The legend of the past, from the time that the glowing rock was discovered by the researchers of old, held a saying.
The saying was likened to a prophecy that said the Earth would experience a world ending event and only the mastery of New Eden would save them.
While these sounded funny, the select few of persons who had access to these historical records did not play with it.
They needed to find those who would master the world of New Eden and become the light that will dawn the dark times ahead of them.
That was the reason behind the birth of the game, New Eden.
Every other thing was basically an incentive to encourage as many people as possible to join.
*Creak*
Axton's door creaked open and he went straight to his bed.
He was finally home and needed to rest to clear his head as he felt foggy.
Dropping his whole weight on the bed, Axton let out a soft moan of satisfaction.
After a few seconds, he sat up a bit and turned on the television inside the room.
He wanted some background noise, but as soon as the television came on, it was the same thing on every station.
The launch of New Eden.
Some channels even set up a timer that counted down to 9 o'clock.
"Seriously?" Axton muttered with disdain. "Whichever company made this game must be a multi billion one to have this level of marketing."
Axton was not wrong.
Indeed, a lot of money had been pumped into marketing New Eden just so more and more people could participate in it as players.
Axton watched the countdown blankly, his mind drifting more to how to find a solution to his current unemployment problem.
A game that promises to be 100% realistic and give its players a chance at amassing wealth was not what he wanted to focus his energy on at the moment.

*Click*
Some more seconds to 9 am and people spread across the planet, who managed to get their hands on the first edition of New Eden headgear, put it over their heads almost at the same time and turned it on with a click.
If one could hear the entire world at the same time, they would hear the beautiful orchestra of click resounding.
"If I can make some money, I might redeem my company from bankruptcy."
"God please! I just want an S rank talent."
"Let's see what New Eden is cooking."
"If I can earn enough to support myself, I might just quit this stupid job!"
Everyone who was preparing to enter the world of New Eden had different issues they wanted to solve by playing the game.
However, there was one goal that united them all, and that was the fact that they all wanted good talent.
A low ranked talent was like a curse, almost as if you are starting a marathon with normal, healthy people while you are handicapped.
The game looked like it would be unfavourable to anyone without a good talent.

Everybody was eagerly staring at the large white number that displayed over a dark background provided by the helmets.

A burst of light followed after the zero count, forcing the potential players to shut their eyes.
Surprisingly, the light was not harsh.
All they saw, after a couple of seconds when they finally opened their eyes and adjusted to the light, was a row of bluish white luminescent texts.
[Welcome to New Eden]
******
'It's not painful,' Axton thought as he slowly removed his hand from his eyes.
The light that had suddenly flashed from out of nowhere was not harmful to him. If anything, he only noticed it before it was there.
He focused on the source of the light, realising that it was coming from the bracelet his father gifted him before his death.
Axton was dumbfounded and confused.
He was still trying to process what was happening to him when a mechanical sound rang in his head.
*Ding*
[Welcome to New Eden]
"Huh? New Eden?"
[You possess a relic of New Eden and can enter the world]
[Do you wish to enter?]
Axton could not really understand what was happening.
He had a lot of questions on his mind but there was no one to ask.
He didn't have the money to buy a New Eden headgear, so why were these floating panels here in front of him?
How is he able to gain access to the supposed game world?
What even is a relic of New Eden?
Axton knew that only 50,000 people could access the world of New Eden on its first day because of the limited first edition of headgears that were released.
It was clear since it had been announced, and thereafter others would follow.
How then was this bracelet, that he thought of selling off so many times, able to get him into New Eden?
Does it mean he wouldn't have to save up over eight thousand dollars to buy a gear?
Axton didn't want to think too much about it.
Now that he had a chance to enter this promising game without losing anything, he would try it first.
His eyes shifted to the current screen that plastered to his face.
[Do you wish to enter?]
Taking a deep breath and hoping that everything turns out fine, Axton answered.
"Yes."
*Swoosh*
Axton suddenly felt lightheaded and dizzy as he fell back onto his bed.
His consciousness seemed to have been carried to another realm of existence that he did not even know existed.
Everything was dark at first and then without a moment, Axton found himself in a place that looked like a large temple.
A large row of bright text appeared, almost the size of a banner.
[WELCOME TO NEW EDEN, PLAYER]
*Ding*
[You entered the world of New Eden with a relic]
[You have been blessed with a divine bonus]
*Ding*
[You have received the 100x Multiplier Effect]
Axton blinked several times in a single second.
His jaw almost dropped to the ground in shock.
'A bug?' his mind quickly thought, trying to come up with a reasonable excuse for such a cheat.
"A multiplier effect? Hundred times? That's insane!"
