Chapter 32 - Eira's past [6] : The Confession Beneath the Tree

He was surprised; his face turned red. Her hands were shaking.

She raised her hand and gently pressed it on his chest. A green light shone brightly, making her mana flow out of her palm.

She walked a bit backward, blushing.

He smiled and said, "So you noticed. I'm glad."

She turned her face, giving him her back. "Why are you glad?"

He brushed it off, saying, "Nah, it's nothing."

He took off his uniform coat and put it on her back. "Gotta be warm, we don't want you catching a cold."

She turned around with hungry eyes, desperately trying to see his reaction. "But it's... it's wet."

He smiled at her. "Well... sorry."

She smiled back, accepting it. "It's okay."

Well... magic is magic. Healing is magic. Cold is just a sign of the body saying it is very cold, not a flu—as it can be healed. He looked at her with lovely eyes.

She looked at him, her eyes relaxing. They stared at each other, their heartbeats rhythmically echoing.

"Let's go back to the tree. I guess we can stay on the tree... t—together. If you want, that is?"

Suddenly, they walked far apart—like ten footsteps. Both looked in another direction, peeking at each other until they reached there.

He said, "Ladies first."

She gave him her hand; he took it, and they climbed the tree. She sat near the trunk, and he sat down at the end of the branch.

Watching the merchants and the market ground, the people celebrating... they stayed there all day, forgetting class.

Their clothes dried a bit. It had been about hours now. She felt ashamed for not saying anything. After all, she wanted to continue talking to him. Even if she had a dark past, she was still an ordinary magic academy student.

She asked, "Why are you being nice... You are nice to commoners in our class, unlike the others."

He sank deep into thought. Then he slapped his face.

"I don't care. I mean, I only care about the fact that we all are human. That's all that matters to me."

"But doesn't your reputation... get ruined?"

"Ohh... Eira, you worry too much, you know. It's okay, I don't care about that as well. Even if it's ruined, I can fix it in seconds. I'm the almighty, after all."

"Wait... you know my name??"

"Who doesn't? You're the prettiest girl in our class. No—more like the baddest. The boys call you that, though."

She blushed, covering her face with her hands, peeking at him through the small space between her fingers.

"W—wha...at?"

"Ohh... sorry, did I offend you? I was casually talking about it. Talk about grief."

"No. It's okay. I like it that way."

Now it was his turn to blush. "Wait, what... for real?"

She gazed down and said to him, "Yeah, why not."

He suddenly changed his expression.

"Why do I feel this murdering intent coming from you?"

She was astonished, her eyes wide open. She whispered to herself, "How... no, was I careless?"

"Wh...aat?"

He raised an eyebrow.

"My family Hazen's fighting style lets me sense people's true self—the nature they hide. I won't lie to you, for some reason I'm attracted to you... but I'm pretty aware that you killed someone. Tell me about it. Tell me."

She glanced at the market. "Promise me you won't tell anyone."

He gazed at the merchants as well.

"In the name of my ancestors, I won't tell anyone."

She began telling how her mother and father divorced. Slowly, she told him about her past and her present.

It made him feel special to her—not because he suspected her, but because she purely believed in him. He was the first person she had ever told this to.

He hugged her as her tears fell. She was so immersed in her past, as if she couldn't escape it. She told him about the day she lost her chastity.

He got so emotional and said to her, "Don't worry. I'm here. I will make your dreams come true. I will make you experience the best in life."

That's how he and her formed a very strong intimacy. They both kept dreaming about it and felt ashamed of showing their faces.

The Next Day.

She entered the class, blushing. He always sat in the front, while she sat at the back. He saw her and smiled, but she walked past him as fast as she could.

Their class rep knew something was suspicious. Honestly, she was a bit jealous of her as well. So she tried to make her feel low by standing up and saying to her face,

"Why weren't you present yesterday in the afternoon classes?"

Eira sat in her place, ignoring the rep's question. The worst thing that could happen was if she talked back—she would only end up being a fool. If she just stayed silent, she might be disrespected. The girls who hated her, who had never even seen an angel who was a commoner like her, used the rep's back to pressure her.

And so he stood up and said, "I was absent too." Vernon—the strongest and most handsome man.

Everyone was shocked. The class turned into a concert.

The class rep faked a smile.

He kicked the academy's desk. Then he said to her,

"Leave my girl alone!" Out of pride and dignity, he held her hand and took her out of the class.

The boys were disappointed and angry. A lot of girls were jealous.

That's how they became fiancées. The moment he got out in the hall he said,

"S—sorry. I must have lost my mind."

She said, "No, I like it. I would love to be yours."

He slammed her to the wall, slightly pushing her. She placed her hands on his shoulders, pulling him toward her. He was a bit taller, so he bent his neck and gave her—

A FRENCH KISS.

At that very moment, a teacher saw them.

It wasn't just a random low-key teacher who saw them.

IT WAS THE PRINCIPAL!!
