Alina's pov
I stayed in the position I was since I entered this room, the cold feeling of the marble tiles made me want to lie down but at last, I didn't want to make anyone worry.
My hand shook slightly at the thought of Aurelius, he promised not to tell, but between him and Charmaine... something would definitely slip out.
It seemed like my dumb body knew, because I wasn't scared or cold but the feeling of what might come after Charmaine finds out, made my hand tremble slightly. I shook my head, pushing myself off the floor.
I didn't want to feel like I was playing two adults, I felt nothing for. My heart stopped beating for a second and it made me place a hand over my chest with a frown.
Quit lying to yourself, my body spat and I frowned. I didn't want to think about them anymore, my eyes moved around my large bathroom and a smile slowly formed on my lips.
I took off my clothes, tossing them into the laundry basket that laid nearby. I walked towards the large ceramic tub that was placed at the corner of the bathroom, I turned on the tap, waiting in a corner for it to fill up.
"Alina! Do you want to have something to eat?" I heard Charmaine say from outside the bathroom, and my smile was quick to falter.
"No, I'm not hungry" I said quietly, pulling my gaze from the door and back to the tub that was almost filled with water.
"Is something the matter?" Charmaine asked, her voice was low and cold. Was she upset?
"N-no, I'm just cold. I'll be out soon" I said standing up from where I was seated. I was so lost in thoughts I had no idea the water had overflown.
Water flowed down to the tiles, making me facepalm as I turned off the tap. I walked carefully, heading to a cabinet where I grabbed a bottle of bath wash.
I was so focused on walking carefully back to the tub when the door clicked open, I turned in horror to see Charmaine staring at me with a raised eyebrow. My hands instinctively shot out to cover whatever was left of my body.
"What the fuck?" I half yelled but Charmaine didn't seem to have plans of leaving. Her purple hair fell covering one of her eyes as she ran her small pink tongue over her lower lips, almost seductively.
I turned around about to grab a towel, until my foot slid out from under me. A gasp escaped my lips as I found myself falling backwards, I crashed to the floor with a painful moan.
"Fuck!" I heard Charmaine exclaim as she hurried to my side. The back of my head felt numb and I couldn't even feel my waist anymore.
She placed a hand behind my back and the other under my thighs lifting me up from the floor. "Be careful"
I whispered with whatever strength was left in my body, I didn't need any of us falling to the floor once more. She grabbed a towel from the iron rack that was right at the side of the bathroom door, threw it over my naked body as she walked back to the main bedroom.
"What was that?" Charmaine asked as she dropped me on my bed. The fluffy and cold bedspread made pain shoot up to my head.
"W-what do you mean?" I asked, eyes widened as I placed a hand on my hip.
I didn't need her criticizing me after taking a hard fall like that, she was the cause of me falling.
"Did I do something wrong? You spent almost thirty minutes in the bathroom and when I try to find out what's going on you give me cold replies. For crying out loud, we just kissed, few hours ago and you go back to acting like I'm your mere bodyguard" Her voice was cold, and surprisingly accurate.
I looked at the ceiling, mainly because I wanted to avoid her eyes. Who knows what might leave my lips if she keeps talking.
"Alina? You better fucking answer me when I speak to you" Charmaine yelled after few minutes of silence, I flinched tearing my gaze off the ceiling and turning to look into her eyes. They were burning with intense anger and I don't know if I was wrong but it felt like she was...sad.
"But at the end, you are just my bodyguard" I closed my eyes and said. My voice was as low as I imagined it to be but what happened next made me feel stupid.
"Hahahahaha, Just your bodyguard? When you fucking kissed Aurelius, you were caught in the moment. You didn't feel anything like you felt with me and you dare call me your mere bodyguard?" Charmaine wasn't playing around with me. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath but when it snapped back open, that cold, frosted gaze was back in her eyes.
"Suite yourself, but I hope you don't regret it" She said turning around to leave the room but her steps lingered more than necessary.
Was she expecting me to stop her?
I asked myself quietly but was shocked when the door slammed closed. I sighed, slapping my cold hand over my face in shame.
This was what I had waited for since she was first introduced as my boyfriend. But why did I feel so stupid for letting her walk away like that?
My father would never approve our relationship, considering the fact that I had no idea I was into women. Thinking about it now, a shame filled chuckle escaped my lips.
I had a reputation at stake if anyone finds out I am into girls, I can't let my father's reputation end up in the slums because of little old me.
I have to stay away from Charmaine.
I decided finally, pulling the towel closer to my body as I shut my eyes slowly. Maybe when I wake up tomorrow, this would all be a dream.
