Chapter 4 - A Great Teacher

A disciple?

Why?

I'm talented?

isn't this..

a totally typical isekai?

I thought for a bit and excitedly accepted his offer.

- I'd love to!

He looked at me and then stared at my body. After a few moments i could hear him let out a long sigh before standing up and walking outside.

That's it?

I expected him to say more after suddenly making me his disciple but i guess it was my only choice since i would be probably branded a heretic and decapitated on the spot. Just thoughts about what would happen to me made me shiver.

He then proceeded to make a hand gesture indicating for me to follow him which i obediently did and the sight outside wasn't really for me.

There were countless human bones lying around the hut like a trophy from the hunt. Just looking at him made my stomach twist and almost puke again.

Noticing this, Edward started to explain about the place, the bones were just a magic illusion to scare off beasts that might get lost around the forest. He mentioned that entire area that i saw is actually in academys possesion, and jokingly mentioned that i might be considered a criminal for illegaly entering here, sadly i took it to heart and prepared for the worst outcome.

- How much do you know about this place?

He asked me while looking warily from the corner of his eyes in my direction.

- I think i know just enough to not be an outsider.

The Chancellor nodded in approvement, and proceeded his explanation.

- Currently the Academy still has about 4 months until new first years start so you can prepare atleast a little for it, you won't be going out alone, i will be accompanying you which will probably happen once or twice.

- I see.

- Here i have enough books for you to learn about blood magic and as for physical training...

We stopped and i noticed that the area we just came into were plains with nothing but a single well in the middle of it.

Why is there nothing else?

I looked at Edward with questioning gaze but he simply shrugged and pointed to the well that stood before us.

- Look inside of it and you will know what to do.

He then patted me on the back and proceeded to leave while giving me last words of advice.

- If you think it's too much then just don't do it but it's your choice so good luck, im going to bring you some food, books and maybe a cloth to sleep on.

Just a cloth to sleep? what, is he a hobo.

After grumbling for a bit i focused my attention on the well and started walking to it.

I wonder what it does, i haven't seen something like this in the novel so im excited

Before looking into it i remembered his last words that made me frown a little.

I wonder why did he wish me good luck, maybe it's some illusion again

My mind was ready for whatever it was that he prepared and i was sure i'd pass it no matter what.

Slowly leaning my body inside the only thing i saw was darkness and expanding walls of the well that probably was dozen meters deep, maybe even more.

While looking in the darkness warily i felt something, it wasn't much but it felt weird like something pulling me inside and asking to see it.

I got startled but still looked in it, a minute passed, then a dozen, and i stood there simply watching everything.

It didn't last long before i felt something from behind pushing me in, it was so sudden that i couldn't even react and was pushed in.

I started falling.

***

In the hut.

Edward has finally moved from his bed after all those years and started preparing books and food supplies for the boy that all of a sudden became his disciple. It was a miracle.

The Chancellor was always a serious person but after sitting in seclusion he opened up to people and became more easy going, the stern powerhouse that could topple kingdoms was now reduced to a mere old man with big heart that would do anything for his students.

It was neccesary

He had to take him as a disciple or else he would become a dangerous person in the future who might even pose a threat to him, one of the strongest people in the world!

While Julius didn't have any knowledge on magic he had a talent to learn it and use as efficiently as possible, the fact that he had a talent for a knight excited him even more since not many people had it in them to be a so called magic-knight, there was just about ten thousand people including him. Yet most were simply adept in low level elemental spells.

He might be even more talented than i am

It was true that the only element he had talent in was blood but that was exactly why he could become stronger, the blood element was perfect for knights since it could heal with unmatched precision. Even Edward couldn't match the wandering healers that used blood magic with his water magic and talent in it.

I have high hopes for him

He then finished preparing all of the supplies like food for a few months and books on controlling mana and about blood magic's spell and their control.

The door of the hut opened and what came out was just him with no supplies in sight that were stored in the hand made pouch that could containt about three hundred kilograms of supplies and proceeded to the plains.

Unlike when walking with the boy, he got there in less than a minute thanks to his wind magic.

Maybe he started it alre- Or not, i guess he's still hesitating

He let out a sigh before calmly walking up to Julius who seemed to have lost himself in watching the well.

That brat probably misunderstood it, Tsk

Chancellor shook his head in dissapointment and proceeded to watch him for a minute. It got so boring that he even almost yawned but stopped himself from it.

I guess he needs a little.. push!

Edward slightly pressed his hand against his back and slightly pushed forward resulting in Julius trying to figure out what was happening before noticing his grinning face and looking like he was sent to death.

The last thing he did was throw the pouch along with Julius and then go back to the hut.

I wonder how long he will last there, or maybe he won't even figure out how to get out in the first place.

The Chancelor shook his head in dissapointment and left to rest in his hut in silence.

Plains were especially chilly today with no one in sight except the falling leaves and slight wind blowing from the west.

The Lesson begun.
