Chapter 26: Haruno Arrives! A Big Sister's Discovery!
"I wonder if Yukino-chan misses me. I'll give her a surprise."
Yukinoshita Haruno, the eldest daughter of the Yukinoshita Family, stood in front of her sister's apartment building, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. She had a youthful face similar to Yukino's, but where her sister was cool and elegant, Haruno was vibrant and curvaceous. Teasing her younger sister was her favorite hobby. Just like now, she planned to raid the apartment and give her a 'surprise.'
"Ding!" The elevator stopped, and the doors opened. A woman in high heels stepped out. A boy in a black hoodie walked in. They brushed past each other.
As if sensing something, she turned her head. Through the slowly closing doors, she saw a pair of clear, golden eyes, deep in thought. "Thump!" Her heart pounded suddenly. Sealed memories flooded her mind. Those were also a pair of golden eyes she found unforgettable, but those eyes had been filled with an inscrutable melancholy.
The door had already closed. Her hand unconsciously touched her short hair. It was from that time that I cut my hair. Memories that shouldn't have been recalled. "It must be a misconception," she deceived herself. She really wanted to go and see, but she didn't have the courage. She adjusted her mindset, putting on her familiar smiling mask, and walked towards Yukino's room. We can no longer meet.
"Ding-dong!" Click!
"Sister?" Yukino, who opened the door, saw the person who made her feel so complicated.
"Hi, little Yukino-chan! Did you miss me?" Haruno waved lightly.
"No." Yukino said coolly and returned inside.
Haruno's lips curved with meaning. She expertly changed her shoes and entered, lazily lying on the sofa like it was her own home. Seeing black tea on the table, she picked it up. But suddenly, Yukino swiftly stopped her.
"What are you doing?!"
"Hmm? Drinking water?" Haruno blinked her clear, watery eyes.
"Don't." Yukino forcefully snatched the cup, took it to the kitchen, poured it out, and washed it.
"???" Haruno was bewildered. What was that about? Suddenly, she noticed another cup of black tea on the table. So, two cups had been poured. One was her sister's. The other was not for her.
"…" Haruno sat up, her eyes narrowing. As a big sister who doted on her younger sister, she keenly sensed the trick. Then she began to look around. There was a lot of water at the bathroom door. The disciplined Yukino would never allow that. A cup of water, poured for someone unknown, yet it caused such a strong reaction. The black tea was still warm. Her sister's hair had a faint, fresh scent. Yukino just took a bath.
But besides her, there was someone else in this house, just a short while before she arrived! This conjecture shocked her. Her seemingly fragile sister had brought someone home while she was bathing! Could it be a man?!
Yukino returned with a fresh cup. Haruno immediately changed her expression, saying casually, "Yukino-chan, you're in your second year of high school now. Have you gone bad and started dating early?" After saying that, she added as if warning, "Mother would never allow such a thing."
"…" At that instant, Yukino's body stiffened slightly. She immediately said flatly, "A childish question. I'm not interested in dating."
Haruno's serious expression switched back to a brilliant smile. "Is that so? That's good." However, a sharp glint flashed in the corners of her narrowed eyes. Yukino's movements were fully observed. She was certain. Yukino's heart had wavered. A man had just been here! Ah, it seems my cute little sister has caught someone's eye. I can't allow that.
