Chapter 100: Natsu Living at My House? No Way!
"So you really can eat fire," Noah said, watching Natsu. "What's the use of it?"
Natsu, having finished the flames in a few quick bites, looked much better than before. "When I eat fire, I can recover my magic and stamina."
"If a Fire Dragon Slayer can eat fire, then what can a Sky Dragon Slayer eat?" Ultear, hearing Natsu's words, turned and asked Wendy.
Wendy, who had been a little scared by the fight, had tears welling up in her eyes. Hearing Ultear's question, the tears started to fall. "Don't hit me!"
"I'm not going to hit you. I'm asking if you can eat something, like how Natsu eats fire," Ultear said, a little flustered. Seeing Wendy's fear, she knelt down, gently hugged her, and helped her wipe away her tears.
Wendy finally calmed down. Thinking of Natsu's actions, she said softly to Ultear, "I can eat air."
"Oh! So this is what they mean by being able to live by eating the northwest wind! You're so easy to raise!" Noah couldn't help but say from the field.
Ultear shot him a fierce glare, then said to Wendy, "Don't mind him. How much Dragon Slayer magic can you use, Wendy?"
"I can't use attack magic like Natsu... I only know support magic—" As Wendy spoke, tears began to well up in her eyes again.
"Support magic is great too! Don't worry," Ultear quickly said.
Noah, overhearing them, knocked out Natsu, who was still shouting "I can still fight!", dispelled the barrier, and began to drag him towards Makarov. "Wendy's magic is amazing," he said as he walked. "She can remove poison, reduce fevers, stop pain, heal injuries, and she knows a lot of other support spells. Who would dare say that's not good?"
Ultear looked at Wendy in shock. "Wendy, you can really do all that?"
"Mhm."
"Then you're incredible, Wendy! As far as I know, no one else's magic can do all that. You don't need to worry about not knowing attack magic. What you have is already amazing!"
"Really?" A surprised and happy expression appeared on Wendy's face.
Erza, Cana, and the others, seeing her lack of confidence, all began to praise her as well. Hearing all the compliments, Wendy blushed and lowered her head, embarrassed.
The other guild members, seeing how cute she was and that Noah's fight was over, immediately swarmed them, bombarding Wendy with questions.
"Wendy is so cute!"
"How old are you, Wendy?"
"How did you meet Noah?"
Wendy was clearly frightened. Ultear quickly hugged her, while Erza, Cana, and Sorano dealt with the surrounding crowd. The scene was once again chaotic.
Noah arrived at Makarov's side. The Master looked up and asked, "So?"
"His stamina and magic are not weak, and his body is clearly much stronger than an average kid his age. But it's not enough for his Dragon Slayer magic. It's powerful, but it's also a huge drain. From the looks of it, he can only use a few spells before he's out of magic and stamina. I think Natsu and Wendy should join our usual training group. It's rare to have people who can use such a rare magic; we have to make sure they have enough ability to protect themselves."
Makarov nodded. "Then I'll leave them to you. Are you planning to have them both stay at your place?"
"Wendy, yes. Natsu, no. Even if Natsu just comes to my house to visit, someone has to watch him. You saw how he and Gray started fighting without even saying anything today. I'm afraid he'd start a fight in my house too. You don't want the whole of Magnolia to be blown to smithereens, do you, Gramps?"
Noah's voice was grim. Makarov thought of Natsu and Gray fighting at the drop of a hat, then thought of all the various research items in Noah's house, and a cold sweat broke out on his back. "Right, right! We can't let Natsu stay with you! He has to stay far away from your house!"
"You don't have to be that nervous. It's fine as long as he lives near my house. He can just come over for training, and we'll just have to make sure he doesn't start any fights there. By the way, where is Natsu living now?"
"He's built a small house for himself in the eastern forest."
"That's very close to my house. That's no problem then. And since Gray moved out with Ur a while ago, we don't have to worry too much."
Noah turned to Laxus, who had been listening from the side. "When you're not on a request, you should come and train with us too. We have two people here who were taught Dragon Slayer magic by dragons themselves. You can learn from them."
"Do you really believe their story? That dragons were their foster parents and taught them Dragon Slayer magic?" Laxus's tone was skeptical. Although he knew he should trust his comrades, his own knowledge told him that such a thing was highly unlikely.
"Magic is a mysterious thing, Laxus. Many things you can't imagine can come true. And the stronger you become, the more you will know. Work hard and get stronger, Laxus." Noah took every opportunity he could to persuade him to improve his strength.
Laxus looked at him deeply. "You really do know a lot of things."
"Of course. It's because my strength is decent that I'm able to know so many things," Noah said happily.
Laxus's expression tightened, and he glared at him.
"Noah, remember not to forget your true self," Makarov said in a more serious tone.
Noah's expression changed, and he replied gravely, "I know, Gramps. I will remember."
Seeing that Noah had agreed, Makarov's smile returned. "As long as you remember. Well then, I'll be heading back."
"Then I'll take Natsu and Wendy to buy some daily necessities, and then take them to training."
"I'm going to go train now," Laxus said. After saying his goodbyes, he left for the training ground. Makarov also went back inside the guild.
Seeing that Natsu was still unconscious, Noah took out a vial of potion and poured it into his mouth. Soon, Natsu woke up. He jumped to his feet and felt full of energy. "Am I recovered?"
"Of course. I gave you a potion to help you recover. Now that you're awake, come with me." Seeing him up, Noah turned and walked towards Wendy and the others.
Natsu quickly followed. "Where are we going?"
