Chapter 2 - The Cullen Family Targeted by "God"

Edward Cullen's departure did not relieve the depressing atmosphere at Forks High School in the slightest.

Instead, an even more eerie silence enveloped the campus, like the dead silence before a storm.

Everyone's eyes, intentionally or unintentionally, glanced towards the center of the storm - Isabella Swan.

But she was flipping through her biology textbook leisurely, as if nothing had happened, as if the confrontation that had just happened, which was enough to be recorded in the history of Fox High School, was just a boring farce.

The school bell rang, announcing the end of this long ordeal.

Bella packed her schoolbag slowly and was the first to walk out of the classroom amid a crowd of people looking at her with awe, curiosity, or jealousy.

She was oblivious to everything around her because her attention was drawn to the system notification sound that just popped up in her mind.

[Ding! It is detected that the host is currently located at an important plot location: Fox High School. ]

[Turn on the sign-in function! ]

[May I ask if the host has signed in at "Fox High School"? ]

Bella thought to herself.

This is another new feature of the system, which is simply a benefit delivered to your door.

[Sign in successfully! ]

[Congratulations to the host for receiving the reward: Psionic Shielding Aura (Passive)! ]

[Psychic Shielding Aura]: Automatically blocks all detection of spiritual supernatural powers, including but not limited to mind reading, future prediction, emotional perception, etc. This aura is automatically equipped for the host and can be turned on or off at any time.

Bella's steps paused slightly, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but rise.

This reward was like timely help. No, it was like giving her a layer of the strongest invisible armor when she was already fully armed!

She knew that the Cullen family would never give up.

An ordinary person whose mind-reading ability fails is enough to make them alert.

Now, even Alice's predictive ability is ineffective against her. She will completely become the biggest unknown that the Cullen family cannot control.

"I have an absolute defense against the psychic powers of the Cullen family."

"I like the feeling of being able to manipulate the enemy at will, rather than passively accepting their arrangements like in the original novel."

"I need to leave this troubled place as soon as possible, go to La Push, find my little wolfdog, and build my own power!"

Bella's goal was clear and her steps became lighter.

However, as soon as she reached the exit hall of the teaching building, she was stopped by someone.

The five members of the Karen family were like five exquisite yet icy cold statues, standing neatly in front of her.

The leader was Edward, who had just been angered by her.

His expression was still grim, but he had regained his pretentious elegance. However, his golden eyes were filled with uncontrollable inquiry and anger.

Beside him, the pretty elf-like Alice had a sweet smile on her face, but there was no smile at all in her big eyes, only deep confusion.

Jasper's brows were furrowed, as if he was trying his best to endure some kind of pain.

Rosalie, on the other hand, had an undisguised look of gloating and contempt on her face. She crossed her arms and looked Bella up and down with a scrutinizing gaze, as if she was looking at some low-class person.

Only the big guy Emmett had a smile on his face, as if he was watching the fun.

"Miss Swan."

Edward spoke first, his voice deliberately low and magnetic, which was his usual trick to seduce human women.

"I think there may be some misunderstanding between us."

"I apologize for my behavior in class today."

As he apologized, his chin was slightly raised with an innate arrogance that belonged to a vampire.

Bella sneered in her heart.

Apologize?

No, you just want to try your mind-reading skills again, up close.

She could feel an invisible, cold spiritual force surging into her mind like a tide, but it was easily blocked by an invisible barrier formed by the [Psychic Shielding Aura].

Edward's pupils shrank slightly.

Still not working!

This girl's brain is like a safe wrapped in lead plates, airtight!

"It's okay, Karen-san."

Bella raised her eyes, her gaze swept over him calmly, and then fell on Alice beside him.

"However, I am more curious about one thing than an apology."

"Do all of you Cullen family members like to block the road in groups like this?"

Her tone was calm, but like a needle, it accurately pierced the false illusion of peace they had carefully maintained.

Rosalie's face instantly turned cold.

"you!"

"Rosalie," Edward whispered to stop her.

Alice beside him took a step forward, smiling a sickly sweet smile.

"Hello, Bella, my name is Alice Cullen."

She held out her hand as if to shake Bella's.

"I just saw a very interesting picture. I think we will become very good friends in the future."

She is lying.

Bella saw through it immediately.

Alice couldn't see anything at all.

Her future, to this prophet, was one of utter and terrifying darkness.

She stretched out her hand, just wanting to see if she could force open a gap for the future through physical contact.

It's so ridiculous and pathetic.

Bella ignored the hand she extended and just held her schoolbag, tilting her head with an innocent look in her eyes.

"Yeah?"

"But my mother told me since I was a child not to make friends with strangers."

"Especially... strangers who smell weird."

After she finished speaking, she fanned her nose in a deliberate manner.

This sentence is a map cannon attack on the entire Cullen family!

"You ungrateful human!"

Rosalie finally couldn't help it, and her beautiful face was full of anger.

Jasper also took a step forward. The aura on his body became extremely dangerous, and the temperature of the air around him seemed to drop a few degrees.

He wanted to use his ability to perceive and influence emotions to make the girl feel deep fear and despair!

However, his ability disappeared without a trace the moment it touched Bella.

For the first time, Jasper's expression became the same as Edward's, full of shock and confusion.

How could that be?

Why is it that my ability is ineffective against her?

Fear, coercion, comfort... all emotional transmissions have failed!

She was like an insulator, isolating all their extraordinary abilities!

The five people of the Cullen family felt a huge wave of emotion in their hearts at this moment.

If only one Edward's ability failed, it could be explained as some rare spiritual talent.

But now, even Alice's foresight and Jasper's emotional perception have failed at the same time!

This is no longer a coincidence!

This girl named Isabella Swan is definitely not an ordinary person!

She is hiding a huge secret that is enough to subvert their cognition!

Looking at their colorful expressions, Bella felt extremely bored.

Is that all the trick?

She didn't even bother to say another word to them.

"A good dog doesn't block the road."

Bella said this lightly, and then walked easily between their stiff bodies as if nothing had happened.

Her movements were so casual, so natural.

It was as if the five vampires in front of them, who were feared by all the teachers and students in the school, were really just a few wooden stakes blocking the way.

The whole hall was dead silent.

All the students who witnessed this scene felt that their worldview had been completely overturned.

That new transfer student...she, she actually ignored the entire Cullen family!

And they are... dogs?

Oh my god!

Edward froze in place, his fists clenched tightly. He could hear his heart beating violently with anger, but it had already turned cold.

shame!

An unprecedented shame!

He stared at Bella's departing back, which looked thin and frail, but at this moment, seemed extremely tall and mysterious.

"Who is she?"

Alice murmured to herself, and for the first time, her sweet voice was trembling and afraid.

"I can't see anything... I can't see anything... She is like a black hole that will swallow up all the future that comes close to her..."

"Edward."

Rosalie, who had been silent the whole time, spoke in a cold voice.

"I've said it before, if you get involved with humans, something bad will happen sooner or later."

"Now, here comes the trouble."

Bella paid no attention to the storm behind her.

She walked straight to the parking lot and got into her old Chevy pickup truck.

"boom--"

The engine made a loud roar, like a wild beast roaring, in stark contrast to the quiet, expensive luxury cars in the parking lot.

She skillfully shifted gears, stepped on the accelerator, and drove out.

In the rearview mirror, the five pale and shocked faces of the Cullen family became smaller and smaller, and finally disappeared.

"Goodbye, boring vampire."

Bella said softly, feeling extremely relieved.

[Ding! Hidden mission: Defeat the Cullen family's temptation, completed! ]

[Task evaluation: S+ level! Impeccable! ]

[System Reward: Complete Collection of Quileute Wolf Tribe Legends (already stored in the host's memory).]

[Quileute Wolf Tribe Legends and Knowledge Encyclopedia]: Contains all the myths, legends, history and taboos passed down by the Quileute tribe since ancient times. The host will know everything about the wolf tribe better than the elders in the tribe.

Another surprise!

Bella's mouth curled up again.

This reward is so timely.

Not only does it allow her to perfectly play the role of a "prophet" in the next contact with the wolf tribe, but it also allows her to find the most appropriate and sacred way to bestow the [Ancient Wolf God Bloodline] on Jacob.

She wanted more than just to make Jacob stronger.

What she wants is to completely control the entire wolf clan from the root and from the perspective of faith!

She wants to become the god of the wolf tribe!

The pickup truck drove out of the town of Forks and sped toward the western coastline.

The view outside the window gradually changed from a gloomy town to a humid and vibrant rainforest.

The salty smell of the sea breeze became stronger and stronger in the air.

La Push Preserve, here we are.

That place belongs to the wolf clan and Jacob.

Bella parked the car on the road next to the beach and took a deep breath.

The air smells hot, wild, and full of life.

This smell is ten thousand times better than the sweet and greasy stench on Edward's body!

Her heart was filled with anticipation.

In the original book, Bella and Jacob first met on the beach in La Push. In order to get away from the entanglement of Mike Newton and others, she took the initiative to find Jacob.

But now, she doesn't need any excuses.

She came just for him.

Based on her memory, she quickly found the familiar red house.

Jacob's home.

Before she could get any closer, a tall, sunny figure walked out of the garage.

He was shirtless, revealing his bronzed, toned muscles, his long black hair casually draped over his shoulders, and he had a smile on his face as bright as the California sunshine.

It was Jacob Blake as a teenager.

The moment he saw Bella, the smile on his face froze for a moment, then became brighter and more surprised.

"Bella?"

"Oh my God, it's really you! Why are you here?"

He ran over quickly, each step filled with strength and joy.

Bella looked at the boy in front of her and her heart skipped a beat uncontrollably.

This is her little wolfdog.

Having not experienced betrayal or hurt, her eyes are as clear as a spring and her smile is warm enough to melt everything.

very nice.

Bella's face showed the first gentle smile that came from the heart since she traveled through time.

"I'm coming to you, Jacob."

Her voice was soft but firm.

At the same time, on the outskirts of Fox Town, in a luxurious glass villa hidden deep in the forest.

The atmosphere was depressing to the extreme.

All seven members of the Cullen family were present.

Including their nominal "father", the head of the family, Carlisle Cullen.

and "Mother", the gentle and kind Esme Cullen.

"Edward, Alice, Jasper."

Carlisle sat in the main seat on the sofa, his golden hair combed meticulously, and his handsome face showed an unprecedented solemnity.

"Tell me everything that happened at school today in detail."

"Don't miss any detail."

Edward, Alice and Jasper recounted exactly what happened today.

From the phrase "You smell too strong" in biology class to the phrase "A good dog doesn't block the road" in the hall.

From the failure of mind reading, to the complete darkness of predicting the future, to the complete isolation of emotional perception.

There was a long silence in the living room.

Shock and disbelief were written all over the face of every vampire.

"This is impossible..."

Esme muttered, worry evident on her face.

"How could a human girl block the abilities of all three of you at the same time?"

"unless..."

Carlisle's voice became extremely low.

"She is not human."

This speculation made everyone's heart sink.

"I checked it." Edward said immediately, "I was very close to her. I could smell her blood flowing and hear her heart beating. The scent on her was definitely human, and it was a very sweet... seductive human scent."

When he finished speaking, his eyes became a little complicated.

"That's even more terrifying."

Rosalie, who had been watching coldly, finally spoke, her voice trembling slightly.

"A being that possesses a human identity but is completely immune to our abilities."

"Have you ever thought about what this means?"

"This means that all our advantages are gone in front of her! Mind reading, precognition, strength, speed... If she wants to harm us, we can't even predict it in advance, nor can we judge her intentions by reading her mind!"

"She is a complete and utter 'blind spot' for us!"

Rosalie's words were like a heavy hammer, hitting the hearts of every Karen member hard.

For the first time in this world, they felt the fear of the unknown.

"The words she said today..." Jasper began with difficulty, "are full of... disgust and contempt for us. She wasn't pretending. Although I can't influence her, I can feel that these are her truest emotions."

"Why?" Alice was about to cry, "We don't even know her, why does she hate us so much?"

"The question isn't why she hates us."

Carlisle stood up and paced back and forth in the living room, finally stopping in front of the huge French window and looking at the dark night outside.

"The problem is, we know nothing about her, and she...seems to know everything about us."

"She knows what we are capable of, and even knows how to humiliate us most effectively."

"This is definitely not something an ordinary transfer student can do."

He turned around and scanned every member of his family with his eyes as fast as lightning.

"From today on, Isabella Swan will be the highest level threat to the Cullen family."

"We must, at all costs, find out who she is and what her purpose in coming to Forks is!"

Carlisle's decision set the tone for the entire incident.

An undercurrent investigation against Bella is about to begin.

However, they did not know that the "biggest threat" in their eyes was currently basking in the warm breeze of La Push Beach, looking at the bright smile of the sunny boy in front of him, and in his heart was planning a grand blueprint that would completely bury their entire vampire race.

The new era will not wait in their investigation.

It will come early with the howling of wolves.
