Chapter 5 - Leash

Alina's pov

Charmaine turned to me with a frown but there was this questioning expression in her eyes, she turned away immediately I noticed the gaze. I grabbed Maggy's hand as I pulled her towards the bed.

"She's just a bodyguard, Maggy. Ignore her" I said as we both sat on the bed. Maggy's eyes couldn't leave Charmaine and it made me frown as a tingling sensation started to form in my chest, but I ignored whatever that was.

"Charmaine, go stand outside the door" I said to Charmaine, my voice low but authoritative. She turned to meet my eyes, nodding as she stood up leaving the room.

"What was that for?" Maggy asked immediately charmaine left the room, I shrugged as I laid on the bed with a sigh. "She's so hot"

"I've heard that before Maggy, geez" I knew Charmaine was hot and sexy but she spelt nothing but danger and I didn't want to have anything to do with that.

Maggy took off her sneakers as she joined me on the bed, we stared at the ceiling in silence for a while. "So, what should we do first?"

She finally asked and I thought about it for a while, I had been inside all day and didn't have the chance to leave the house.

"How about we go to McDonald's? Been long I ate burgers" I said as I moaned remembering that oily and sweet sandwich, I always got after highschool, few years back.

"Mm that would be nice but I'm car sick, why don't you go get us some snacks and I'd freshen up?" She offered and I nodded, jumping off the bed I pointed to the bathroom.

"Don't touch any expensive things, or you'll replace them" I smiled at her but the smile didn't reach my eyes.

I slipped on my flipflops as I walked out of the room, but as I opened the door, I half expected Charmaine to be here but she wasn't.

I shrugged, heading to the kitchen. I was so happy Maggy came over, out of excitement, I did a twirl while walking and slammed my forehead into something soft but damn it still hurts.

"I-i'm sorry, I wasn't looking at where I was going" I apologized to the person, raising my head up, Charmaine stood in front of me with a straight face but the blush on her cheeks made me frown.

"You should really watch where you're going, miss" She said casually before walking back to the room. I stood rooted on my spot, wondering why she had that blush on her face?

I shrugged and continued my trip down to the kitchen. Getting downstairs, the kitchen was half empty, so I just grabbed some snacks and made two ramen cups, before heading back upstairs.

When I got to my room, I pushed open the door with my foot, expecting to see Charmaine outside but since she wasn't there I just had to open the door another way. But as I stepped into the room, I met Charmaine giving Maggy a back hug.

"The fuck are both of you doing?" I yelled as Maggy flinched pulling away from Charmaine but said bodyguard didn't even acknowledge my question.

I dropped the snacks and ramen on the tea table as I walked over to Charmaine. "You! Leave the room, I need to speak with this bodyguard of mine"

My voice was clipped and for some reason I couldn't take my gaze away from Charmaine's eyes. Maggy understood my instructions and ran out of the room.

"What is the meaning of this?" I asked Charmaine as we held gazes, her face held no emotion at all and it made me angry.

"I was helping her tie the ribbon on her waist. You told me to stay away from her why not put your friend on a leash?" I watched her shrug as she literally referred to my friend as a dog.

"Did you just refer to her as a dog?" I asked as I took a step forward. Charmaine's lips pulled up into a challenging smirk before taking her own step forward. "I have no idea why you saved me that night, but you have no right whatsoever to speak to me or my friends in such manner"

I said to Charmaine who for once let out a chuckle. She grabbed my chin with her hand, applying a little force on the hand that held my chin.

"We both know you are nothing but a spoilt child, Alina. Mind the way you speak to me-" I couldn't find the courage to take her hand off my chin, it felt as I couldn't move in general. "I mean it, princess"

She said as she finally let go of my chin, taking a step back as she her face became emotionless once again. "I'd take my leave now"

She bowed a bit before walking out of the room. She was right in a way, I was nothing but a spoilt child. I smiled sadly to myself as I heard the door open, Maggy walked into the room, her eyes down as she approached me.

"Stay away from my bodyguard, Maggy. If this repeats itself again, consider yourself her best friend, not mine" I couldn't help but say and I heard her sigh in relief a she pulled me into her arms for a bear hug.

"We really didn't do anything. She just helped with my bow"

I heard her apologize but as we hugged, my eyes went to the door. Maybe I had over reacted earlier, but she was my bodyguard and not the other way round.

Now that I think about it, Charmaine had never seen dad as her superior. Why? Anyone who respected my father would never act this way.

Or was I just being paranoid?

I pulled Maggy over to the bed, grabbing the remote as I turned on the television. I was determined to get that dumb bodyguard out of my head and this is the best way.
