Chapter 16 - Be Careful

Alina's pov

"Jesus Christ"

I screamed for the last time as I ended up on the floor. Yes, last night wasn't a dream. No matter how hard I prayed for it to be one, it was so freaking real that I could still feel the impact of my fall in my bones.

I had been trying to get out of bed but each time I did, a small shock of pain shot to my legs and they gave out almost immediately.

The sun was peeking through the sides of my

curtains, giving the room a warm and vibrant glow.

The complete opposite of my mood.

"C-charmaine!" I yelled as I sat on the floor helplessly. I watched the door knob turn as the door was pushed open, Charmaine stepped into the room with a bored look on her face.

Her black suit was starched to perfection, the loafers on her feets were not as cute as mine but I could definitely see my reflection in them. I looked up at her helpless and my words got stuck in my throat.

Her hair was rolled into a bun, with a black hair pin sticking out of it, her long lashes fluttered slightly as she rarely blinked.

My eyes slowly moved down to her lips and I blushed looking away almost immediately.

"Are you done oggling over me?" She asked making me pause as I looked away in guilt but she ignored my reaction and continued, "and why might you be seated on the floor?"

She asked clearly irritated but my current position. How could she act like this after what happened yesterday? I asked myself but I wouldn't give her the chance to mock me or rather, make me feel guilty.

"Remember what happened yesterday? I fell and now my hips hurt like I've been run over by a train. So I need help to get into the bathroom and shower" I said, bringing my eyes to look at her face but she still had that same bored expression on her face.

"I remember what happened yesterday, ma'am. But I'm just your bodyguard, nothing of such was stated in my contract. I would get some maids to help you" Charmaine smiled at me, placed a hand on her belly as she bowed slightly. I watched her walk out of the room, hand still tucked in her pocket.

My chest heaved as I stared at the door angrily, a scream left my lips as I slammed my left leg into the bed as if trying to kick it but I immediately regretted it as my leg fell on the bedframe allowing pain envelope the leg.

Just kill me. I groaned falling back on the cold tiles, I decided to stay here till someone comes to attend to me.

After waiting for few minutes, Charmaine walked back into the room with a maid. "My Lady, are you alright?"

She asked as she helped me off she floor, I turned to give her a cold glare almost immediately. "Shut your mouth and do as you're told"

She helped me into the bathroom and I couldn't help but glance back at Charmaine who left the room unbothered by my foul mood.

"You don't have to look at me like I did something wrong" I said to Maggy who didn't stop looking at me, she had been very suspicious of me ever since I mentioned my waist hurt.

"Why shouldn't I be? How can you trip over in the bathroom? You aren't blind" she spat viciously rolling her eyes as she took a sip of her juice.

I shouldn't be keeping things from her but considering the fact Aurelius was right beside her, I decided not to say a word.

"Maggy, drop it" My voice was low and devoid of any emotions. She stared at me a bit dumbfounded but said nothing about the topic again.

"Your father would be back by the end of the week, Alina" Aurelius broke the awkward silence and I couldn't help but I tip my head at him, confused.

"Even if my father comes home next month, I don't think it matters. Right?" I said to him and he gave me a weird look that had me frowning at him.

"It matters, and you know that it does" Aurelius placed his glass back on the tea table, bringing his gaze to look at me. "I don't know what happened but security would get tighter, curfew would be more strict and you know what happens next?"

"Charmaine get to boss me around, again" I stood up from my seat about heading inside but Aurelius was quicker and grabbed my elbow almost immediately.

"Maggy, privacy" Aurelius's voice was soft making Maggy glance at me worried but she left the room either way. "You know I didn't mean it like that"

"You didn't mean it but that's obviously the truth" I huffed shaking his grip off my hand as I approached the door.

"You still aren't going to tell her about Princess Phina?" Aurelius asked as we made our way to the garden.

My waist was hurting but I didn't think about it, the thought of Charmaine hovering over me all day was just irritating.

No offense.

"I won't" I muttered, my hands beside me had clenched into fists. "I can still remember the look on her face when we arrived yesterday, what do you think would happen if I told her?"

"Be careful around Charmaine. I know you think I'm over thinking things but... she's not the type of person who easily forgets. She won't get betrayed"

He sounded so sure that Charmaine would find out and he was half right. "You're making it sound like I betrayed her"

I scoffed playing with my fingers nervously. "I'm saying she might feel like you did" He paused, stopping in his tracks almost immediately. "You need to tell her"

"I kissed her" I blurted and I saw Aurelius's eyes widen but only briefly.

"You have to be kidding me" He l

aughed, but the serious look in my eyes said otherwise. "You really did."
