Chapter 178 - Chapter 180: Weapon Test

"I'll contact her first and try to schedule a time for us to visit. Other than that, there's no work for you for the time being. I'm going to expand the factory, connect a few rooms, buy more droids, and start mass-producing the Smart Tactical Backpacks."

Amir nodded. Until the research data arrived, there really wasn't much he could do.

However, there was one thing he had been holding onto, and now he finally had the time to study it.

He retrieved the Kyber crystal and the energy aggregate sphere from The Traveler and began his experiments in the underground lab.

With high-end equipment at his disposal, Amir let his imagination run wild.

Well, wild, but not too wild. After all, he was on someone else's turf; blowing a hole in the floor wouldn't be polite.

Amir had already conceived of how to proceed while familiarizing himself with the equipment. Now, he set to work with confidence. After a whole day of busy work and exceptionally precise debugging, Amir adjusted the power of the device in front of him to the lowest setting and gently flipped the switch.

After a brief charge, green spots of light emerged from the complex device. Then, the light erupted, turning into a beam that shot forward, striking the alloy plate that had been prepared and shielded by a force field.

The energized shield lasted less than a second before shattering. The alloy steel plate didn't even last half a second; a small hole was instantly melted through it.

Fortunately, Amir had switched it off the moment he sensed something was wrong, so it only left a small, melted crater on the far wall.

Kahraman won't notice, right . . .

Phew.

Amir revealed a satisfied smile. He had spent a tremendous amount of time researching this.

Now, it was finally complete.

He really was a genius!

Although the device was built, it would be difficult to popularize. The planets capable of mining large Kyber crystals were firmly occupied by the Empire. Only remote places with poor resources lacked Imperial mining teams, but even those places had scattered probe droids patrolling, scanning for any potential Jedi.

He would have to discuss how to handle this with Ahsoka later.

If worse came to worst, they would just have to rob the Empire.

After running the experiment a few more times and ruling out accidental factors, Amir couldn't wait to transport this setup back to The Traveler. As for the fact that it included Kahraman's equipment—don't ask. They were good brothers; what's yours is mine.

. . .

After tinkering on the ship for a long time, Amir wiped the sweat from his forehead. He had finished replacing his ship's main cannon.

At this moment, Amir felt an inexplicable surge of confidence.

With his superb piloting skills, The Traveler's performance, and now this invincible light cannon, he wouldn't even flinch if he ran into a Star Destroyer!

Okay, he would still have to run if he saw one. But he was definitely no longer afraid of Gideon's light cruiser. An experimental ship guarded mostly by droids, with only a squadron of TIE fighters, was no longer enough to threaten him.

The Traveler could now pierce its deflector shields.

After cleaning up, Amir took a shower, lay down on the sofa in The Traveler, and dialed the holographic comms of the Razor Crest.

The connection was established quickly.

"Speak," Din Djarin said, his eyes fixed on his own controls as he piloted his ship.

"Friends should exchange a few pleasantries when they meet." Amir took a sip of his homemade carbonated drink.

Din Djarin didn't speak. The air remained awkward.

Amir sighed helplessly. "Do you know of Bo-Katan Kryze?"

"No."

"Or do you know where the Mandalorian resistance is?"

"No."

"I'll give you a block of Beskar."

". . . I can ask around for you. What is your objective?"

Amir thought for a moment.

Din Djarin's covert followed ancient traditions and had left their homeworld, but they were a powerful force. Precisely because they adhered to those traditions, the combat power of this tribe should be formidable. Amir wondered if he could directly recruit them to deal with Maul.

But Amir abandoned the idea.

The operation would certainly be dangerous. Although he had an employer-employee relationship with Din Djarin, and the Mandalorian had helped him a lot and acted honorably, this matter had nothing to do with him. The Darksaber and the rule of Mandalore held little appeal to Din; a few ingots of Beskar were far more practical.

It wouldn't be right to rashly use the tribe that raised him to fight Crimson Dawn. If they suffered heavy losses, Amir couldn't justify it.

Moreover, the chances of his tribe interfering were slim. At most, one or two individuals might be impulsive enough to join.

"I have business with them. I want to trick some Mandalorians into joining the Resistance—the faction we worked with last time. If your tribe is interested, we can . . ."

"We have no interest," Din Djarin interrupted Amir directly. "I will ask for you, but I cannot guarantee the result."

"Fine, just asking is enough. Come find me on Tatooine when you arrive to get your payment."

"Deal."

hanging up the comms, Amir fell into thought again.

Everything was planned, but he couldn't find Bo-Katan Kryze. The galaxy was so big; finding one person was incredibly difficult. Amir really had no leads, which was why he tried his luck with Din Djarin's covert.

He had also sent a message to Ahsoka asking about it, but she hadn't replied yet.

Finishing his drink, Amir couldn't suppress his urge any longer. He started The Traveler and flew out of the space station. He wanted to test the power of the new weapon.

Flying the ship through empty space for a long time, Amir finally spotted a desiccated planetoid. Its surface was withered and yellow, composed entirely of sand and rock, without even an atmosphere.

Amir approached the surface and found a mountain peak.

Since installing the new weapon, Amir had checked it many times. There should be no malfunctions.

Aiming the main cannon at the front of The Traveler toward the mountain, Amir pressed the firing button.

A beam of green light burst from the front of the ship. It was fully half a meter in diameter, continuously spewing energy forward.

The moment the pillar of light touched the mountain, it didn't scatter or pass through. Instead, it poured all its energy into the point of contact.

Ripples of exaggerated distortion oscillated outward from the center of impact, followed by a violent explosion.

The mountain, hundreds of meters high, began to shatter from the waist up. Huge boulders and dust were blasted outward. The peak was sheared off out of thin air, the top half tilting and crashing down below!
