The drawing wasn't finished yet, but Wyzett could tell right away—the wizard at its center was unmistakably himself.
Even with just a sketched background, the upright figure wore the same clothes he had on now. The wand, too, was identical: straight, sharp, and coldly elegant, like a bayonet.
To be honest, it was the first time he'd ever seen himself immortalized on paper. The emotion that welled up inside him was impossible to put into words.
Luna pulled an elastic from her pocket and gathered her fluffy hair into a ponytail, speaking with gentle poise. "It's not done yet. I still need to add the flames and the Plimpy fish. I'll show you when it's finished."
Wyzett felt his throat go dry. Out of all the things he wanted to say, only a single word made it out: "Yeah."
With a flurry of graceful movement, Luna packed up her art supplies and sketchbook, rising like a butterfly. She smiled softly. "Professor Wyzett, can we start now?"
Drawing in a deep breath, Wyzett used his Occlumency training to steady his emotions, then pulled up a chair and sat down.
He flipped open his notebook and hand-drawn textbook, finding the pages on the Levitation Charm.
They sat side by side, with two open notebooks between them.
To his surprise, Luna already had a solid grasp of incantation fundamentals. Her pronunciation and intonation were spot on—she could even distinguish between voiced and voiceless consonants.
Wyzett couldn't help but marvel. "Did you study this before? You're way ahead of where I was! When I started Hogwarts, it took me ages to get these right."
"Nope!" Luna's eyes crinkled with delight at his compliment. "When Mum was around, she'd play games and riddles with me."
"So those were incantation techniques?" Wyzett mused. "She never told you directly?"
"She just praised me when I guessed the right answer or said the riddle correctly."
Wyzett nodded, confidence blooming. "In that case, I bet you'll master the Levitation Charm in just one afternoon!"
Once he was sure Luna's pronunciation was solid, he focused on teaching her how to shape her mouth, control the rhythm, and adjust the strength of each syllable.
After a year of wrestling with Ancient Magic, Occlumency, and domestic spells, Wyzett had reviewed everything he'd learned at Hogwarts—determined to be a real teacher, not just a stand-in.
That made his explanations of the Levitation Charm especially thorough.
He gained new respect for Professor Flitwick—handling a classroom full of curious students, fielding every odd question, required true mastery of the spell.
Understanding something yourself was one thing. Explaining it so someone else truly understood? That was a whole different challenge.
Luckily, he and Luna were comfortable together. Their lesson quickly slipped into an easy rhythm—questions and answers flowing back and forth.
Thanks to his careful breakdown of the spell's theory, incantation, and wand movement, Wyzett kept his promise: by the end of the afternoon, Luna was casting the Levitation Charm perfectly.
And she was full of questions. Even after mastering the spell, she kept coming up with fascinating new angles.
Wyzett was only too happy to answer every one.
…
Luna pointed at the incantation. "Professor Wyzett, why can't we pronounce 'Leviosa' as 'Levioso'? Would something bad happen?"
Wyzett explained, "Because 'Leviosa' has a gentle, delicate lift to it. If you say 'Levioso,' it's a much rougher force…"
"It might even damage what you're trying to levitate. Look—Wingardium Levioso!" He picked up his wand and said the spell the way Luna suggested.
The target was a leaf Luna had collected from the garden.
The leaf shot up, slammed into the ceiling, and shattered into fluttering fragments.
…
Luna tilted her head thoughtfully. "Professor Wyzett, if I want the leaf to float higher, besides raising or lowering my wand, is there another way?"
All these "Professor"s were making Wyzett a little dizzy. He followed her lead and asked gently, "What do you think?"
Luna cupped her chin in her hands. "Maybe… imagine the leaf catching an updraft? Like someone blowing it from below?"
"So, not with gestures, but with imagination?" Wyzett murmured. "That would take even more focus…"
"To build the current in your mind, and let the leaf rise just as high as you want!" He picked up his wand, weaving Luna's idea into the spell.
This time, the leaf's ascent changed. Instead of being yanked upward by an invisible hand, it seemed to float, buoyed by a gentle current.
Compared to the usual wand-driven Levitation Charm, this was subtler—more elegant.
Luna laughed. "It's like a butterfly! How lovely!"
…
"And here, at the beginning…" Luna pointed to the first part of the incantation. "Since 'Wing' means wings or flying… and 'ardium' means to soar… Could we just imagine the leaf with wings, and let it fly? Like a real butterfly!"
"That sounds possible!" Wyzett thought it through and nodded.
"To do that, you'd have to let the idea really sink in—maybe even understand what it means to fly on a deeper level."
"Does it have to be so complicated?" Luna hummed a little tune, eyes seeing something only she could see.
"What if we just made it grow wings? If the leaf could sprout wings… that would be wonderful!"
"Grow wings?" Luna's words were like a key, unlocking something in Wyzett's mind—a sudden flash of inspiration.
He'd always had a knack for Transfiguration, maybe even more than for Dark Magic.
"What if I used Transfiguration techniques… to reshape the Levitation Charm itself? Like that owl-shaped ice cream!"
"Only, instead of turning the ice cream into an owl, I'd be reshaping the spell itself…"
"Professor Flitwick's notes, come!" He waved his wand, summoning the Christmas gift from his room.
The notebook was packed with insights about wandless casting and silent spellwork.
Drawing on Flitwick's notes, domestic spell tricks, and his own spark of inspiration…
Wyzett set down his wand, fixed his gaze on the leaf, and snapped his fingers.
Snap!
At the sound, the leaf floated up.
He layered in Luna's "updraft" idea, and even imagined sideways and downward currents.
The leaf danced on invisible breezes, drifting up and down—seemingly at random, but always under Wyzett's gentle guidance.
"Luna! Look!" Wyzett exclaimed, excitement bubbling over as he grabbed her hand…
