Chapter 47 - 47

A few more days of peaceful life passed, but unlike before, Ron rarely went to Oscorp Industries anymore.

Instead, he spent his days visiting Empire State University and other famous universities and laboratories, searching for books and materials related to life sciences.

Ron was studying life.

The last time Rogue gave Ron the inspiration to merge his body with the singularity, he had already wanted to study this magnificent thing called life.

Firstly, it was to merge Ron's own body with the singularity, and secondly, it was to enable himself to materialize this great thing called life.

Here, 'life' of course didn't refer to flawed, lower forms of life, but rather intelligent life forms akin to humans, which are almost perfect.

For the universe, life is a miracle.

Ron remembered reading a report that stated, after research, the emergence of intelligent life in the universe was almost a miracle, occurring after countless coincidences and countless accidents, finally leading to the appearance of intelligent life like humans.

Life is magnificent, and Ron now understood this point.

Because, even though Ron's current strength was already very powerful, capable of materializing a Vibranium shield, a Mark 47 or Mark 50, and even if given a few years, he could materialize an Infinity Gauntlet forged by the Dwarves, without the Infinity Stones!

But even so, the current Ron still couldn't materialize life itself, not even the lowest, flawed forms of life.

This made Ron somewhat frustrated, as if he simply shouldn't be able to materialize life!

That's why Ron had a bottom line when it came to life; he wouldn't casually kill highly intelligent life forms like humans, even though it wasn't really a big deal...

Unfortunately, even after studying for a long time, Ron hadn't been able to fully understand this mysterious thing called life.

Life isn't just a simple composition of matter; it seems to be something that transcends matter, something that current technology simply cannot truly research to understand its essence.

However, Ron was also a little excited; he had finally encountered a challenge.

This was a good direction; he needed to thoroughly research this thing to allow his singularity to continue growing.

Perhaps, the universe Ron once became ultimately collapsed because of the absence of life?

...

One day, Ron was preparing to go to Empire State University to look for some materials related to life sciences, but unexpectedly, he encountered several familiar people on the way and inside the school.

First were Harry Osborn and Mary Jane.

Mary Jane had broken up with Flash Thompson shortly after high school graduation and went to pursue her dream of becoming an actress.

Some time ago, for some reason, these two had become a couple, and whenever they met Ron, they would show off their affection in front of him.

As usual, these two immediately started showing off their affection in front of Ron, completely disregarding his feelings.

Ron, of course, didn't want to spend more time with these two damned people.

He didn't chat with them for long, simply finding an excuse to leave.

Soon after leaving, Ron again encountered Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy at Empire State University.

That night, Peter hadn't been able to catch the Lizard monster on the bridge, allowing it to escape, and no one knew where it went, as it hadn't been seen since.

Later, after one appearance, Curt Connors also directly disappeared from Oscorp Industries, leaving no trace.

Because of this, Peter and Gwen were unable to continue as intern assistants at Oscorp Industries and returned to their school lives.

However, because of the extreme coincidence, Peter suspected that Curt Connors was the Lizard monster.

To verify this suspicion, Peter had been searching for clues and answers these past few days.

Peter had also told Ron about this suspicion and asked Ron for help in finding clues, to which Ron simply replied, "Okay," agreeing casually.

He, of course, knew that Curt Connors was the Lizard monster, but he didn't say it, because the conclusion wasn't hard to guess; Peter would understand it with a little more thought.

Life at American universities was very relaxed, and Peter and Gwen didn't have to go to Oscorp Industries as intern assistants for the time being, so they had a lot of time to spend together.

Although Ron didn't see any intimate gestures between Peter and Gwen, judging from their expressions, Ron knew that these two were probably about to start something.

Indeed, after Peter and Gwen saw Ron, they walked over side-by-side and said in unison, "Hi, Ron, how rare! You're not in the Oscorp Industries lab, but here at school too."

Ron smiled and replied, "Well, I've troubled Mr. Norman Osborn for a long time, and lately I haven't had anything good to research.

I'll probably be going to Oscorp Industries much less from now on."

"What a coincidence, Peter and I too!" Gwen Stacy looked at Peter with a knowing glance, then said.

"Me too, me too, hehe..."

Seeing Gwen look at him, Peter also replied to Ron, then chuckled foolishly, his eyes becoming even gentler as he looked at Gwen.

Seeing this scene, Ron shook his head helplessly, feeling as if he was immersed in a pool of dog food, constantly and uncomfortably eating it.

Ron had no intention of continuing to eat dog food.

He casually gave another perfunctory reply, bidding farewell to Peter and Gwen.

In fact, Ron originally wanted a girlfriend, but because his emotional fluctuations were becoming less and less frequent, he simply had no desire to find one.

Perhaps if a naked beauty stood in front of Ron now, he wouldn't have much emotional change, only feeling bored.

Moreover, the current Ron could instantly know what others were thinking, so something like a girlfriend held no attraction for him.

This was certainly not because Ron had lost 'that' function, but rather a 'side effect'—or rather, a non-'side effect' side effect—of Ron becoming the universe and possessing the singularity.

This 'side effect' would make Ron increasingly indifferent; he might eventually lose all emotions and interest in everything.

Ron knew that if he didn't make himself interested in some things again, he might truly become like Doctor Manhattan from "Watchmen," gradually turning into a heartless person.

Perhaps even more heartless than Doctor Manhattan!

Ron didn't want to become that kind of person.

In his previous human life, Ron had experienced many beautiful things and many painful things in the world, both bitter and sweet, and he missed that feeling.

So Ron thought for a long time and made up his mind, preparing to take advantage of his remaining interests and emotions, before truly reaching the point where he could ignore everything, to diligently prepare some happy things for himself, to make himself happy.

In other words, Ron was about to start causing trouble in this merged Marvel/DC world!
