Chapter 120 - Chapter 122: Illusion and the Dragon Slug

After confirming it was working, Amir carefully observed the surrounding scene and walked forward. The image finally began to change, distorting and pushing Amir toward the depths of the ruins. Amir walked very slowly, but as time passed, he still reached the end of the main hall. There was an open door here, pitch black inside. But at the entrance of this room, Amir stopped.

. . .

BD-4 watched Milisen, who had fallen into a daze, and tilted its head in confusion. It had never seen this situation before and didn't know how to solve it. Milisen's small face gradually wrinkled, all the joy she had maintained recently vanished, leaving only pain. She struggled, shaking her head lightly, as if having a terrible nightmare. BD-4 started to panic. It could see its little friend was in trouble, but it didn't know what to do. It could only jump around Milisen nonstop.

It turned around and looked toward the lit area in the distance. There were three people there. Just now, Milisen had brought it to a dark corner, saying she had found something, so they were a bit far from the main group. But they must have a way. First, go ask Amir!

BD-4 ran toward the lit area. The closer it got, the more it realized these three people were in the exact same state as Milisen. It's over, it's over, BD-4 thought. What else can I do... Jump on Amir's head and wake him up? Or just release a bit of electricity to wake up these people sleeping in broad daylight?

Suddenly, it saw Amir turn around and start walking. Is he awake??? "Bleep-bloop-bzzzt!!" BD-4 rushed in front of Amir, calling to him, but got no response. BD-4 deftly hopped onto Amir's shoulder and nudged his face. Still no reaction. BD-4 was a little dejected.

Maybe I should shock him a little? Just a tiny bit of current, shouldn't be a big problem. After a moment, Amir stopped walking, halting in front of a door. BD-4 was still hesitating. It jumped off Amir's shoulder, walked to his foot, and extended a discharge electrode. To shock or not to shock, that is the question. Just as it was about to give up, it suddenly looked up. A blurry dark shadow was projected in its camera, hanging just inside the doorway, like a demon, or a cunning hunter waiting for its prey to take the bait. Clearly, Amir was the prey.

"Ahhh!!" Suddenly, Milisen's voice came from the distance. Her small face looked increasingly angry, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. Following Milisen's roar, a strong, invisible shockwave pulsed outward. BD-4 lost its balance for a moment and wobbled. It was this instability that caused its extended electrode to jab into Amir's calf.

. . .

Amir, stopped in front of the door, felt his shoulders were heavy. I'm not being possessed by a ghost, am I? This is a ruin at a Force nexus; anything can happen. Fortunately, after waiting a moment, the feeling disappeared.

The reason Amir stopped was that he sensed a dangerous aura from the door. And this scene gave him a strong sense of déjà vu! This moment had appeared in his subconscious before. His intuition told him he couldn't go any further.

He tried his best to sense the surrounding Force, attempting to find a pattern in the chaos, to grasp the trajectory. But this only made him more certain that everything was untraceable. In an instant, an image flashed in Amir's eyes: a creature shrouded in shadow pounced fiercely on his fallen body, dragging him behind the door. Amir's adrenaline surged. Precognition! A clear precognition! Just like the moment before the explosion on Coruscant!

Danger! At the critical moment, Amir instinctively used the Force Shield he was learning. In a very short time, the Force began to operate in a special way around his body, protecting him from harm.

But in the next moment, a sudden pain and numbness shot into Amir's brain. At the same time, a familiar dark Force push hit him, making him slightly lose his balance! Milisen! Amir shouted inwardly!

Under the double stimulation, Amir woke up! Everything in front of him was torn to shreds like a painting, and the sounds also became clear.

His calf! Although Amir had used the Force Shield in the previous moment, it was mostly concentrated on his upper body, and in the front. It offered no resistance to BD-4's sneak attack on his calf. But Amir's reaction was fast. The moment he found the source, he isolated the still-discharging BD-4.

"Damn! It really was an illusion. The gas! The gas here isn't toxic, but it's highly hallucinogenic. It was guiding me toward this door. Why?"

"Bleep-bloop-bloop!!!" BD-4 suddenly shouted. Amir reacted in less than a second, his eyes widening. He looked inside the door. For a moment, it was like seeing twinkling stars in the dark night sky. But there was no beauty, only horror. Those were pairs of eyes!

Sensing Amir's gaze, the bright spots in front of him began to shift restlessly. A violent emotion washed over him, as if questioning! Why is our prey not obeying? Why hasn't it shown up!

Finally, they seemed unwilling to wait any longer. A large figure, hanging from the high ceiling wall, twisted its body and slowly revealed itself from the doorway. "A Dragon Slug!" Amir had seen this creature before. When Charles first rushed out of the great fissure, he was entangled by two Dragon Slugs. But the one in front of him had clearly mutated. It lacked the huge body and thin wings, appearing much smaller. But its tail continuously released a white mist, which merged into the air, emitting a strange smell.

Amir quietly retreated, took a small filter from his backpack, and put it in his mouth to breathe through. Just from that brief moment, he felt himself about to fall into the illusion again.

"Go shock Ahsoka, BD-4!" Amir shouted at the droid that had just sneak-attacked him. Although it hurt, the shock was effective. But... "Lower the voltage!!" Amir instructed.

BD-4 beeped randomly twice and ran toward Ahsoka. Amir remained in a standoff with the Dragon Slug in the front. As if it didn't understand why Amir wasn't falling into a daze and dumbly walking into its mouth, the Dragon Slug twisted its body in confusion. The mist from its tail grew thicker.

Amir didn't dare act rashly. In that one glance, he had seen hundreds of densely packed eyes staring at him from inside the door. If he angered them, a "slug tide" would not be easily stopped. Even if he could escape safely, there were still unconscious people behind him. And Milisen... she had triggered the dark Force again! Amir's expression grew grim.
