He didn't realize he had been staring until Chairman Jang's eyes shifted and landed on him.
"And who is this?"
The omega blinked and straightened. "Kang Jihoon."
He bowed quickly. "Please accept my condolences, Chairman. I'm sorry for your loss."
Chairman Jang's wrinkles deepened with his faint smile. "You're more sincere than most of the people here. The rest are just bootlickers pretending to mourn."
Jihoon wasn't sure how to respond to that. The unexpected compliment left him momentarily frozen.
He couldn't believe he was attending the burial of the man that threatened him for weeks.
The omega felt confused, angry and relieved all at once. He felt like the biggest hypocrite, offering condolences when he was secretly happy that the man was gone.
He looked away from the photograph, choosing to admire the scenery instead.
The old man's gaze fell on Junghoon. "Who is he to you?"
The alpha smiled. "He's my mate."
