Chapter 161: A Minute's Work, A Lifetime Restored

"You must be..."

Gai Jiuyou looked up as his disciple approached with the Raven, and genuine surprise crossed his weathered face.

He'd been watching the events at Yaochi through his divine sense, so he knew the full story. He'd figured his foolish disciple's efforts would fail, but somehow the disciple had actually succeeded in bringing this mysterious Raven here.

Gai Jiuyou cupped his hands respectfully toward the Raven, but before he could finish his greeting, a stream of bright energy surged forward and merged into his failing body.

The vitality that flooded through him felt ancient and powerful. Energy mixed with time forces quickly rewove his flesh, muscles, and bones, and his injured Great Dao mended as his body returned to its prime.

"It is done. Adios."

Without ceremony, the Raven tore reality apart in air and left with Valdo, the golden-armoured sentinel still keeping his eternal watch.

The whole thing had lasted less than a minute.

Xia Jiuyou blinked, still trying to process what had happened. The mysterious figure had already vanished.

Gai Jiuyou went through confusion, then shock, then disbelief, and finally pure joy. The surging vitality inside him made everything feel like an impossible dream, but the vast ocean of qi and blood confirmed it wasn't.

Had he really recovered all his strength so easily?

He took a single step, and his peak Quasi-Emperor power erupted in full.

The heavens themselves responded, winds shifted dramatically, clouds churned, and the very air trembled under his restored might.

Across Beidou, powerhouses from every major faction felt that unmistakable pressure, and their faces showed deep alarm.

If things had been different, if Gai Jiuyou hadn't lived so close to the Azure Emperor's era, he would've achieved full enlightenment long ago. Even while suppressed by that cosmic law, Gai Jiuyou had found another path and reached somewhere between peak Quasi-Emperor and complete Great Emperor.

Later, injuries to his Great Dao had slowly worn away his cultivation, and his shrinking lifespan forced him to stay at just the peak Great Saint realm.

Now he was reborn and restored to his prime. The Azure Emperor's Great Dao traces had finally faded completely, so the chance for true enlightenment had returned.

Gai Jiuyou stood only one final breakthrough away from achieving the Dao, one step from becoming an Emperor.

"What's happening? Is someone about to achieve enlightenment?"

In the Restricted Zones, the Supremes felt both startled and deeply worried.

This era would see the opening of the Immortal Path, which was an opportunity none would give up willingly. But many Supremes had stayed sealed for too long, and emerging now would force them to unleash Dark Turmoil, harvesting countless lives to restore their qi and blood.

An undamaged Great Emperor would seriously threaten their plans.

Word quickly spread about who had released such a terrifying aura.

"Gai Jiuyou! Wasn't he supposed to be dying?"

"How did he suddenly get young again?"

"This makes no sense!"

Leaders of the various clans felt both surprised and angry. The Saints among them had all met Gai Jiuyou before; his lifespan had been nearly gone, his strength constantly declining, which explained his rare public appearances.

Now that he'd recovered his peak condition, what say would the other clans have in anything?

The Human Race was destined to dominate Beidou.

When Ye Fan and his companions learned about Gai Jiuyou's rebirth and his chance for enlightenment, they came to congratulate him.

If Gai Jiuyou achieved the Dao, the Human Race would gain another Great Emperor, and even facing the crisis of the Immortal Path, their chances of survival would improve dramatically.

"My disciple invited that mysterious Raven," Gai Jiuyou explained. "He healed my Dao injuries while restoring me to my prime."

Ye Fan and the others were shocked by his words.

The Raven had only recently arrived on Beidou, yet he'd already become legendary. Every cultivator knew about this powerful newcomer.

First, he'd boldly swept through the Restricted Zones, then he'd shown he could extend lifespans and grant people entire extra lifetimes.

Too many secrets surrounded him.

Without his golden-armoured guardian's protection, he probably would've been captured and studied long ago.

"We have to get our hands on this guy," the Hei Huang said, practically drooling.

The Raven carried precious medicines and rare treasures from multiple Restricted Zones and sacred lands, making him incredibly wealthy. He could extend lifespans and grant additional lifetimes, more valuable than any immortal medicine.

Countless people wanted him, and everyone hoped to capture this mysterious Raven.

"If you don't want to die, don't even think about it," Ye Fan warned. "That GoldenArmoured Guardian have incredible strength and control over mysterious laws. Even a Great Saint couldn't match them."

"Don't worry, I'm not that stupid," Hei Huang promised.

Ye Fan looked at Hei Huang with obvious doubt; he didn't think this guy would stay honest for long.

Sure enough, shortly after, both Hei and Duan De approached Xia Jiuyou and asked how he'd managed to invite the Raven.

They learned that the figure had a weakness for potato seedlings, so they immediately set off.

Within days, they'd caused chaos across Beidou.

One man and one dog broke into medicine gardens everywhere and raided tombs, searching for those special potato varieties.

The Emperor had been deep in studying the Eternity Planet's vessel, unraveling secrets that had stumped people for thousands of years.

When the Raven returned, he got notification of their success. He didn't need to be directly involved, the threads of fate rewarded his planning.

[Fate node altered by 5%. Acquired: Saint-level mech forging techniques, Saint-level war fortress blueprints, Saint-level warship schematics, specialised evolution serums, advanced breathing methodologies..."]

A flood of knowledge poured into the Emperor's mind. Even for someone who had walked among gods and shaped the destinies of worlds, absorbing such complete technical wisdom took several minutes of focused work.

When the process finished, satisfaction crossed his features.

This was exactly what his grand design needed.

Combining technology and Psychic power would be key in the Imperium's conquest of the Multiverse itself.

"I'll test these innovations, then leave for Eternity Planet," the Emperor decided, his thoughts already turning toward greater campaigns.

On Eternity Planet, he might discover even deeper fusions of science and magic, tools worthy of his endless ambition.

Meanwhile, the Raven kept himself busy preparing fries.

As someone serious about his cooking, the Raven naturally understood the production process, and it didn't take long to produce several batches of finished fries.

The fries, enhanced with precious divine medicines, had a truly unique flavour. Eating them released spiritual energy that made every cell feel amazing.

The special potato seedling from Xia Jiuyou produced excellent results.

While the Emperor continued his research and creation, the Raven found himself restless and decided to venture out again.

He was going to search for divine medicines suitable for mixing into fries, and maybe he'd extend the lives of a few dying old-timers along the way.

When word spread of the Raven's reappearance, both Black Emperor(Hei Huang) and Duan De immediately chased after him using formation altars.

But they weren't alone; many other powerhouses closely followed the Ravens' trail.

Especially those nearing the end of their lifespans, their eyes glowed with desperate hope. They wanted this mysterious figure to show them mercy and give them extended lives to continue their cultivation journey.

Realising too many people were chasing the Raven, the unscrupulous duo quickly came up with a sneaky plan.

While those people surrounded the Raven, offering treasures and begging for extended life, they quietly set up formation patterns in the void.

When the Raven left for another location, the crowd activated their formation altars to follow, but found themselves teleported to desolate, freezing wastelands instead.

With their competition gone, the pair used their own formation altar to reach the Ravens' true location.

"Senior."

"Senior, we have something to show you, excellent potato seedlings, all of them."

Raven, at this point, wanted to ignore everyone since he found their attention annoying.

However, Hei Huang's words made him pause.

He'd come out to search for precious soil that could grow divine medicines, and he also wanted the unique potato and tomato varieties of this world, so he could cultivate them carefully.

"You have some?" The Raven landed before the Black Emperor and Duan De.

"Absolutely, and plenty of them," Duan De said, presenting his collection like a precious treasure.

Raven examined them; all contained spiritual essence and would taste far better than ordinary varieties.

"Is there someone you want me to heal? Or help live another lifetime?" the Raven asked.

"No, no," the Black Emperor grinned, showing white teeth. "No one needs saving right now. Can we save it for later?"

"Fine." The Raven nodded casually, flicked out a wing to collect the potato seedlings, then projected a stream of light into their foreheads.

"From now on, when you clench your fists and say 'God of Fries and Ketchup,' I'll answer."

After saying this, the Raven turned to leave.

"I have connections! We can find more of these seedlings!" Hei Huang called out urgently. "I'll take you to the Trial Road, to various life planets. I guarantee a bountiful harvest!"

The Raven stopped and turned to study the Black Emperor, showing genuine interest.

As the former companion of a Supreme Being, the Hei Huang held a unique status in this universe, and even the Raven couldn't thoroughly read his fate lines and thoughts.

"Such eager help suggests you want something else," the Raven observed. "What do you really want?"

"Take us both with you, and we'll share the benefits," the Hei Huang extended his paw.

The Raven thought for a moment, then nodded.

"That will do fine."

After all, he only wanted new flavoured fries, those rare treasures and divine medicines meant nothing to him personally.

After allying with the Black Emperor and Duan De, Raven returned to check on his companion.

The Emperor was still deep in his experimental work, unravelling cosmic mysteries with focused intensity.

Valdor, as usual, kept his silent watch, a golden sentinel whose duty involved standing like a statue all day.

The Raven told Valdo to inform the Emperor of his departure once the Lord of Mankind finished his current work, then the Raven set off on a journey into the void with his two unlikely guides.

For most powerhouses, travelling through the void was really challenging. They relied on artefacts like five-colored altars or divine light platforms built at various locations, which allowed travel between life planets and pocket dimensions.

But for Raven, it was like most; for him, crossing the void took no more effort than spreading his wings, simple for someone who had mastered the fundamental forces that held reality together.
