Chapter 22 - Arya's Wolf

In the mansion of Alfa Flowerew, there stood a man and woman, as pale as snow with eyes as red as blood. Both looked like they were in their early twenties.

"Our job is done here, Alfa Flowerew. I should now bid my farewell..." the man spoke, with Romanian accent.

"Lord Caspian, if I may ask, can you stay one more night? I want you to witness me marking my mate and claiming her as mine," Alfa said, and Arya cringed.

"If my love wants to..." The man turned to the gorgeous woman with him.

Arya had to admit, she looked stunning, wearing a beautiful blue dress with a long train.

"Well, I would love to stay," the woman said, also in a Romanian accent.

"Then the decision is made," the man, lord Caspian said, laughing.

"Supper is ready, Alfa," an old lady came and informed them.

"Love, let's go," Alfa said to Arya, and smiled as he saw her cringe in disgust. "Get used to it. I'm marking you tomorrow night, whether you're ready or not!" Saying so, he pulled her closer to him, and walked to the dinning table.

Alfa watched as Arya suppressed her scream, at the sight of the guest, lord Caspian and lady (whatever her name is) sink their canines into the neck of two men, and sucked until the humans fell frozen in death.

"You seem shocked luna!" The woman said. "Anyway, I'm lady Jazibell and he's my mate, Caspian, lord of all vampires."

Vampires? So they also exist?

"Of course we exist," the lord said.

Arya realized that they can read minds as well.

"Where is my team?" she asked Alfa.

"Eat something."

"Are they alive?"

"Their safety depends on you. If you cooperate, they'll stay alive, and resist me, I'll have them snapped like a toothpick. Now eat..."

Arya took some salad and forced it down her throat. She wasn't hungry; how could she be... Patricia died because of her, and now her team was in danger, if they are still alive, that is.

After dinner, Alfa led Arya to a huge room, with a large balcony and walk in closet. In the middle of the room was a huge bed, and Arya stood frozen as she saw a magazine with her photo on the cover, two photo frames, one of her with Kimberly, Pete, Marcus and Natalie; the other of her with her parents, and grandpa, standing outside the house she was living in till now. She even found her original birth certificate, which she didn't even know existed.

So he knew! But for how long?

She heard the shower running, and she decided to take this opportunity to go look for her friends... but then, she thought against it. Alfa had Sinclair kill Patricia with so much ease, he will kill the other too... and worse, vampires are here as well. What if Arya had to see her friends bled dry in front of her eyes... she shook at the thought of that.

She and Rebecca had just met, and Rebecca tasted freedom for a little while only. How would she feel when she wakes up in her prison cell again? She'll think Arya betrayed her.

"Get rest! Tomorrow is a big day."

Arya looked up, and saw Flowerew wearing shorts and a vest.

Arya noticed his six pack abs and the muscles in his arms. He did look damn handsome, and his face, his hair... oh his lips... he was smirking.

"I don't want all this!" Arya managed to say, awkwardly.

"You're right! You don't want this. But the wolf inside you will," Alfa said, and before Arya could understand what was happening, he ripped the necklace off of Arya's neck.

As Caspian had said, Arya immediately gasped in shock, then curled into a ball, as a pain shot up through her body.

She threw up, then pulled he head back, as another shot of pain ran down her spine. "What's going on?" She half screamed.

She felt her bones breaking into tiny pieces, then rearranging itself, as a child would rearrange the playing blocks. "Aaahhhhaahhh."

"Don't fight it. Let it come naturally!" Alfa said to her, but all she could think about was her desire to rip his face off.

She felt claws extending from her fingers, which now looked more like paws. She smelled something, the wonderful smell of first rain falling on the wildflowers...

Arya screamed again, as yet another shot of pain hit her, this time, her face changed. Her lips and nose broke into a snout, and her ears elongated into sharp, pointy ones.

Soon, the pain was gone, but Arya was on all fours, with fur covering her body. She turned to the mirror, and to her horror, a beautiful white wolf stared back. She tried to scream, but a howl escaped her mouth.

Then, the smell kicked in again... rain on the wildflowers... the most amazing smell in this world.

Turning towards the origin of the aromatic scent, she discovered a huge jet black wolf, with shiny blue eyes.

"Mate," The words escaped her lips, before Arya could think straight.

"Mate," said the black wolf.

"How can we talk?"

"We can read each other's minds"

"How do I turn back?"

"Not now, let's go for a run first!"

Both wolves jumped out through the balcony and raced each other through the woods.

For the first time, Arya felt free, almost like getting out of a cage after a long time.

"Everything seems new," the white wolf said, smelling the trees, broken branches and dead leaves. She ran here and there, smelling and rolling around on the ground.

"I've missed you!" The black wolf said.

"Where's Arya's friends?"

This question took Alfa off guard. So Arya's wolf can feel her emotions, even though this was her first change.

"They're safe."

"I want to see them, even if it means from afar."

"Very well, love."

They ran towards alfa's other house, which sat right beside his mansion and as they neared it, the guards became highly alert. They could smell their Alfa, but a totally new scent was with him.

Arya stood still, as she heard her friends voices, "Arya is missing. We should do something!" Amelia said.

"Yeah, but what could we do? Alex said.

"Maybe we should just ask the alfa tomorrow," Darian said, as he took a bite off his sandwich.

"I'm tired. I just want to go home!" Groaned Shirley.

"And we will, as soon as we find Arya," said Maryann.

Even in this situation, they were still thinking of Arya. She has to do something.
