Diana managed to barely move out of the way as the axe split the ground in two. She let her guard down during a fight. She should not have done that. But then Artemis never should have picked this fight in the first place.
Diana gritted her teeth as she swung her sword. "We are sisters! We should not be fighting!" Artemis deflected the strike with a spot of metal that was on her arm. "Why are you doing this? Just to punish me!"
Artemis grunted and swept her axe in an arc that forced Diana back. Artemis was clearly still not up to her old level. Diana could take advantage of that. She just needed to get close in order to exploit her weakness. "Of course not! I am doing this because this is where the gods sent me! Aren't you Themescyrian Amazons always talking about following the gods!"
Diana flinched as a stray thought reminded her of what they had been up to recently. Did the gods know? Is that why they sent Artemis here? To stop her? "Maybe the gods sent you here to help me! Did you think of that?" Diana asked as she had to block a strike that sent her flying back into some shipping containers.
Artemis flinched and then looked downward like she was lost in thought. Diana's eyes lit up as she realized she had a way to turn this around. "You are right, maybe the gods sent me here to help you…" Artemis visibly relaxed as Diana approached.
"That is right." Diana sighed as she walked forward. "So we should-" Diana flinched as she felt the threat of danger and a moment later she was getting punched in the face. She felt her head ring in pain as she flew backwards and impacted into something.
She was shaking the spots out of her vision as she stood up and looked over at Artemis with a glare. Artemis was smirking before but now she was fully smiling. "Ha… there it is. The ruthless nature of your family. You look like you want to split me in two."
"Artemis… I am going to beat the shit out of you." Diana declared.
"Really? Are you going to do it without a weapon?" Artemis asked sarcastically as she pointed her greataxe at a sword that was embedded into the side of a shipping container. When Diana had been hit she had lost her grip on both her shield and sword.
Diana looked down at her hands as she processed this. Then she looked at Artemis and growled before tensing her legs and jumping forward. Going right to the sword. But she never reached it as she was hit by the axe and sent flying up into the air.
This time she was able to shake off the disorientation as she leveled herself out and floated in the air. But a moment later she brought her bracers together and blocked another attack from Artemis.
Ding!
The sound of metal on metal echoed throughout the entire city as a flash between red and yellow energies occurred in the sky. The exchange lasted only a moment but it would take a few minutes for the visual effect to wear off.
Boom! Crash!
Diana blacked out for a moment before waking up just in time for her back to slam into the top of an abandoned building. Then she crashed through several of the floors. When she stopped she was breathing heavily while she could feel several of her bones were broken. Then there was the exhaustion that was about to take her. She did not realize when it happened but it did.
The accumulation of injuries from earlier in the day when those robots attack. Along with her worries regarding Kal. Then there were the injuries she had just received. Tacking all of her exhaustion on top of it she could tell that she had just received the beating that would put her out of commission for a few days at least.
Then there was this red energy that she could faintly feel on her arms. They made them so heavy. But Diana could not let Artemis win. She began getting up and looked through the hole in the ceiling just in time to see Artemis coming straight down at her.
Artemis barely had time to tense her muscles before the bling end of the axe slammed into her. Then Diana was out like a candle that was blown out.
Crash! Boom! Crash!
There were several loud noises as the levels of the building collapsed. Then the building collapsed entirely. In the center of the abandoned and destroyed building standing over an unconscious Diana on the basement level was Artemis. Artemis looked down at Diana and frowned.
She considered for a moment that she could just end the woman completely. But she reconsidered as she could feel a slight tingling on her neck and looked to the sky. She sighed and moved to the side before picking up Diana and throwing her unconscious body over her shoulder.
Then she walked toward the mercenary base. But part of the way there she stopped. "Ah… I forgot her lasso and weapons." She turned to go back but stopped when she saw Ivy appear. She was being moved by a plant. "Ivy, can you get her lasso, sword, and shield? I forgot the lasso in the destroyed building and the other two things are out at the docks."
Ivy raised an eyebrow. "Very well. I will take care of it. Go ahead and head back to the roof. The others are already talking. Also have you thought about my offer?" Ivy asked as she slowly began moving to the building.
Artemis grunted and thought for a moment before nodding. "I accept. It is not like I am a virgin anyways. Not to mention it sounds fun. Seeking pleasure more for the sake of pleasure rather than companionship or anything else." Artemis nodded her head. "Are we doing it tonight or…?"
"Hmm… no not tonight. Someone else has asked for his time tonight. But if you want… me and you can get busy tonight." Ivy offered as a vine tendril of hers wrapped around Artemis' leg.
Artemis thought for a moment before nodding her head. "Very well. I accept." She adjusted her grip on Diana and turned to keep on walking. "Keep in mind, I am the dominant type of woman."
