Daniel sat in his office after a long board meeting. His phone buzzed—an unknown number with a +1 country code.
He picked up.
"Daniel Obiora?"
"Yes."
"I'm calling from Bellevue Women's Health in Boston. A woman named Nadine listed you as her emergency contact."
He froze.
"I don't know anyone named—"
"She says she's carrying your child."
Blood drained from his face.
"Excuse me?"
"She's in distress. She requested you."
The call ended abruptly.
Daniel sat in silence.
Was this… a setup?
Back home, he dialed Favour, trying to stay calm.
"Love, I need to tell you something—"
But she interrupted. "I saw Esther again."
That name again.
Daniel's mind swirled.
"Daniel?" she asked. "You're scaring me. What's wrong?"
He took a breath.
"There's a woman claiming I got her pregnant."
Silence.
Then: "Are you joking?"
"No."
"Is it true?"
"I swear on my life, I've never heard that name before today."
Favour exhaled slowly. "We're under attack."
