Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Dice of the Gods

"Young man, congratulations on officially becoming an adventurer."

The Counter Lady saw Naruto pick up the white porcelain-colored tag and smiled, pointing to the bulletin board on the wall beside them.

The bulletin board was covered with papers, which were various tasks posted by clients.

[Novice Task: Complete any task from the Adventurers' Guild!]

[Task Reward: Obtain 10 exchange coupons]

[Side Quest: I Am Not a Novice (Raise Adventurer Rank to Jade Tier)]

[Task Reward: Obtain 50 exchange coupons]

(Note: Exchange coupons are a currency exclusive to the Underground City Mall)

"You can take on some simple tasks, like helping Granny Grant in town find her…"

"I'll take this one."

Naruto pulled off a commission slip from the bulletin board:

[Concern from Iron Water Village]

[Client: Old Village Chief]

[Task Content: Recently, villagers have discovered traces of Goblin activity in the forest near Iron Water Village. adventurers are requested to investigate, and if Goblins are found, they must be eliminated!]

[Task Reward: 14 silver coins, some fruits and vegetables as thanks from the villagers]

"Eliminate Goblins?"

Seeing the commission slip Naruto placed on the table, the Counter Lady's expression became troubled. She advised, "Although Goblins are very weak monsters, they are extremely cunning. Individually weak, they prefer to act in groups. Many new adventurers have paid a heavy price for underestimating Goblins. I hope you…"

Naruto shook his head, his azure eyes filled with determination.

"I choose this one."

"Sigh, alright."

The Counter Lady sighed deeply; she couldn't control an adventurer's will.

Moreover, the task of eliminating Goblins was of a lower rank in the Adventurers' Guild, and new adventurers were qualified to accept it.

"Hey, kid, Goblins burn, kill, and pillage, doing all sorts of evil. Their intelligence isn't low either, and they often wipe out entire teams of new adventurers. Men become food, and as for women, heh… they are taken as breeding stock. Are you sure you want to go kill Goblins?"

"You look so fair and tender; don't go becoming Goblin food, hahahaha!"

A rough voice sounded.

Naruto's peripheral vision swept over, revealing a bald man in dark heavy armor, with dark skin, carrying a greatsword on his shoulder.

"Kane, don't scare him!"

The blonde girl next to the axe-wielding man glared at him.

She had a high ponytail, and her golden hair was smooth and shiny, possessing astonishing beauty. Even in loose, sacred white priestess robes, her proud and full figure was hard to conceal.

She was practically a perfect work of art, completely unlike an adventurer from Border Town.

The blonde girl leaned on her divine staff with one hand and gently touched Naruto's spiky hair with the other, asking softly, "We are going to eradicate a Goblin nest, and we'll also eliminate a few Goblins along the way. You can come with us."

"Alicia, why bother with him?"

"Anyway, the number of new adventurers who die at the hands of Goblins every year is not small."

A companion of Heavy Swordsman Kane grumbled.

Kane replied gruffly, "Goblins may be weak, but I don't want to bring a burden."

Nearby adventurers were whispering.

"They are the Kane Adventurer Team, whose reputation has recently soared."

"Captain Kane is about to be promoted to a silver-ranked adventurer."

"That priestess named Alicia is also very powerful! I heard she successfully became a priestess of the supreme god Temple, mastering four spells. No one of her rank is more talented than her."

Naruto originally had no intention of teaming up with anyone, and seeing their cold attitude, he couldn't help but mock himself, "I'm a burden?"

"Priestess sister, thank you for your kindness."

Before he left, he paused, and without turning his head, said:

"Oh, right, as high-level adventurers, don't fall into a ditch."

"I…"

Alicia watched Naruto's retreating back, wanting to speak but holding back.

Kane put down the greatsword on his shoulder, a hint of jealousy in his tone, and asked in confusion, "Alicia, why are you paying attention to a greenhorn new adventurer?"

"Our goal is to be a gold-ranked adventurer, no, to defeat the Demon God King!"

Kane grandly swung his greatsword a few times.

The Counter Lady reminded him crossly, "Sir Kane, please do not wield weapons in the Guild!!"

The figure at the Guild entrance had disappeared, but Alicia had not yet withdrawn her gaze. She covered her heart with one hand and whispered in confusion, "I don't know either. Recently, I've been having heart palpitations, but when I saw him just now, the palpitations disappeared, and I felt a strange sense of security. Perhaps it's a hint from the supreme god?"

Kane and his companions laughed.

"Sense of security? What kind of sense of security can a twelve or thirteen-year-old brat give you?"

"Don't worry, with us here, no monster will harm you in the slightest!"

After leaving the Adventurers' Guild, Naruto walked and opened the newly activated Underground City Mall.

He casually flipped through it; basically, it contained items from the Goblin Slayer world, including equipment, magic, skill books, profession scrolls, and so on.

The most expensive item among them was [Dice of the Gods], which required 100,000 exchange coupons to purchase.

[Dice of the Gods]

[Quality: Red]

[Description: A long, long time ago, the gods of light, order, and destiny, and the gods of darkness, chaos, and chance, decided not to fight each other to determine which side would dominate the world. Instead, they decided to settle it with dice.

That's right, these are the dice the gods used for their bets.

You can use this dice to bet with the gods. If you win, there's a reward, and if you lose, you'll be punished. If you can win against all the gods, you can dominate the entire world!]

"A tool that can bet with the gods, that's quite interesting."

"But the price is too expensive; I can only look."

100,000 exchange coupons made Naruto hesitate.

Moreover, this item only provided an opportunity to bet with the gods, not a guaranteed win.

It would be fine if he won.

But if he accidentally lost, who could withstand the punishment of a god?

Naruto stopped thinking and focused on heading to Iron Water Village.

The forest outside Iron Water Village.

Two Goblins hid behind a bush, whispering and chirping to each other, seemingly discussing something, while pointing towards Iron Water Village in the distance.

They seemed to be deliberating whether to launch a night raid on Iron Water Village.

Suddenly.

From the trees above the bush, three cold glints flashed.

Three cross-shaped black shuriken were spinning rapidly in mid-air, attacking in a triangular formation.

With a few "thump-thump" sounds.

One shuriken pierced through the back of a Goblin's neck, blood gushing out, killing it instantly.

The remaining two shuriken struck the other Goblin's shoulder and back, causing a significant amount of blood to flow profusely.

The intense pain made the Goblin's bestial horizontal pupils suddenly contract, and it let out a shrill scream.

It grabbed a wooden stick and tried to escape.

"Rustle"

Leaves rustled, and a figure in an orange jacket descended from the sky, holding a kunai with both hands. The sharp tip of the blade pierced through the Goblin's neck from top to bottom.

"Thud!"

The Goblin fell to the ground, its health bar instantly depleted.

[Eliminated one Goblin, Experience + 10 points]

[Eliminated one Goblin, Experience + 10 points]

"This is the third Goblin."

Naruto stepped on the Goblin's corpse with his blue Ninja shoes, pulled out the kunai, casually flicked off the blood from the blade, and calmly scanned his surroundings.
