Chapter 61 - Luna Arya addresses the pack.

After Arya had left the office to go shopping, Alfa mindlinked Ronald. 'Ronald, I need you in my office now.'

Within seconds of that, Ronald knocked on the office door.

"You're fast!" Alfa commented as he entered the office.

"I was on my way to see you," Ronald said, closing the door behind him.

"Really? Why?" Alfa asked curiously.

"Meeting? There's a meeting? Why?" His beta asked.

If this had been someone else questioning his alfas decision, they'd be beheaded. But with Ronald, it is totally fine.

"Well, why not?" Alfa said. "Oh, I called you because you need to get someone to do the catering. There's going to be hundreds of wolves gathered in one place, and they need to eat."

"I thought that was Luna's job!" Ronald said sarcastically.

"Consider it yours. Now get going. I also have to get ready and meet with my parents."

Alfa rushed into his room. Arya hadn't returned yet, so he grabbed his suit and went towards his other room. The room he had before he became alpha and took over his father's room.

Putting his suit on his old bed, he turned to go meet with his father when he heard a knock on the door.

He opened it to see his father.

"Dad, I was just going to look for you. Please come in."

"Son, what's the meeting about? Your voice sounded so urgent."

"Yeah. The recent events have had me thinking my packs' loyalty towards me," Alfa began, and went on to explain what happened with Rebecca and Brendon's mystery caller.

"You know what, you need to be more strict about your decisions. Set up a system where you check on the welfare of the pack regularly, and now, since you have a mate, she should also handle pack business," Kane suggested.

"Yeah, we think we need to go to the prison regularly to check on the prisoners."

"Uh... you have to go regularly. Your mate, however, must first learn to become strong hearted. We don't want our Luna to break down crying in the middle of the tour just because someone got a broken rib."

"Dad!"

"Aria is stronger than she thinks she is. We just have to guide her into the pack traditions gradually. We cannot push her to become strong," Kane said with a smile and a wink.

Arya and Vivien were both ready. Arya wanted to go in with Alfa, but Marge had informed them that everyone was waiting.

"Luna?" Vivien sensed her uneasiness. "Is everything alright?"

"I don't know. I've never given a speech in my life, and standing in front of hundreds of people and saying something... I'm just scared," Arya confessed.

"You are smarter than this. You can do it... you can make our lives better. The pack needs a strong Luna. You just have to show them you're stronger than you look."

"Thanks."

Arya walked out, followed by Vivien, only to be met by Alfa, who was coming to get her.

"You look stunning!" Alfa whispered.

"You look handsome too," Arya complimented him back.

"Luna, Alpha, I'll meet you at the meeting place," Vivien said quickly before running off.

Arya walked to the stage, holding her mates hand. She felt calmer with his touch and less stressed.

"I welcome you all here, and thank you for showing up at such short notice," Alfa began with the speech. "I have called this meeting urgently because I feel like you need to know about what is happening in the pack. Without taking your time, I'd like to call on your luna, Aria, to update you on matters."

There was applause and cheers from the crowd. Alfa understood the nervousness Arya felt, so he mindlinked her, 'I'm right here! With you.'

She smiled and nodded, then walked confidently in front of everyone. Unlike humans, these wolves didn't need a microphone since their hearing was on another level.

"First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you for accepting me as your luna; for placing your trust in me and for showing me the same amount of love and respect you show your alpha," Arya began.

"I will get straight to the point of this meeting. As you all know, I was born within this pack territory, but I was raised in the human world far from here. For humans, we are nothing but mythical creatures. Intriguing and mostly fearful." Arya took a deep breath.

"But your love and kindness showed me that we are more than just creatures; we are full of love and respect, and we respect our people, like wolves should."

'Aria, you're doing fine. Just get to the point.' Alfa mindlinked her, feeling that she was suddenly blabbering nonsense.

"I, as your luna, would like to set some rules, if you all are fine with it..." she looked around at everyone, then continued, "Such as prison visits for the alpha. I recommend the alpha visit the prison monthly to ensure everything is running smoothly."

There were murmuring in the crowd. Everyone had heard of the human and the condition in which she had arrived in the hospital.

"Yes, there was an incident in the prison, in which an innocent human was starved... which brings me to my next point, you all are part of this pack; the Moonsglow pack. If you ever receive any threats to go against your pack, your alpha, or your family, you can report that directly to the alpha, via mindlink, me, or our beta and gamma. Threats should be reported to the alpha and me, and we promise to take action. Your lives and that of your family are our responsibility. The alpha's responsibility, and we promise to take care of you." Arya looked around as she spoke, feeling more confident. The look on their faces told her that they believed her and would feel safe sharing about any threats.

"I also want to put a suggestion in front of you. About the rejected wolves."

Again, a murmur rose from the crowd.

"They deserve a chance in life. I request that you give any wolf who has been rejected by their mates the support they need or punish the one who rejects his or her mate as well as that would be fair."

The way every wolf was talking made Arya understand something. These people will need to be taught how to treat rejected wolves with respect over time, as they won't do that right away.

"Lastly, I would like to thank all of you for coming, and before I let your alpha finish this meeting, I want you to know, I will always be open to listening to you, whether you want to share your problems, or just come and chat, I will always be there for you."

There was a round of applause, and Arya went back to take her seat as Alfa stood up to give the closing speech.
