Chapter 50 - CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE

Esther's Secret

Favour hadn't planned to see Esther again, especially not at the Women of Power gala in New York.

She spotted her across the hall wearing a sleek black gown, hair in tight coils, standing beside… Cora Greene.

The agent?

A cold understanding slithered through her spine.

She approached cautiously.

"Didn't think I'd see you again," Favour said.

Esther turned, smiled. "You always underestimate me."

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm the one who pitched your story to Cora," Esther said without blinking. "I gave her the idea. Pushed your name. You're welcome."

"You… what?"

"You had the story, but I had the angle. You would've played it safe. But the world doesn't reward quiet Nigerian wives. They reward trauma queens."

Favour stared, heart pounding.

"You used me."

"No," Esther replied, stepping closer. "I resurrected you."

Before Favour could respond, Esther leaned in.

"And by the way… your husband? Not as faithful as he looks."
