Chapter 40 - Before the War Breaks

The gates of the royal palace of Koha opened wide, and Weller, carrying the weight of both Hakari Kage,Nicolas and yushi's unconscious bodies in his thoughts, stepped forward. Guards in silver-black armor formed two unbroken lines, their spears gleaming in the sunlight. Servants approached, bowing deeply, their movements quick and precise.

"Please, sir," one said respectfully, "allow us to tend to your companions. The King has ordered your comfort."

Weller nodded cautiously. He was shown to a chamber draped with golden silks and polished marble floors. Hakari, Kage and, Nicolas, yushi were gently placed on soft beds by attendants. Servants brought steaming baths, trays of food, and fresh clothes for other mens, treating them not as strangers but as honored guests.

Only after resting and eating was Weller escorted by guards, while his men were ordered to remain in their rooms. He was brought into the royal chamber, the air growing heavier with every step through the grand corridors, until the massive doors finally opened—revealing a vast hall lit by braziers, with towering banners looming above like silent watchers.

At the far end, seated upon a throne of blackstone and gold, was King Yami. His gaze was sharp, his voice deep and commanding.

"Welcome," the king said, his tone measured. "Welcome… to Koha."

Weller now infront of the king

Weller kept his voice low. "My lord, I think a great war is about to break." He let the words settle. "I place a small tracking artifact on my father, as I always do. Through it I heard a private conversation between him and the King of Velvet." He paused, choosing each phrase. "Velvet said they needed funds to maintain the balance of the Code Crystal. My father refused. Afterwards he made a thin, empty threat — that the balance could not stand if a nation were replaced. The King of Velvet smiled, barely holding it. He said, 'You will understand soon.' My father replied, 'I would like to understand.' I did not tell you this before, my king. I only say it now because it matters."

King Yami's face did not change. Weller had expected anger, or laughter, or dismissal — anything but the cold flame that now burned behind the king's eyes. "So you think a war for control will begin soon," Yami said quietly.

Weller nodded. "It is the best time to strike. Whoever moves first will have the advantage."

Before Weller could continue, the king rose with a smooth, lethal motion. A single metallic whisper as the sword left its scabbard was all the warning Weller needed. The blade caught the torchlight; the room felt smaller.

"Before I hear anything else," Yami said, voice a low-edged thing, "first tell me why you came here to Koha. Was it only for this? And if it was, why Koha? Why come to me? Do you truly believe I would simply believe you — and then help?"

Weller's throat tightened. He had expected this scrutiny, but not the blade. "No," he admitted, steady though anxious. "I did not come only for this. I have sensed immense, chaotic Code energy here. I felt it weeks ago, and again four days ago. The pulses were enormous, but they differed in nature. I came to investigate."

"You know I could kill you for that," Yami said, cold as winter.

"I know," Weller answered. "I know very well. But what I've heard of you is that you are not a ruler who slays those who seek balance. You are —" he faltered, then met the king's eyes — "you are the Balance of the Three Nations."

Yami sat again, that faint half smile appearing as if by habit. "Very well. About my second question," he said, voice softer, "what would you have me do?"

"As I said," Weller replied, relieved the blade had not fallen, "you are the Balance. I knew you would help."

Yami weighed him with a steady gaze. "I will help," he said finally, "but on one condition: you will cease your investigation."

Weller's surprise was visible. "Wh—why?"

Yami's smile hardened into something final. His voice lost all play. "Do you need my help or not?"

Weller bowed his head. Pride and fear warred in his face, but the choice was clear. "I… I do. I am sorry, my king. Where do we start?"

Yami folded his hands, every inch the sovereign. "I will not start the war. I will provide resources, men, and permission. Do what you must; whatever you find, report it to me.

Weller bowed deeply, preparing to turn away.

But before the doors opened, Yami's tone sharpened.

"And also—you may leave now, but tomorrow, before you depart, you will come to me. You will tell me everything you saw inside the Cave of Mura… especially about the Code Crystal that vanished after its annihilation."

Weller accepted the terms. He had asked for allies, and though it was on the king's terms, it was more than silence. The Balance had agreed to watch, and that would either be their shield — or their sentence.

You are dismissed now.

Weller lays his bow down.

The chamber gate closes. Suddenly A female servant appears from his right, giving Weller a jump

scare.

Oooh, it's you.

Yes, my lord. I'm ordered to guide you to your room and stay by your side no

matter what!

Wh-what? Ooo-okay then.

The servant brings Weller inside the room and closes the doors.

Weller straightaway lands on the bed.

He looks up and sees her servant's face-though beautiful and gorgeous, but hiding

something. She holds Weller's hand and places it on her face. She then starts getting

undressed.

Weller, surprised and confused, gets up.

Wh-what? What are you doing?

But she interrupts, kissing him on the lips, and straightaway gets on top of him. She

Weller, surprised and confused, gets up.

Wh-what? What are you doing?

But she interrupts, kissing him on the lips, and straightaway gets on top of him. She

grabs Weller's both hands and places them on her naked waist. She starts undressing

Weller too, beginning with his bottom wear. She almost does, but before she does, a

knock on the door.

What? Who is it?

Haaaa, open the door. It's me.

Weller gets up, sliding the servant calmly away-It's Yushi, thank god. He rushes

toward the door and opens it.

Yushi, still a bit dizzy: Hey, just wanted to say hello, and...

Before he could say anything, his eyes lie on the naked servant.

Who is she?

lt's... it's a bit complicated. And besides, I wasn't intending to do anything with

her.

Ooh, really?

Yes, yes...d-don't you believe me?

No, no, I do, very much. But I'm shocked you didn't do anything-I mean, look at

her, she is just gorgeous.

Well, you know me,I'm a bit shy....

Yushi interrupts_Yes, I do. Can you please come outside the door?

Ofcourse,now what?.

Weller comes outside the door, and suddenly Yushi enters.

Sorry, Weller, but I like women.

And he closes the door.

Weller, now without a room, sits before the door-confused, silent, already tense, now

even more.

When he felt asleep, he gets waken up by screams of intercourse.

Fuck, I can't even sleep.

Hours later, the servant leaves the room, her face all smiling. Weller looks up at her

from below, confused.

Why is she so happy?

Yushi lies naked on the bed. Weller slowly comes to him.

Hey, you fucker. You enjoyed yourself and left me awake all night.

Yeah, I'm sorry. It's just-when I truly see a gorgeous lady, I just can't control

myself.

But you motherfucker, my sleep was disturbed too. I have to leave in just a

couple of hours now.

Yushi:For what?

Yes, of course you don't know. I have work to do. Just... just let me sleep. Keep

your fucking mouth shut for a while.

Alright, as you say!

The chamber fell silent. Yet even as Weller drifted into restless dreams, unease lingered in the air.

"Both of them fell into sleep—well, they deserved the rest, at least for now."
