Hopper was currently driving to where Cornwallis and Kerley meet. Hopper was riding in the car with his fellow officers following him in another car. When they reached their destination, they parked their cars on the side of the road. They got out of their cars at the same time and started to walk down the road.
Callahan yelled, "Will Byers!"
Powell yelled seconds later, "Will!"
Callahan yelled once more, "Will Byers!" Hopper was walking about 30 feet in front of them. Hopper took a pill and closed his eyes; he had a small frown etched on his face.
Callahan shouted, "Will! Come on, kid!"
Powell shouted, "Will!" Suddenly, Hopper noticed something, and his face scrunched up some. His face taking on a dead serious demeanor.
Hopper said, "Hey! I got something." Hopper walked down into the ditch quickly, arriving in front of Will's bike. Powell and Callahan came jogged over to Hopper and came down into the ditch as well. They all looked at the bike.
Callahan asked, "Is that his bike?"
Hopper said, "Yeah, he must have crashed."
Callahan Questioned, "You think he got hurt in the fall?"
Hopper answered, "Not so hurt he couldn't walk away from it. Bike like this is like a Cadillac to these kids. He would have walked it home." Hopper reached and picked up the bike with one hand before he began to look around. Powell and Callahan copied Hopper and began to observe their surroundings. Then they walked up the ditch and back to their cars. Hopper put the bike on the back of the SUV before he got in and began to drive to Joyce's house.
At Hawkins Lab, a group of people were hacking into the telephone calls of other people and listening. They were trying to find any mention of Eleven within the calls. One of the workers overheard Joyce talking to Lonny's girlfriend, Cynthia on the phone.
Joyce wanted to talk with Lonny, but Cynthia said he wasn't there before she hung up on Joyce. Joyce shouted, "Bitch!"
Jonathan said, "Mom."
Joyce said harshly, "What?"
Jonathan said, "You have to stay calm." Joyce just laughed deprecatingly before she picked up the phone once again. Joyce called Lonny again, but it went straight to voicemail. Joyce talked for a while, but the call was disconnected.
Joyce yelled, "Damnit, damnit!"
Jonathan stood up from the couch when he heard some cars stop in front of their house. Jonathan said, "Mom."
Joyce asked, "What?"
Jonathan said, "Cops." Joyce ran out the front door when she heard this with hope on her face. That hope was destroyed as soon as it was manifested, however. As she saw Hopper pulling Will's bike out of the back of his SUV. Hopper walked up to them and set the bike down before he walked inside with Joyce and the others. Hopper told Joyce about how they found Will's bike in a ditch.
Joyce said, "It was just lying there?"
Hopper said, "Yeah. Cal?" Hopper pointed for Cal to look around. Hopper than walked forward through the house looking for any possible clues.
Joyce followed him and asked, "Did it have any blood on it, or--"
Hopper interrupted, "No, no, no, no, no... Phil?"
Jonathan asked, "If you found the bike out there, what are you doing here?"
Hopper said, "Well, he had a key to the house, right?"
Jonathan said, "Yeah."
Hopper said, "Well, maybe he came home."
Joyce asked, "You think I didn't search my own house?"
Hopper said, "I'm not saying that."
Hopper saw a small hole in the wall. He asked, "Has this always been here?"
Joyce said, "What? I don't know. Probably. I mean, I have two boys. Look at this place." Hopper opened the back door and saw that the hole in the wall on the wall matched up with the doorknob.
Hopper asked, "You're not sure?" Joyce sighed. Suddenly, the dog started to bark out back. Hopper walked out back to investigate the noise and saw the dog barking as it looked at the shed. Hopper crouched down and patted the dog's head.
hopper looked over at Joyce and said, "What's up with this guy?"
Joyce said, "I don't know, he's probably hungry or something." Joyce then brought the dog inside, leaving Hopper by himself out back. Hopper walked over to the shed and went inside. He turned on the light and started to look around for any clues. Hopper found the box of ammo sitting on the counter and also noticed that the spot on the wall with gunrack had nothing on it.
The light suddenly turned off, Hopper looked around for a couple seconds before he picked up a lantern and turned it on. Hopper heard some squelching in the corner of the room and turned to investigate. But when he crouched down and observed the area the squelching stopped, and he couldn't find anything out of the ordinary.
Hopper looked around for a little while before suddenly the light turned back on. Callahan came into the shed and said, "Hey!" This scared the shit out of Hopper.

Callahan said, "What are you, deaf? I've been calling you... What's going on?" Hopper ignored him and walked past him out of the shed.
Callahan said, "Hello?... Are you sure you're okay, Chief?" Callahan followed Hopper as he walked through the back yard.
Hopper said, "Listen, I want you to call Flo. I want to get a search party together, alright? All the volunteers she can muster. Bring flashlights, too."
Callahan asked, "You think we got a problem here?" Hopper didn't respond as he walked away. Both cops sighed before they followed Hopper's instructions.
John had just finished his last class of the day. John stood up from his seat with April quickly attaching herself to him. They walked out of the room slowly and made their way into the hallway. They navigated their way through the sea of people loitering around the hallway in their different friend groups.
John and April arrived at April's locker a couple minutes later and greeted Nancy and Barb who were also there. April then began to comb through her locker and grab all the assignments they had been given. Barb looked over at John who was leaning against the locker in between Nancy and April.
Barb asked, "John, "How do you survive without a locker?"
John showed her a red folder and said, "I just shove all of my assignments in this folder. I leave all my books and shit at home." April smacked John's arm gently.

Barb said, "April, sure has a hold on you."
John said playfully, "Only when I let her." April pouted, Barb and Nancy laughed even harder. Steve was over at his locker about 10 feet away. He saw Nancy laughing as John was moving his lips, he felt jealous. He had been cautious of John since he arrived, he always thought there was something between John and Nancy, maybe even Barb as well.
Steve couldn't take it anymore, so he walked over to Nancy briskly and said, "Nancy you ready to go?"
Nancy said, "Yeah." Steve looked at John's expression, but he saw that John's face stayed the same. John was showing a small smile on his face as he looked at April. Steve was a little frustrated that John wasn't paying any attention to Nancy. Steve then walked off with Nancy to take her home.
John and April soon left the school walking with Barb partway to the car before they split up as Barb was parked in another area. John and April were getting into John's car, when John saw Mike and the gang coming out of their school with gloomy faces. John said, "Wait here a sec, Bunny." Lucas said, "The cops came to our school. They said that Will was missing."
Dustin said, "He never made it home last night."
John said, "Oh, that is unfortunate. Are they looking for him?"
Mike said, "We don't know. They wouldn't tell us anything because we are kids."
John said, "That's for the best. Don't want anything happening to anyone else, right?"
The kids nodded somberly. John looked at their down expressions and said, "Why don't I give you guys a ride home, maybe go on some burns?"
The boys cheered up a little and said, "Okay."
John said, "Come on." The boys then followed John to his car, John had them get into the backseat while he put their bikes in his trunk. John used a bungie cord to secure his trunk before he got into his car.
April was talking with Mika and the gang, and she heard that Will was missing. She said, "Oh, no. I'm sure he is fine, though. Right, John?"
John said confidently, "Yeah, I'm sure." John then backed out of his parking spot and sped out of the parking lot. April screamed as she grabbed onto John's arm, while the boys in the back were cheering and hooting. John drove them around for an hour before he dropped them each at their houses.
John was now in the car with only Mike and April. Mike asked suddenly, "Did you mean what you said, John?"
John said, "Yeah." Mike then got quiet for the rest of the ride. John drove for a couple more minutes before he parked in front of his house. John and April walked Mike over to his house. Karen saw them through the window earlier, so she was waiting for them at the door.
Karen asked, "Where have you been, Mike?"
Mike was about to respond but John interrupted. John said, "Sorry, Karen. I brought him and his friends for a ride to try to cheer them up."
Karen said, "Well, no harm done. Come on, Mike." John patted Mikes head before Mike walked into the house.
Karen said, "Thank you, John."
John said, "It's no problem at all, Karen."
John was about to walk away with John when Karen said, "Did you hear about the search party, John?"
John said, "No, I didn't."
Karen said, "Well, some people are going to search the woods for Will."
John said, "Oh, when does that start."
Karen said, "The search starts at 6:00 pm at the corner Keeley and Cornwallis."
John said, "I'll join them then." April squeezed John's arm. John then walked away with April to his house. April said, "Why do you have to go?"
John said, "Will is missing. I've known him for a while. He's a buddy of mine."
April said, "Come on, stay with me. Please."
John sighed and said, "I have to go. If it was you, I would already be out there searching high and low."
April said, "Really?"

Lisa said, "Yeah, I'll see you in a little while."
John said, "Okay, bye."
Lisa said, "Bye." John then hung up the phone and looked over at April who was pouting cutely.
John walked over to her with a smile. John asked, "What's wrong, my little bunny?"
April said, "I don't want to leave yet." John sat down next to her and embraced her.
John said, "Your aunt is worried about you. I wish my parents shared the same sentiment."
