Silence settled in the room. Jiang Qi slowly stood up from the chair and walked to the bed, where Shen Yi sat. Without saying much, he lowered himself onto the side of the bed, close to him, and finally spoke.
"I'm sorry."
Shen Yi turned his head to look at him, but unexpectedly, there was no emotion in his eyes, only blankness.
His voice came calm and detached when he replied, "It's not your fault, so don't apologise." His gaze then shifted away from Jiang Qi, moving toward the window as he continued. "Two and a half months ago, when I left, I met him. After we left together, he took me to the headquarters of his laboratories."
