Aurora was now stuck in the dilemma of choosing between her heart and her mind. Her instincts, hardened by fighting countless battles, her mind filled with an abundance of knowledge of the world, were now screaming at her, telling her to kill the child who was looking at her with sorrow-filled eyes.
She turned her head to look at the sky once covered by the roof. The sky was still crying through thunder while lightning destroyed everything in its fury.
Then she looked at her husband, crushed by the pressure which didn't affect her in the slightest. She saw his body covered in blood—her heart felt like it was being torn in two. Tears started flowing through her eyes as she made her decision.
"Sorry, sorry, I'm sorry, m…my child. I—I lo…love you, but you have to…"
Words got stuck in her throat, not coming out of her lips. Her hands carrying the baby started trembling, tears continued to flow through her eyes, falling on the child's face. She looked like a woman who seemed to have lost everything.
She carried the baby with her left hand as she moved her right hand—a thin, long sword materializing in it.
She knew that it should not be possible to kill a monster that had crushed her husband without moving a muscle, but she felt that if she tried to kill him, he would die without any resistance.
Her trembling hands carrying the sword moved with a slowness that seemed like an eternity.
The sword reached the heart of the child, its tip pressing against his chest. A faint trail of blood leaked from his chest.
Seeing the blood, Aurora froze. All thoughts vanished from her head, the world itself seemed to come to a standstill.
The sword was placed against the child's chest, but she felt her heart being ripped apart.
She quickly moved her hand, throwing the sword away and hugging the child tightly to her chest. Her knees gave up under her as she fell on them, tightly clutching him.
"Sorry, Vincent. I can't do it. He is my child, my blood. I can't hurt him. Even if the world ends today, I can't hurt my child," she whispered, tears still flowing through her eyes. Her voice was filled with pain.
Just as her words ended, the world came to a halt. This time it was not the world inside her head, but the world outside. Darkness vanished as if it was never there. Thunder silenced as if diving into a deep slumber. The trembling of the earth stopped. Rays of sunlight fell on her body as if the heavens were blessing her for her determination and love.
Vincent's pov
Vincent lay unconscious, his face crushed in the ground. Slowly his eyes opened only to see the broken pieces of floor ahead of him. He tried to move his body but was unable. He realized that all the bones in his body were broken.
The memories of what happened flowed into his mind. His brows creased. Veins on his face formed and his heart started beating faster.
He used the man in his body to stand up. Every single moment caused his face to contort in pain.
He looked around only to see himself standing among t the debris of what once was a magnificent mansion. Then his eyes fell on Aurora sitting on the ground while hugging the child in her arms.
He waves his hand,a bottle appearing from the air. He quickly gulped the contents of the bottle. Soon he felt a warm energy filling his body, his bones joined while muscles and vain repaired his entire body was damaged.
He then moved toward Aurora. His hand moves toward her shoulder as he spoke.
"Aurora are you alright?" He asked.
He could hear the breathing sound from her and there were no visible injury marks on her body so he knew she was fine. But he was more worried about her mental health.
Aurora lifted her head and looked at him. Her face still had layers formed of tears.
"I'm fine Vincent," She spoke, "what about you are you alright how is your body?"
Vincent signed in relief as he saw her in healthy condition.
"I'm fine, the healing potion healed my body and there are no permanent damages." He replied,
"So would you tell me what happened?"
Aurora looked down at the child in her arms then she again looked at Vincent.
"I don't really-"she stopped. Turning her again again to look at the child.
Vincent who saw it frowned. His eyes fell on the child whose body was trembling.
Seeing the movement in the child horror replaced his calm face as his body trembled. Instinctively his hand moved as a sword materialized in his arms.
He saw the trembling of the child increase, his grip on the sword tightened.
Then he heard Aurora's voice. he looked at her only to see two cold eyes looking at him.
"Vincent put that sword down."she said, her voice unusually cold.
Vincent frowned hearing the unusually cold voice of his wife.
"But Aurora-" He tried to retort but then he noticed blood leaking from the child's mouth.
Soon the child's entire body turned blooded as blood started from his eyes, nose and ears and the child's breath got rigid.
"Vincent do something," Aurora shouted with a terrified look on her face, bringing him out of his thoughts.
He moved his arm to a wooden orb materializing from air. He quickly broke the orb light emanated from the orb making their figure vanish.
