Chapter 98 - TST [98]

"Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up Attack Position monster on the field; attach it to this card as material!"

"I attach one of your Trickstar Lycoris on the field to this card as material!"

Cyber Dragon Infinity roared, and one of the Trickstar Lycoris in front of Morgan vanished, reducing her damage output. At the same time, Kairos had achieved his aim—so long as Infinity remained on the field, Morgan could never have all three Lycoris at once.

This was just the first step in breaking Morgan's lock, though. Relying solely on Infinity would not be enough to win.

With the Duel at this stage, Kairos intended to stick to his convictions. Since dragging it out another turn would add too many variables, he decided to gamble everything this turn, aiming to end the Duel with Cyber Dragon's supreme Attack.

But before that, to avoid losing Life Points during his setup, he needed to destroy Morgan's Dark Room of Nightmare!

"I activate the Spell Card, Evolution Burst, from my hand!"

"You can only activate this card if you control a face-up Cyber Dragon. Target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it!"

Kairos pointed straight at Morgan's Dark Room of Nightmare and shouted through gritted teeth:

"I destroy your Dark Room of Nightmare!"

Bang!

The Continuous Spell before Morgan vanished instantly. She wasn't flustered, though—she ran three copies of that card in her Deck and could draw another at any time.

She was merely surprised at Kairos's choice. In her previous life, Cyber Dragon Decks rarely ran Evolution Burst, since after using it, Cyber Dragons couldn't attack—a serious drawback.

It was clear that in this world, Kairos's build was a pure Cyber Dragon Deck with no alternate engines, though likely with many generic staples.

Since he chose to destroy the Dark Room of Nightmare, it meant Kairos was going to extend. If he didn't, and instead let her freely search a card, the Duel could end instantly with no chance to struggle.

The students in the stands were wide-eyed—they hadn't expected Kairos to break Morgan's lock so easily.

"Impressive! Even though Cyber Dragons can't attack this turn, destroying Dark Room gives him breathing room."

"Looks like Kairos has gotten stronger lately… he's no weaker than some of the new club prodigies."

"Still, if he can't finish the Duel this turn, then who knows what will happen on Morgan's turn? The risk is huge."

"Yeah! Morgan's Deck still has other combos, like Holly Angel, and Kairos's Life Points are already low…"

Hearing their chatter, Morgan gave a helpless smile. Though she had only publicly used her Trickstar Deck once or twice, she had played it many times in Virtual Duels—enough that most of the core combos had been dissected.

It was likely she'd soon be targeted heavily, so her Spirit Sight Talent would have to wait. For now, she needed a new Deck.

Kairos steeled himself—if he still couldn't win after this, so be it.

"I activate the Spell Card, Future Fusion, from my hand!"

He slapped the card onto his Duel Disk, determination in his eyes.

'Future Fusion?'

Morgan's expression turned odd. 'Could it be…'

The crowd also grew eager—Fusion Summoning was another key method in Cyber Dragon strategies.

"Its effect: Reveal 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, then send the listed Fusion Materials from your Deck to the Graveyard. During your 2nd Standby Phase after activation, Special Summon that Fusion Monster."

Kairos spoke solemnly, but the audience was puzzled. If he wanted to win, he'd need to end things fast. Future Fusion's summon came two turns later—by then, the Duel would be over.

Among them, Isla, who had been frantically snapping photos, suddenly froze and muttered in disbelief:

"No way… don't tell me he's going to…"

Kairos revealed his chosen Fusion Monster.

"I choose Chimeratech Overdragon!"

"And the Fusion Materials I'll send are… every Machine monster in my Deck!"

His voice was low and resolute. After a brief search, his Duel Disk ejected a massive stack of cards.

He pulled them all out and sent them to the Graveyard, leaving only a thin layer of Spells and Traps in his Deck—no monsters left.

The crowd was stunned. He'd gutted his Deck for a monster that might not even be summoned? Insanity!

It was the very definition of nuking your own Deck.

But Morgan—and Isla, who had once dueled him—knew the truth. Kairos's aim wasn't to summon with Future Fusion at all, but to use it to load his Graveyard.

Next, he would fuse from there.

Kairos grinned, sweat running down his forehead, but the heat in his eyes undimmed.

"Next, I activate the Spell Card, Overload Fusion, from my hand!"

"Banish Fusion Materials listed on a DARK Machine Fusion Monster from your field or Graveyard; Special Summon that monster from your Extra Deck."

"I banish every monster from my field and Graveyard!"

"Fusion Summon! Chimeratech Overdragon!"

Every monster on Kairos's field vanished, replaced by a colossal mechanical dragon. Five heads shared a single body, and to be stared at by all five at once was overwhelming. Just seeing its Attack Points could drive one to despair.

With tens of thousands of Attack Points, if its attack connected, the Duel would end instantly.

The crowd's jaws dropped. Chimeratech Overdragon's Attack was tied to the number of Fusion Materials used, as was its number of attacks.

This behemoth could attack over a dozen times!

Even if Morgan's Monster Zones were full, it wouldn't be enough to stop it… let alone when one of her monsters was a Link Monster that couldn't go into Defense Position.

Isla stared in shock, her camera forgotten.

Kairos wasted no time and declared his attack!

"Battle! Chimeratech Overdragon—Attack, Trickstar Crimson Heart!"
