Chapter 46 - Surprise Attack

I was genuinely shocked at this new information from Sundi. I never would have guessed that my own personal energy could by limiting the potential of my blessing. I became curious if that could be the reason why I wasn't able to learn who my patron god is. If I was really suppressing the divine energy within me, maybe I was unintentionally preventing my patron god from linking with me… I definitely needed to master this Jia that Sundi was talking about. If I could eventually utilize this technique, I am certain that I could learn more about the true use of Traveling Hands. "Sundi, can I show you something?" I asked as I got into a fighting stance. Sundi seemed a little surprised by my action. "Are you wanting to fight again already?" She questioned. "No, just watch that tree over there for a second. I want to know what you think about this use of my blessing." I said as I pointed to a large tree that was standing alone further into the forest. Sundi seemed very curious about what my intentions could be. She nodded her head and watched intently at the tree I had specified. I then formed my hand into a flat pointed shape, and aimed for the center of the tree. I used a waypoint and struck the tree directly in its core causing it to seemingly explode from within. This sent the tree falling to the ground, as I completely destroyed the trunk. Sundi quickly turned around and looked at me with somewhat fearful eyes. "Y-you can use it to strike inside of things!?" She exclaimed with shock. "If you can do that… then you could have killed me the first time we met, couldn't you?" She said with a realization washing over her face. "Yes… I could have. This is something I learned a while ago when training within the enchanted forest. The truth is, I am somewhat hesitant to use something like this. I feel that it is almost guaranteed to kill someone, but I have never used it on a person. I want to make it clear that I wasn't showing you this to say that I could have killed you whenever I wanted. I am not a murderer, and I deeply dislike the idea of using this method of my blessing simply to kill people. However, I understand that there will come a time when I may have to use this whether I like it or not. What I want to know is if you think Jia can prevent me from using this kind technique with my blessing. When we were fighting, it felt like I couldn't even use my blessing close to you at all. It is true that I was avoiding striking you in certain places, but in truth I couldn't even open my waypoints close to your body because of the Jia you were using. From my perspective, it felt like you had some kind of barrier around you that was preventing the use of my blessing. Does that make sense?" I asked with genuine concern. "I see… That is indeed interesting. To be honest with you Sid, I didn't even know that Jia could prevent the use of an ability like that. Additionally, now that I know your blessing can actually enter inside of physical objects, that completely changes my initial thoughts about your blessing. Initially I could tell that you had a very unique blessing. Even through all of the places I have traveled, I have never met anyone who could use a blessing that allowed them to travel through space. Right now it seems to be allocated to your hands, but that could possibly only be the beginning." Sundi stated as she seemed to be in deep thought. "What exactly do you mean by only the beginning?" I asked, somewhat concerned. "It is well known that blessings have many different applications, especially depending on the type of class it falls under. As you know, Navy uses a blessing that falls under summoning and enhancement. However, he was later able to control the lighting that he summoned to an extent. The classes are more like blanket titles. Blessings have the capacity to evolve over time depending on certain factors. These factors include the holder of the blessings creativity, their innate desires that influence the blessing, and the holder's connection to their patron god. These three factors are essentially the catalyst that can cause a blessing to evolve. For example, Navy had a deep rooted desire to overcome you in competition. From that desire, he was able to begin manipulating the lighting he was summoning. He experienced an evolution of his blessing. Now when it comes to a blessing like yours that clearly falls under the special class, as it is not something that can be categorized under the other classes currently, it is safe to say that your blessing has a greater potential to evolve into one of the remaining classes or more depending on the three factors I previously stated. As I learned from the others, you have not linked with your patron god. You additionally have a deep desire to find your friends. You have also shown that you have an innate creativity when utilizing your blessing. Right now, your blessing potential is possibly the greatest unknown that I have come across. I initially thought that your blessing could have stemmed from the god of the air who rules over the sky and winds, but now that you have shown the capability to enter inside of objects… I truly don't know who your patron god could be." She said while rubbing her temple. It was clear that Sundi was deeply perplexed by my blessing. It was safe to say that I felt the same. I haven't been able to gain any clues about where this blessing originated, or why it was granted to me. I really needed to find out who my patron god was…

"Sundi, there is one more thing I should mention. Though, I'm not sure if this will entirely help." I said hesitantly. "Go ahead Sid." She responded quickly. "Well, when I first received this blessing at the arch of Bane, there was a voice I could hear that seemed to be speaking within my mind. It was definitely a woman's voice, but she said some strange things. I vaguely remember the voice saying something about letting my heart roar. But other than that, it has become much more difficult to recall what else was said." I explained, unsure if the information would help. Unfortunately, before Sundi could even respond we heard a loud crash near the front of the Tavern. "What the heck was that!?" I shouted. "I don't know, but we should check it out right away." Sundi said in an urgent tone. I had a bad feeling about this.

We ran around the tavern to the front entrance, only to find Navy leaning against a damaged tree with blood running down his head and arms. Navy spotted us and yelled out, "GO BACK!" We then heard another large crash, and our eyes darted over to a clearing in the forest that was about a hundred yards in front of the tavern. In the clearing, Pete was fighting off three different people at once. I ran over to Navy in a hurry, trying to make sure he was alright. "What happened Navy!? What is going on?" I said as I braced him with my shoulder. "It's that bastard Vantan we ran into at the port. He must have followed us here with his goons. This isn't good Sid. You and Sundi need to get out of here. I'm sure that he's here looking for you after what happened." Navy said as he was taking deep ragged breaths. "I'm not going anywhere! I won't abandon you guys after everything you've done for us. How did this happen to you?" I questioned, not knowing how Navy could have possibly been injured so badly. Navy was an excellent fighter. If he was really using his blessing to its fullest, it would be a challenge for anyone to take him on. "They jumped me… I was out here gathering firewood with my father, and then out of nowhere I was struck in the back. They hit me so hard I was sent flying into this tree. It's taking everything my fathers got to fend them off. They aren't your normal warriors. They are dirty, scum of the earth and do not fight fair. Please just take everyone and get out of here Sid. Just protect my mother and Darwin. Plea…" Navy finished as he fell unconscious. Seeing Navy like this… It made me extremely angry. "Sundi, please take Navy and gather the others… I will take care of this and help Pete." I said in a deathly calm tone. "Sid! You can't jump into this recklessly!" Sundi shouted at me. I looked at Navy who was dangerously injured and then back at Sundi. "I will not allow them to harm my friends any further. Take Navy into the Tavern and get the others. This won't take long." I said as my anger began to grow into a raging fire inside of me. Sundi could immediately tell how serious I was and pushed me off of Navy to take hold of him in frustration. "You had better come back alive, or I'll kill you myself!" She said as she began walking towards the Tavern with Navy on her back. This is the first time I have ever felt this way… I wanted to kill those men.
