Chapter 39 - The Sword King's Attack, and the Perfectly Filial Daughter Rin

In the chat group, after hearing Rin finish explaining her family situation, the members fell silent for several dozen seconds, trying to digest it all.

Madoka: "What a complicated family situation."

Madoka: "I don't know what to do."

The young Madoka was unable to handle such a complex situation. It was Tokiomi Tohsaka who wanted to send his daughter away, yet his original intention was entirely for the child's future.

Considering that the worldview of a magus was indeed different from that of an ordinary person, Tokiomi really might have been trying to give his child the greatest happiness he could imagine.

But the result of this was the separation of sisters. Never mind finding a solution to the problem, she didn't even know who was in the right. As Tokiomi had said, was depriving Sakura of the chance to inherit the path of magecraft the right thing to do?

Kanae: "It is a bit troublesome."

Kanae: "Setting aside right and wrong, under this kind of belief system, even if you stop it once, Sakura will just be sent away a second time."

Rin Tohsaka: "Yes, that's the biggest problem right now."

Erica: "The rules of magus families in your world are so complicated!"

Erica: "We're basically free-range over here."

Rin Tohsaka: "I'm so jealous."

Rin Tohsaka: "So, does anyone have any good suggestions?"

Many heads were better than one. After asking her question, Rin couldn't help but cast an expectant gaze at Su Mo's profile picture.

At this moment, not disappointing her, Su Mo finally spoke.

Su Mo: "What are your own thoughts?"

Su Mo was already familiar with the Tohsaka family's situation. Hearing Rin repeat it now, he vaguely sensed that she already had a plan of her own.

Rin Tohsaka: "I'd like to ask Lord Su Mo to help me determine whether the Matou family is reliable or not."

Faced with Su Mo's question, Rin immediately stated her thoughts. Unlike Tokiomi, who blindly trusted the Matou family, she held a basic sense of vigilance towards this strange magus family.

The ethical views of magi were different from those of ordinary people. It was best to understand the situation clearly first.

Rin Tohsaka: "If they're not reliable, then we definitely can't choose that family."

Erica: "And what if they are reliable?"

Erica: "Are you just going to compromise?"

Erica's expression was a mixture of confusion and curiosity. As far as she knew, Rin was not the type to compromise so easily. If she were willing to compromise, she wouldn't have asked for her help so many times for her sister's sake.

However, to her surprise—

Rin Tohsaka: "I have no choice. It's almost impossible to change Father's mind."

Madoka: "That's true!"

Madoka: "But we can't blame Rin-oneechan for that."

As a child herself, Madoka could understand Rin's predicament very well and quickly offered comfort.

However, Rin didn't need her comfort, because—

Rin Tohsaka: "So, if the Matou family is reliable, then I'll be the one to be adopted, and let Sakura stay at home."

Rin Tohsaka: "Sakura's personality is too gentle; she's easily bullied."

Rin Tohsaka: "I'm different. Not to mention, I still have you guys. Anyway, with my potential, I can become a qualified heir too!"

In the living room, glancing at the sister holding her hand, the young Rin gritted her teeth and said these words. This was the best solution she could think of at the moment. If someone had to be adopted out, then she was willing to take her sister's place.

As soon as she said this, the group was a little stunned.

Madoka: "Rin-oneechan is so cool!"

This act of self-sacrifice won Madoka's strong approval.

Kanae: "Willing to sacrifice herself... Rin is indeed a good older sister!"

As an older sister herself, the shared sentiment allowed Kanae to understand Rin's feelings very well.

Erica: "I have to admit, that statement has half of my magnanimity."

Erica: "However, have you thought about what you'll do if your father doesn't agree to the switch?"

Erica: "Although your potential is sufficient, doesn't magecraft also depend on affinity?"

If the attribute wasn't right, it would likely have a considerable impact on future achievements. Compared to the other two, Erica's considerations were undoubtedly more realistic.

And Rin had already considered this point.

Rin Tohsaka: "My attribute is more suitable for inheriting the Tohsaka family's legacy. Father will definitely not agree."

Madoka: "Then what should we do?"

Rin Tohsaka: "That's where Lord Su Mo comes in!"

Rin Tohsaka: "If Lord Su Mo is willing to come over and give my father a good beating, with Lord Su Mo's overwhelming advantage, Father will definitely be willing to change his mind!"

A small, devilish smile appeared at the corner of her lips as the young Rin stated her incredibly simple and direct plan.

Erica: "?"

Kanae: "?"

Madoka: "?"

Erica: "What a filial daughter you are, truly a model child!"

Madoka: "I also think... isn't that a little too simple and crude?"

Madoka: "Directly laying hands on your own father... that's not good, is it?"

For a good child like Madoka, Rin's proposal was a bit too unexpected.

Kanae: "For her sister's safety, it's not entirely incomprehensible."

Kanae: "After all, Rin is making such a big sacrifice. Her father is just getting beaten up a little. It should be a fair trade... right?"

Rin Tohsaka: "..."

Rin Tohsaka: "As long as Father doesn't find out, it's not a problem!"

It was just that the success rate wasn't high, and she really did have to consider Sakura's future. Otherwise, Rin would be more inclined to ask Su Mo to just beat up her father and make him give up the idea of adopting out his daughter.

Seeing that Rin's plan was more or less complete, Su Mo glanced in the direction of the Mediterranean and offered no opinion.

Su Mo: "We can proceed with your plan for now."

Su Mo: "How much longer do you need to wait over there?"

Rin Tohsaka: "I asked. The people from the Matou family will arrive in about half an hour."

Su Mo: "Good. I happen to have a small problem to solve on my end as well."

Su Mo: "I'll come over after I've dealt with it."

Rin Tohsaka: "Eh? Okay!"

After nodding like a chick pecking at rice, Rin and the others in the chat group all showed looks of confusion.

Madoka: "Is the big brother in some kind of trouble?"

Kanae: "The 'small problem' Lord Su Mo mentioned... don't tell me another god has descended?"

Kanae: "@Erica."

The reminded Erica was completely bewildered.

Erica: "I-I don't know!"

Erica: "We're at the magic association headquarters right now. What could possibly go wrong?"

Saying this, Erica directly started a live stream, letting everyone see where she and Su Mo were. Then, she looked up at Su Mo with a puzzled expression.

"Lord Su Mo, the small problem you mentioned is—"

Before she could finish the question, Erica's phone rang. It was a member of the association in charge of foreign affairs. As soon as she answered the call, she heard the other person's urgent tone.

"Miss Erica, i-it's terrible!"

"Calm down. The King is here. What is there to be so flustered about?" Erica's tone was composed.

"The S-Sword King! The Sword King has returned!"

The association member's tone seemed to carry a hint of despair.

"Lord Andre just sent an urgent communication, saying that the Sword King heard the King was here and is coming over directly to challenge him to a duel!"

"Huh?"

Erica was stunned for two seconds, then facepalmed.

"It's that idiot!"

No Heretic God had descended. This time, it was a God-Slayer.
