Chapter 40 - The Underground Prison, a Test Subject?

The Sword King, Salvatore Doni. As the commander of the Southern European magic associations, his reputation in the magical world was widespread.

However, unlike Marquis Voban, who was known for his brutal rule, he was famous for being a troublemaker. Even among the God-Slayers, who were each a natural disaster in their own right, he was a husky with a particularly unique personality.

If Marquis Voban had forged the prestige of the God-Slayers with the blood and tears of the magic world, then the Sword King was the type to drag that prestige through the mud.

A large part of the reason why Erica had initially looked down on God-Slayers, thinking they were all idiots she could replace, was because of the Sword King. Anyone who had been in close contact with this guy would find it difficult to feel any respect for him.

"Although I had already guessed this would happen, wasn't Lord Andre with him? Did he not stop the Sword King?" Erica pressed for more details.

Andre was a Great Knight, as well as the Sword King's butler and close friend. With him around, a problem like this shouldn't have occurred.

"Lord Andre said his interception failed. The Sword King jumped out of the plane while he wasn't looking."

The magic association member's tone was a mixture of shock and speechlessness. Even though a God-Slayer's Authority would prevent him from getting hurt, a normal person would never think of suddenly jumping out of a plane.

"Alright..." Erica shook her head. Even if Andre was a Great Knight, he couldn't have jumped out of the plane with him.

"Where did the Sword King jump?"

"In the sea area five kilometers from Fiumicino Airport. The Sword King jumped ten minutes ago. According to Lord Andre's speculation, he should be in the waters near Rome, heading straight for us."

The association member immediately provided all the information.

Although a straight line was the shortest distance between two points, perhaps only a God-Slayer with skin of copper and bones of iron could actually travel in a straight line.

After getting the information, Erica pondered for two seconds.

"With the Sword King's speed, he should have reached the beach by now. Immediately evacuate the citizens near the airport and take control of all the beaches along the coast. Report immediately once you spot the Sword King!"

After giving the order, she looked up at Su Mo. Recalling what he had said before the association member's report, an incredulous expression appeared on Erica's face.

"Lord Su Mo, the 'small problem' you mentioned earlier... you weren't referring to the Sword King, were you?"

"Mhm." Su Mo nodded.

Madoka: "Is the big brother psychic?"

"Not really. I just detected an unusual aura in advance," Su Mo shook his head.

Although he did know some magic for divination and foreseeing the future, these spells weren't very effective on him, so he hadn't delved deeply into them. The reason he could detect the Sword King Doni's presence in advance was just a passive aura detection.

Madoka: "Oh, I see."

Rin Tohsaka: "I checked. The distance between Lord Su Mo's current location and Fiumicino Airport is at least twenty-five kilometers."

Rin Tohsaka: "In other words, Lord Su Mo detected a disturbance from twenty-five kilometers away?"

Isn't that perception range a little too ridiculous?

Kanae: "At this point, something like this is no longer worth being surprised about."

Kanae: "After all, to Lord Su Mo, even an existence on the level of a God-Slayer is just a 'small problem'."

Rin Tohsaka: "That's true."

Seeing the group's worldview being increasingly skewed, Erica, as one of them, didn't find it particularly strange.

"With the Sword King's style, once he decides on a duel, it's hard to get away from him. My liege, what are your plans?" Erica asked after the reminder.

"Of course, I'm going to meet him," Su Mo answered without hesitation.

At this moment, Erica noticed that Su Mo's gaze seemed to hold a hint of anticipation.

Eh? Could it be that Lord Su Mo is also the type who enjoys battle?

Suppressing this doubt, Erica asked about her own supportive role.

"Are you going to fight the Sword King? Do we need to prepare a site in advance?"

"No need." Su Mo shook his head, then added, "But you can prepare an underground prison. Make it a sturdy one, strong enough to hold a common Phantasmal Beast."

"Yes, my liege!"

Erica immediately accepted the order, and then she realized something.

"My liege, if I may ask, why are you preparing this underground prison?"

"To hold a test subject, of course!" Su Mo said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"There aren't many test subjects with divinity. It's rare for one to deliver itself to my doorstep. I naturally can't miss this opportunity."

There was no need to ask to know that the "test subject" Su Mo was talking about was this foolish Sword King who had delivered himself to his door.

"I see. I understand."

Erica suppressed the urge to retort and nodded fiercely.

So Lord Su Mo's expectant gaze earlier wasn't in anticipation of a battle, but in anticipation of a test subject!

After Erica relayed Su Mo's orders, Su Mo directly drew a symbol of Mercury with his hand. A spatial gate immediately opened in front of him. On the other side of the gate was a beach that Erica was extremely familiar with.

If one had sharp eyes, they could even see a head bobbing in and out of sight with the tide in the waves near the beach.

"Is that... the Sword King?"

With her enhanced vision, Erica keenly spotted him.

At the same time, in the waves, the blond man who was trudging towards the beach with heavy steps also suddenly looked up. His incredibly sharp gaze passed directly through the spatial gate, over Erica, and locked firmly onto Su Mo.

In the realm of combat intuition, this Sword King seemed terrifyingly strong.
