Chapter 3 - Behind them

Darlick woke up but did not leave his bed yet.

"You worthless bastard," he said, reaching up with his hand, his mind elsewhere.

"They may have been practicing all night, and their fencing skills have already reached a high level." He pulled his hand back and sat up on his bed.

Prepare your skills.

"Why only two points?" He sighs, not understanding.

"Why didn't [rhythm] help me meditate before either?"

"So yesterday's exercises count as breathing exercises too? I guess it's because of [rhythm]."

He got out of bed, washed up, and headed for the forest.

[Meditating]

[Description: Your soul seeks peace and your heart is filled with determination]

"Determination my ass, I'm already behind them and we're only on the third day, what is this damn race?"

He was deep in thought the whole way and didn't notice the looks he was getting from others

It seems that [peripheral vision] is blind to the glances of others, as it ultimately relies only on the five senses to analyze the surroundings and does not really give superpowers.

"I need a new skill to turn the tables." He looked at his feet.

"Movement technique? Movement skill? But I have no idea about any."

He kept looking around, hoping to find inspiration, but found none, and quickly arrived at the meditation area.

"Damn it all, I'll be the winner in the end. Merge [Endurance] and [Health] with [Deep Meditation]... Wait a minute."

He looked around and made sure the system hadn't responded.

"I wanted a skill that would allow me to meditate for really long periods of time, but if I merge the previous skills with the development of [Breathing], wouldn't all of that combine to become a cultivation technique?" His eyes lit up as he looked around as if he were hiding a treasure.

He sat down and began the session.

He was sitting normally and breathing normally. The scene around him hadn't changed much, as he hadn't been sitting there for long.

Well... standing in front of him were Coach Mark, Leo, Ray, and a rescue team of healers.

[Your skill Breathing has reached the evolution requirement]

"Ha-" And he fainted.

Of course, the paramedics saved him immediately, but it would take some time for him to wake up. He could have died if it weren't for Coach Mark's intervention.

Compared to the 88 hours he spent meditating, it only took him four hours to wake up.

The sounds were distant, and there were a few rays of light.

Darlick slowly opened his left eye, then his right.

"He's awake." Leo stopped practicing with his sword and headed toward the bed.

"Okay, coming." Ray stood up from his lunch mat.

One was eating lunch, the second was practicing, and the third was unconscious.

We show Darlick to the ceiling and find it wooden.

Wooden?

"Here's some water, drink it slowly." Ray handed him a bottle of water.

Darlick sat down slowly, sipped the water, then looked around.

"It looks like a hut, but why am I here and not in my room?"

"What the hell were you doing? If it weren't for Coach Mark, you would have died of malnutrition." Leo stood with his sword over his shoulder.

"Doesn't that hurt him?" Darlick looked surprised but didn't hesitate to respond.

"I think it's all because of that damn [Contemplative] trait. Once I set a goal, my body refuses to give up, it seems."

Well, Darlick expected them to understand. They had the same trait, but...

"What does that have to do with anything? It just makes you want to be calm and a little brave," said Ray as he drank tea that no one knew where it came from.

"Brave?" Darlick and Leo looked at him in surprise.

Leo's eyes flashed.

"So the effect is different? My heart is full of justice." Suddenly, the room temperature dropped a few degrees as he stood up, and again there were no obvious gaps, as if he was ready to fight at any moment.

"My soul seeks peace, and my heart is full of determination." Darlick's eyes flashed, and the room temperature returned to normal.

The trio was in a slightly complicated situation, so no one spoke.

"I'm hungry," he said, looking at Ray.

"Haha, of course, you've been like an ascetic and haven't eaten for more than three days."

Darlick frowned and said nothing.

"How... far have your skills progressed?" he asked with confused eyes, but he didn't really expect an honest answer.

And he didn't get one.

"We haven't really progressed. After mastering fencing skills, we have to create our own technique to succeed, and we're still working on it," said Ray, looking at Leo.

"We're still on the sixth day, our training lasts a whole year, there's still plenty of time, don't rush," Leo put his hand on Darlick's shoulder.

But the latter was still gloomy.

"I really want to sleep..." He ate like a turtle and even forgot to ask where they were.

"You didn't ask where we are. Well, we're a bit of a special group, so my father insisted that we live in the same residence to promote our teamwork and stuff."

"Why a cabin? And why didn't anyone ask my opinion?" Darlick frowned, events getting worse and worse.

"That bastard pissed off the coach, and we're here as collective punishment." He pointed to the bastard in question as he pulled his hand away.

"But I didn't do anything?" Darlick frowned.

"You missed a mandatory class and didn't return to your quarters at night. If it weren't for Coach Mark, you'd be in a terrible situation."

"But your heart is full of determination? Is that what made you chase after a skill for nearly four days, without eating, drinking, sleeping, or even a moment of rest?" he said as he poured tea for the group.

This family has good taste in food.

"I don't know exactly. I still don't fully understand my skills or my name, especially since it turns out that they are different for each of us."

Looking from a distance, the three really do look alike, two of them with blond hair and two of them with red eyes, as if they were at a costume party.

Although they wouldn't get the joke, as it had long since become obsolete.

Darlick put his hands behind his back comfortably and asked,

"So what now?"

Ray replied quickly,

"It'sobvious,showusyournewskill."Andheputdownhissteak.

How did it come to steaks? No one knows.

Darlick frowned as he weighed his options.

"Is it a good idea to show them my only skill that surpasses theirs?"

"We'll teach you fencing. You'll make faster progress than with normal training."

"Yes, it's really simple," Ray agreed. He saved the day.

"Skill development" didn't really need to be said out loud, but it was.

[You have acquired Chi Breathing]

[You have obtained trait]

[Chi Breathing]

[Rank: G]

[Class: Acquired]

[Description: The first step to transcendence]

[Flexible Will]

[Description: Your will is admirable, young man, From the womb of destruction, you will rise]

The temperature of the room rose and the atmosphere changed. Leo and Ray, with their "peripheral senses," were more likely to notice the changes, but they did not understand what had actually changed.

"Every day, the system surprises me with its strangeness, but I am no longer surprised."

Darlick stopped, left the hut, and Leo and Ray followed him.

The atmosphere returned to normal, although there was a feeling that something was still wrong.

"Breathe, Chi."

The air burst into bright green light, rose, and rushed toward him.

It was a breathtaking sight, a boy with black hair and ruby red eyes surrounded by green, as if the air had taken on color.

The chi burst into his bloodstream and he felt more alive than he had ever felt before.

Sleep? How could he even think of sleep when there was such a heavenly feeling?

He raised his hands to the sky and breathed deeply. The qi invaded his blood, organs, heart, and brain. His little fat was burned, his muscles were broken down at the microscopic level and rebuilt over and over again, but he felt no pain.

His body was sculpted with visible muscles, he became stronger, more energetic and healthier, he made progress in moments that athletes need years to achieve.

This is what it means to have superhuman skills, Darlick was marked with excellence.

[Your skill meditation has reached the advancement requirement]

[Your skill deep meditation has reached the advancement requirement]

His sense of superiority increased, reaching the highest point in his life.

The green air attracted attention, and Coach Mark came over.

"I see you did it," he said, looking at him and smiling.

He looked at him and replied with a simple nod.

"This brat has become arrogant," he frowned.

Darlick's body was pulsing with vitality, his spirit urging him to get away from them as soon as possible to try out his new skills.

"Go to the forest and try out your skills, come to the training ground when you're done."

Darlick's eyes lit up and the temperature of the place rose, and he ran off without saying goodbye.

" What's happening to him?" Ray finally asked after the storm had passed.

"Touching the supernatural world as a human also has its downsides. Fainting or loss of control are common."

"Do you expect him to help us breathe quickly?" Leo spoke for the first time in a while.

"I don't know."

"I'm leaving," and Coach Mark disappeared.

Darlick quickly reached his seat and sat down excitedly.

"Chi breathing."

The air around him turned green and rushed toward him. He felt a sense of satisfaction and tranquility he had never felt before.

Darlick forgot his past regrets and worries about the future.

He almost forgot his nightmares.

He suddenly stopped.

"Damn, what have I done? This is dangerous." He stood looking down with a frown.

"Is this an addiction? It's like a drug." It was still nighttime, and he wasn't allowed to stay here, but Coach Mark was watching over him.

He had to develop his skills first before making any decisions.

[You have acquired basic cultivation technique.

[You have awakened basic cultivation technique]

"What is this?"

He went to the status window but did not find the acquired technique.

The acquired technique came from [Meditation] and the innate technique came from [Deep Meditation].

"Really? It's just [Chi Breathing]"

[Basic Cultivation Technique]

[Classification: G]

[Class: Innate]

[Description: Technique for cultivation to peak body formation]

"Really disappointing." He didn't expect that three beings of class G would be the same after all.

"But now I have more room to maneuver."

He sat down and began his child formation session.

"Merge [Health], [Endurance], [Movement] with [Basic Cultivation Technique]."

[I have acquired the Jade Body Technique.]

Darlick smiled. His plan was working, and it was time to take a risk.

"Merge [Perception] with [Chi Breathing]."

[I have acquired Chi Control]

He was about to explode with excitement.

'I sacrificed some of my future progress for rapid progress now.'

His acquisition of Chi Control now meant that he had lost his chance to learn it naturally like everyone else, but it would speed up his progress and recovery.

'Excited to open them now, but it will cause a headache to deal with new things, I must apologize first and sleep, for I have not slept for days'

Darlick got up, dusted off his clothes, and went back to the hut

When he arrived, the fools were eating dinner, so he stood there, not knowing how to speak

Leo looked at him and motioned with his hand.

"Come on, Superhero, the food will get cold."

"I apologize for what happened earlier. I wasn't fully conscious and didn't know what was going on." He avoided looking them in the eye.

"Don't worry about it. My father explained the situation." Ray was secretly amazed by Darlick's visible muscles.

He wanted that.

Leo noticed it too, but it wasn't the right time to ask.

"Come sit down. After dinner, we have a tough workout tomorrow morning." Leo's gaze did not suggest democracy.

"What training? I haven't slept in four days."

"And I haven't slept in six," he replied.

"Huh?"

"Huh."

The other two idiots looked at him, and Ray even dropped his apple.

"Since the sleeping incident on the first day, I decided not to sleep for seven days and to train all the time, so I really need [Chi Breathing] because it will help me regain my vitality."

'A heart full of determination, my ass'
