, but instead of stopping before him, the man passed right through him, calling out to the person behind him.
"Niel, let's go home now."
Agate looked at his body and back at the young man who was walking ahead with a young kid by his side, thinking, how is this possible? Am I dead? What happened, though?
He clearly remembered touching the formation then...
His brows raised as a sudden realization hit, "Is it related to that formation?"
Getting an understanding of his situation a little, he tried to clear his thoughts and think hard, what he could do in this situation, and he soon came to a conclusion.
He needs to find the same house where the formation was made, to check if it still has that weird formation or not.
As he looked around himself, he realized he was in the same location as the town where he had first regained his consciousness and had confronted that faceless thing. Despite the town having similar houses and streets, thankfully, on each corner of the street, the name of the street was written, thus helping him find where he was currently.
"It was around here." He mumbled as he followed the street from his memory to the house with formation.
Soon, he stood before the now perfectly clean and fine house, his heart sank; there was no formation. He was sure this was the same house where he had last seen the formation, so why was there nothing on the wall now?
Suddenly, there came a shout from inside the house. It was the same young man's voice, "Niel, don't be late. Come back soon, okay?" which was followed by a much younger voice, "Okay, brother."
"I'll be home before the sun s-" Niel's voice abruptly stopped as he reached the doorstep, meeting Agate's eyes directly.
"You can see me?" Agate asked, surprised.
Niel responded, confused, "Of course, sir. Are you here to find my brother?"
Before Agate could reply a hurried footsteps came from inside the house as Niel's brother came into view. He looked at Niel questioningly, "Who are you talking to? Why are you still here?"
Niel's dark brown eyes reflected his confusion as he looked at Agate, then at his brother, "Him" he pointed at Agate.
"Who?" his brother asked again, looking ahead at the street, not seeing anyone. At that, finally, Niel understood something, so he looked at Agate sharply, but he did not see any indication; he thought "weird", before turning to his brother and smiling playfully, "I was just playing, brother, I am going now."
His brother shook his head disapprovingly before heading back to the house. Niel watched his brother's back and back at the silent Agate.
"You are not dead yet, are you?"
