Saquin gently stood on a branch.
His gaze directed downwards at the battle scene.
"Well, it isn't fair to call this a battle."
The battle was more of a struggle to stay alive.
There were three youths present, two female and a male. From the looks of it, one of the females happened to be the leader of the charge. She was decked out in blue light medieval armour that matched her long hair perfectly, her golden eyes stood out from the uniform color.
The other female was less valiant, with golden blonde wavy hair presiding over her white-colored jumpsuit. Her dressing combined with her beauty gave her the presence of a cheerleader on a field rather than someone in the forest.
The male wore a simple brown light modern armour, a silver spear played in his deft hands, two more hanging at his back. His mildly handsome face was enhanced by his green and black hair.
'His eyes are those of a snake.'
In the chaotic scene, the three of them were engaging a humanoid Underbeast. Even though they were on the losing side and it seemed that any wrong move could lead to death, they were holding on, even if barely.
'That Underbeast is like a armoured three meter human. It is like a combination of a human and the close to extinct creature, a rhinoceros, that I once saw in an auction.'
Just as Saquin evaluated the Underbeast, the trio's struggle to stay alive got increasingly harder.
The lone male among them had his armor scraped by the Underbeast's horns. An inch of space was what saved his life. He stabbed his spear into the ground and used it as a leverage to distance himself.
The cheerleader girl was next on the Underbeast's list of death candidates.
The beast closed in on her.
The girl's heartbeat rate spiked, even Saquin who was up in a tree could hear it. But her reaction was not delayed even though she was clearly petrified.
Her whip shot out towards a nearby tree and wrapped around it. Almost instantly, the girls body shot towards the tree, courtesy of the whip.
'Most likely a Core.' Saquin noted. 'Hmm, it seems weaker than my wings though... Or do I just feel that way.'
The Underbeast did not relent in its pursue, it instantly pivoted and rammed towards the girls new position.
Just as it closed in, a Warhammer came from its side.
Bam!
The hammer landed squarely on the Underbeast's body, but all it did was halt its movement. It was clearly a defensive type.
The blue clad female, also the owner of the warhammer, swiftly distanced herself from the beast.
Her movement seemed fluid, it was clear this was how they had survived all this while going against the beast.
Too bad.
The beast had also gotten used to the routine. And it was tired of this script, it'd rather write its own theatrical masterpiece, starring itself.
According to its script, Miss Blue Armor was the first victim and its opening to the main character world.
Snake like veins spread through its bipedal legs, blue streams of light peeked through them.
It was about to show them the difference between Underbeasts and all candidates, no matter how much strengthened they became.
Underbeast can use Senar.
Boom!
The Underbeast took off in a bang. Its massive form closed in on the unsuspecting blue armored girl. Its horn took a shade of dark blue as energy surged in them, they were aiming for a life.
As an experienced warrior, albeit still a little green in the nose, the female was shocked at the sudden burst of speed from a defensive type beast but she managed to react.
A tower shield manifested in front of her.
Bang!
It was pierced through.
But, that was expected.
Using the force that was transmitted through the shield from the collision with the Underbeast and the strength in her legs, she pushed off the shield gaining distance.
Her form cut through the air...
Bang!
...And entered the embrace of a tree.
Rawrrr!!!
The Underbeast was not done though. Its script might have been altered a bit, but it was still salvageable.
It shook its head, sending the punctured flying.
Just as it was about to take off, it felt two attacks coming at it. But it ignored it.
Clank!
The spear fell down helplessly after hitting its hide. But.
Puchi!
The other attack, a dagger thrown by the cheerleader girl, pierced through.
The Underbeast was peeved, but it really was not going to divert its attention. It flexed its muscle and pushed out the dagger.
Unknown to it, green veins had popped up at the punctured spot.
The beast flexed its leg muscles and was about to take over.
Bang!
A figure crashed into it from up as a black clad punched squarely landed on the back of its skull.
The Underbeast crashed into the ground.
Of course, the assailant was not done just yet.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Punches rained down from above.
The skull gave in to a crack in the third, extended crack in fourth, and was completely crushed in the last.
The three youths were frozen in shock, their eyes glued on the figure standing on the dead Underbeast.
In their vision, they could see:
[
Candidate Saquin.
Tattoo: -
Rank: -
]
"A null rank..." The cheerleader muttered to herself. "He took down a Low-Class Grade One with pure brute force."
"You are among the last arrival!" Suddenly, she beamed as she pieced it all together.
She ran up to Saquin, just to halt her steps as she closed in.
So handsome.
She thought as she collected herself. She then closed in on Saquin who was busy looking at his new notifications.
"Hi, I am Casel." She extended her hand.
Saquin looked up at her, then at her extended hand.
"Huh?" He tilted his head. 'why would a noblewoman stretch out her hands to me?'
"Ouch." Casel blushed under Saquin's deadpan stare.
But she was not offended, she knew all late arrivals were all eccentric, proud or arrogant. They had the right to though, Late Arrivals are never to be trifled with.
They were all freaks.
Some were from huge families with Unique bloodline upwards. Some were bred with Lifeessence. Some were literally freaks of nature. Few were all the above.
From Saquin's cold gaze and looks, she could conclude that the first and last option were the most likely.
"Saquin." Saquin stood up and did a small bow to the Miss, then he went back to checking his notifications. Walking away in the process.
"Huh?!" Casel was taken aback. "Wait... Saquin."
"Yes?" Saquin turned towards her.
"You are headed towards the base right?"
"Hmm." Saquin nodded.
"You do not mind if we go together right?"
Saquin tilted his head at her.
"Well you see, the forest is dangerous. You won't leave a lady in such a place right?"
Saquin head still remain tilted.
"I will take that as a yes." Casel clapped her hands in delight. "Give us a minute to clean up, please."
Saquin simply shrugged. He still could not understand why a noblewoman would engage him. Even if he was the stronger of the party, she was still a noblewoman.
Casel winked at Saquin then went in to check on Miss Blue Armor.
Saquin watched her leave, still lost in his amazement.
"Hmm, is this what is like to be free?"
