Chapter 97 - TST [97]

Aside from Dark Room of Nightmare, Morgan also drew a Terraforming, which can search a Field Spell from the Deck.

However, Morgan didn't use it for now. After all, the field was already set up, and all that was left was to wait for Kairos to get burned.

"I activate the Continuous Spell Card, Dark Room of Nightmare, from my hand!"

Kairos, who thought Morgan's turn was over, instantly put on a pained expression when he saw the card. It must not have been in Morgan's hand earlier—otherwise, she would have used it sooner. She must have drawn it through that monster effect.

Either way, the damage from card draws next turn would now be doubled.

Kairos glanced at the Cyber Emergency in his hand and immediately frowned.

Before using that card to begin his plays, he first needed to deal with Morgan's Trickstar Lycoris on the field.

Morgan took a quick look at her hand and didn't continue chaining, instead ending her turn. After all, this was someone else's Graduation Duel—it wouldn't do to make it too one-sided.

"I'll set one card. My turn ends!"

Hearing Morgan end her turn, the crowd in the stands collectively breathed a sigh of relief, worried she might pull out some underworld card to take Kairos down immediately.

"Morgan's turn has finally ended. Now I can relax."

"Let's see how Kairos can break through Morgan's field next… it's going to be tough."

"Don't say that. Cyber Dragons, going second, are still strong. Last time I dueled Kairos, he pulled out a monster with tens of thousands of Attack Points and OTK'd me."

"No way! I've never seen a monster with that much Attack before!"

"Heh, you need to respect the value of three Limiter Removals."

From his spot on the podium, the principal watched the scene in satisfaction, thinking to himself how glad he was he hadn't expelled Morgan. Otherwise, the Middle Division of Duel Academy wouldn't be gaining fame in her wake. Just in the past few days, more than twenty transfer students had enrolled, and next year's advancement rate was looking secure.

More parents had also been coming to the school for consultations.

He planned to make a video of this Graduation Duel to post on the school's website for publicity—it would certainly have a great effect.

Now it was Kairos's turn. His face was no longer pale, and his eyes had taken on a look of determination.

After all, Morgan had gone all out from the start. And now, only in the second turn, it was already a matter of life and death.

Kairos decided to go all in—this turn, he would give it everything he had, and at the very least, he had to break through Morgan's lock.

"My turn! Draw!"

Kairos ignored his rapidly dropping Life Points and glanced at his hand. Thanks to Morgan giving him three cards last turn, he now had plenty of resources.

After a moment's thought, Kairos immediately decided on his chain of plays.

"I Special Summon Cyber Dragon in Attack Position!"

"If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card from your hand!"

A shining silver mechanical dragon appeared on the field—it was the ace monster of Kairos's Deck.

Morgan stared at the monster.

She was quite familiar with Cyber Dragons. In her previous life, before Verte Anaconda got banned, she herself had been a proud Cyber Dragon player, usually just Terraforming the Deck away with Future Fusion, then struggling onward with an Overload Fusion.

She wasn't sure, though, what stage of Cyber Dragon combos this world was at.

After summoning Cyber Dragon, Kairos didn't pause and proceeded with his next move.

Since Cyber Dragon was Special Summoned, he still had his Normal Summon available.

"I Normal Summon Cyber Dragon Herz in Attack Position from my hand!"

A red skeletal mechanical monster appeared on the field, seemingly a component of the larger Cyber Dragon.

[Cyber Dragon Herz] Level 1│LIGHT│Machine│100 ATK / 100 DEF

"This card's name becomes Cyber Dragon while on the field or in the Graveyard."

Kairos immediately declared his intent. As long as this card could be treated as Cyber Dragon, he could bring out the rest from his Deck.

"Next, I activate the Spell Card, Machine Duplication, from my hand!"

"Target 1 Machine-Type monster you control with 500 or less Attack; Special Summon up to 2 monsters with the same name from your Deck."

Kairos targeted his 100-Attack Cyber Dragon Herz.

"I Special Summon the remaining two Cyber Dragons from my Deck!"

Two beams of golden light flashed on the field, and two more Cyber Dragons appeared. With all three now present, it was time for his next step—Fusion or Xyz?

Morgan's eyes sharpened as she watched Kairos. Either way, he still had ways to clear the field.

Kairos thought for a brief moment before speaking decisively:

"I overlay my two Cyber Dragons to build the Overlay Network!"

"I Xyz Summon Cyber Dragon Nova!"

A golden data vortex appeared above Kairos's head. The two Cyber Dragons entered it, and the vortex contracted, revealing a new monster.

Unlike the traditional silver Cyber Dragons, this one had streaks of blood red, and its body seemed reborn, sprouting turbine-like wings that gave it an even more imposing presence.

So he chose Xyz after all.

Morgan's eyes flashed—if Kairos was going for an Xyz Summon, she already knew what his next move would be.

She glanced at her set card.

Now, Kairos had to clear her cards on the field and wouldn't have time to deal with her set, giving her a chance to block the attack.

"I activate Cyber Dragon Nova's effect!"

"Once per turn: You can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 Cyber Dragon in your Graveyard; Special Summon it."

"I Special Summon Cyber Dragon from my Graveyard in Attack Position!"

With Cyber Dragon revived, Kairos had another attacker.

"My Xyz Summon isn't over yet!"

"I overlay Cyber Dragon Nova to build the Overlay Network once more!"

Morgan immediately recognized the familiar sight—if Nova was already here, then Infinity was next!

"Xyz Summon! Cyber Dragon Infinity!"

It was as if the evolution was complete—Infinity had lost almost all its silver, replaced by black and red. It was now a fully complete form, unlike the half-finished Nova.

Seeing Infinity on the field, Kairos finally looked relieved and immediately declared:

"I activate Cyber Dragon Infinity's effect!"
