Chapter 123 - Chapter 125: Another Crystal

Is this what they call a 'chuunibyou'? Please don't tell me Milisen will one day cover one eye with a black cloth and declare she's sealed the 'Evil Eye,' and once it's opened, it's 'abracadabra'...?

It seems Milisen really likes lightsabers.

It's a pity 32 doesn't share this hobby. Otherwise, General Grievous would have a successor.

After winding through a few more rooms, Amir suddenly shouted in pleasant surprise, "There are crystals!"

The group looked in the direction Amir was pointing. It was a larger room, dozens of meters high, looking very spacious. A few lampstands flickered faintly. In the very center of the room was an even larger pattern. To their delight, in the grooves of the pattern's nodes, some actually held Massassi crystals, though there were very few.

"Quick, count how many. See if it's enough." Amir walked forward, illuminating the ground with the lampstand, and observed.

"Only three!" Ahsoka said. "This pattern looks the same as the one on Adrian. Nine nodes in total."

"A pity. With the five we got before, we're just one short," Amir said, a little disappointed. "The side halls are probably empty, just like the ones we saw on the way."

Just as Amir thought this trip might be for nothing, his gaze suddenly shifted to the back of the room.

"Wait..." Amir slowly moved his hand to his lightsaber and gradually retreated.

Ahsoka, at almost the same time, realized something and gripped her two lightsabers.

"What's wrong!?" Milisen was picking up a Massassi crystal to look at it.

"Stand next to me, Milisen!" Amir retreated toward Milisen. Milisen also put down the crystal and walked toward Amir.

32 drew his blaster pistol.

"We're surrounded," Amir said after observing the surroundings.

"This isn't the Dragon Slug's nest, is it?" Ahsoka swallowed, looking at the Dragon Slugs pouring out from all around.

"Be confident. It is," Amir said, handing his blaster pistol to Milisen.

"Protect yourself."

"Oh! I will!" Milisen said happily, looking at the blaster. "Is it for me?"

"I'm lending it to you."

"Hmph~"

A chorus of hissing filled the air. Amir's and Ahsoka's lightsabers ignited at the same time. The steady glow of the blades calmed Amir's heart.

"Okay, stay calm. Let's try to force them back. This room has a lot of lamp posts," Amir said.

"How do I use this... um..." Milisen studied the blaster pistol.

Pew! Pew!!!

"Sorry!"

"Milisen!!"

The tense atmosphere was instantly detonated the moment Milisen fired. The bolts shot straight into the swarm of Dragon Slugs at the edge of the room. Two shrieks were heard; Milisen had actually hit them.

In an instant, dense black shadows poured from every corner of the room—the doors, the ceiling, the broken gaps.

These Dragon Slugs seemed to have forgotten their fear of light. They swarmed forward, closing in. The nearby lampstands were crushed by their bulky bodies. The light in the room was gradually disappearing!

"Good thing I came prepared." Amir, seeing the pitch black, took out a ball, pressed it, and threw it into the air.

As the ball rose to a certain height, it began to release a bright light.

"Ahhhh!!!!" The surrounding Dragon Slugs shrieked in pain. Living year-round in the dark underground, their eyes had almost degenerated. They were extremely sensitive to light. The slightly-too-bright white light directly blinded their buggy eyes.

"What do we do? Grab the crystals and run? Or just run?" Ahsoka asked.

"I think I see a big one." Amir looked toward the back of a doorway. Under the stimulation of the light, a huge shadow gradually revealed its true form.

"Is it possible... it's the leader, and if I kill it, the others will flee?" Amir asked.

"Or go even crazier," Ahsoka added helpfully.

The Dragon Slugs were already upon them, blocking every escape route. Their foul breath was even hitting Amir's face.

"Protect Milisen," Amir said to the other two. He swung his lightsaber. Waiting any longer would only make them more passive. Amir charged forward. He decided to try and kill the big one. These Dragon Slugs weren't fearless; they must be agitated or under orders...

Ahsoka immediately took Amir's place, blocking in front of Milisen.

"Ah! Damn it!" Milisen grimaced, her two small fangs making her look adorably fierce. She aimed at the nearest Dragon Slug and randomly pulled the trigger.

Ahsoka swung her two lightsabers rapidly, killing all the approaching slugs and deterring the others. It was still manageable. But 32 wasn't so lucky. He could only rely on his superior physical performance, using his blaster and fists to tangle with the disgusting creatures.

Amir advanced with great efficiency. With a light wave of his hand, the approaching Dragon Slugs were pushed away by his Force push. The stragglers were killed at random. In the room, only a green blade could be seen flashing, dragging a long shadow as it rushed toward a door.

He was close!

But at this moment, a large number of Dragon Slugs suddenly poured out from the room. They seemed to have lost their minds, charging straight at Amir, their sticky maws opening to bite.

Amir hadn't expected an ambush. In this chaotic Force environment, although he could still use skills like Force push, his perception was completely limited. He no longer had his previous precognitive advantage.

He instantly assumed the opening stance of Form III and swung rapidly. An approaching slug was cut in two from head to tail.

Amir, splattered with slime, his face twisted in disgust, but his hands moved even faster. At this moment, he seemed to have become a meat grinder, and the doorway in front of him was the inlet.

But it couldn't last. A huge mass of flesh squeezed through. Caught off guard, Amir was knocked backward, but he managed to stabilize his body and didn't fall.

Looking up, Amir realized the big one he had been looking for had come out on its own.

"Wow, big bug!!" Milisen's excited voice came from behind, making Amir's eyebrow twitch.

This bug was too big. His lightsaber had hit it, but it had only left a shallow cut.

Next time, I have to go straight for the head... Amir stared at the Dragon Slug's head, thinking about how to attack, but his attention was drawn to its waving tail.

White mist was constantly spraying out, like a strangely shaped humidifier. And embedded in its tail was a bright crystal.

A Massassi crystal! There was another one!

But Amir suddenly thought of something and turned to look at 32.

The big bald head was swaying, as if drunk, fighting the space slugs in close combat. To say it was fighting... it looked more like listless dancing.

Milisen and Ahsoka had filters to avoid the hallucinogenic mist, but 32 had only woken up due to the auto-shock. Although he seemed fine afterward, it was because the Dragon Slugs had fled, and the effect had weakened. But now, the entire room was filled with the white mist!
