Synopsis
In the neon-lit streets of Kyongseong, old secrets are hidden in the shadows of skyscrapers. Wei Lian lives on a knife edge in this city: hero or monster? By day, as a brilliant forensic expert of the Kyongseong Police Department, he solves crimes in cold blood. By night he is a shadow, an assassin weaving deadly threads with his Blood Qi, sworn to hunt only those who deserve it. Turning his blood into a weapon, this cursed power both gives him the upper hand and threatens his very soul. But as the line between justice and revenge blurs, the rise of the Red Cult plunges Kyongseong into chaos. The sect's leader, Baek Ryu, has a dark connection to Wei Lian's tragic past, forcing her to confront long-buried ghosts. As his Blood Qi grows stronger with each murder, Wei Lian's humanity slowly melts away, and the shadows within him whisper a dark path. As his colleague Hye-jin's suspicions grow and the enigmatic Shadow Council watches his every step, Wei Lian must navigate a web of betrayal, power and his own crumbling soul. Can he protect the Shadow Code and save Kyongseong, or will the blood lust of his Blood Qi swallow him up? In this city where light and shadow collide, there is only one truth: Every blade has a price, and Wei Lian's will be paid in blood.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 0: Prologue

The neon lights of Kyongseong are the reason why night never falls in this city. As the sky disappears between the steel and glass towers, the streets carry the scent of blood. This city blinds you with its beauty, but the truths hidden in its shadows are always dark. I am Wei Lian, the hunter of these shadows. And my hunt begins tonight.

As rain fell on a narrow alley, a figure cloaked in blood-red stood trembling, clinging to the wall. The man's eyes were filled with fear and guilt. Kang Ji-ho, a Blood Priest. A corrupted soul. A monster who sacrificed the blood of three innocents to increase his own power. According to the Shadow Code, his end had come.

In my hand, a thin, red thread born from my Blood Qi trembled. Silently, I approached like a shadow. Kang Ji-ho's breath caught; he had noticed me. But it was too late. My thread glided through the air like a snake and wrapped around his wrists. He struggled and screamed, but his voice was lost in the roar of Kyongseong.

"Why?" he whispered, his eyes locked helplessly on me. "Who are you?"

I did not answer. The Shadow Code does not require me to speak. It only delivers justice.

The thread of blood wrapped around his throat, and a moment later, it was over. Kang Ji-ho collapsed to the ground, his eyes staring blankly at the neon lights. My heart was beating as fast as ever. The disgusting pleasure of killing, the dance of Kan Qi in my veins...

This is my curse. The code Meister Shen taught me chains this urge, but with every kill, the chains grow weaker. Am I a savior, or just a monster?

In the distance, police sirens began to echo. Hye-jin's team was closing in. Her sharp mind could one day uncover my secret. But not tonight. I pulled back the thread of blood, blended into the shadows, and plunged into the darkness of Kyongseong.

This city is full of criminals. And I am their nightmare. But the real nightmare is growing inside me. My blood Qi grows stronger with every kill. And one day, it may consume me.
