Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Meditation Method

After finishing his meal, Shiyu Uchiha bowed respectfully to his mother before heading back to his room with his backpack, intending to meditate for a while. Ever since he was reborn into this world and realized just how important strength was, he had begun searching for ways to grow stronger as soon as his body recovered.

Once he regained his physical strength, he laid out a plan for his future growth: focusing mainly on mastering Fire Release techniques from the Uchiha clan and combining them with swordsmanship to build his own combat style, while treating the highly unpredictable Sharingan as secondary support.

Even after awakening the Mangekyō, Shiyu Uchiha had decided to avoid using it unless absolutely necessary. Once used, it would drag him into an endless abyss. As for the Eternal Mangekyō, he doubted whether ordinary people could obtain it at all—it might be an ability exclusive to Indra's reincarnation, considering both current possessors were indeed Indra's reincarnations.

As for himself, his biggest hope was acquiring Hashirama's Cells to restore his ocular power. Only then would he adjust his combat system based upon dojutsu and Susano'o.

Through sheer determination, Shiyu Uchiha learned the basics of chakra extraction by the age of four. However, due to his young body and incomplete mastery of chakra control, his reserves remained extremely limited. Therefore, every day he focused mostly on practicing hand seals and shuriken throwing techniques.

Moreover, seal forming wasn't simply about memorizing gestures; each hand seal needed to synchronize one's willpower with chakra manipulation to qualify as a successful execution—in fact, the latter part was more crucial.

Hand seals were the foundation of 99% of ninjutsu techniques—mastering them made it much easier and faster to learn new skills in the future. More importantly, besides determining jutsu casting speed, they also influenced the actual power output of those techniques.

Even if successfully cast, a ninjutsu technique wouldn't necessarily achieve its full power output—it always fluctuated between peaks and valleys. Only when consistently reaching close to the theoretical maximum damage could one truly be said to have mastered a technique.

And should someone consistently produce peak results, that meant they completely understood the technique—not just practical application but also grasping its underlying theory.

Shuriken throwing techniques were the most effective long-range offensive method for a ninja in their early training. While ninjutsu could attack from afar too, it consumed far more chakra than shuriken throws, making it much less cost-effective comparatively.

Outside of this, whatever time Shiyu Uchiha had left each day went toward basic literacy, reading books, studying ninjutsu theories, and, of course, crucial training for strengthening his mental focus and chakra control through meditation.

Chakra itself was essentially a blend of physical energy and spiritual energy. Though he didn't fully understand how this merging process worked, he knew that through chakra extraction techniques, his body naturally produced chakra.

However, currently limited by his young age and weak constitution, his body could extract only minimal amounts of chakra daily. Worse still, even without actively consuming chakra, it wouldn't accumulate past a certain threshold—as though the body itself imposed a limit, causing excess chakra to disappear naturally.

The total amount of available chakra could only increase gradually along with bodily growth. At only four years old, with such scarce chakra reserves, even practicing the weakest trio-body techniques proved impossible. Thus, he concentrated solely on improving hand seals, refining chakra manipulation skills, and deepening overall chakra comprehension—a metaphorical case of sharpening an axe before chopping wood.

According to what he had read in books, a ninja generally reached the peak of chakra reserves around the age of thirty. Thirty was also considered the last peak of one's vitality in life. After that age, even with the best maintenance, one could only prolong the peak for a few more years, not enhance it further, and eventually start to decline unless they broke through the limits of life itself.

In his previous life, he often saw online claims that chakra cultivation consumed lifespan and potential. However, he had no other choice; in this world, without sufficient strength, he wouldn't even survive the present, let alone plan for the future.

Having seen how dark Konoha eventually became, he knew he would be nothing more than a sacrificial lamb without power.

Besides, the Uchiha clan had its own secret medicinal remedies (traditional family-specific elixirs) which worked quite well. As long as cultivation remained moderate and didn't drain him completely, most issues regarding chakra consumption could be compensated for. There might still be some side effects, but it was definitely worth it.

Didn't Shiyu Uchiha even practice that mental meditation technique that led to his reincarnation?

Although he hesitated for several days before finally deciding, after all, this very meditation method wasn't necessarily the main killer, yet it certainly played a major role. Would he then fear just a minor risk to his potential?

Thankfully, when practicing this meditation method this time, nothing unexpected occurred. It probably helped that Shiyu Uchiha ultimately chose to visualize the pattern of the triple-comma Sharingan.

Although determined, he didn't want to recklessly push himself. His intuition told him so when he was about to meditate again upon viewing the crystal, prompting him to retreat prudently.

Though the benefits weren't immediately apparent at the beginning, Shiyu Uchiha believed in the simplicity of this meditation technique—it must be extraordinary since he had experienced its effects firsthand.

So he made sure to meditate at least once every night before going to bed. Eventually, he noticed it actually improved sleep quality.

After meditating and then falling asleep, he felt particularly refreshed the next day. This was confirmed through comparison, and thus Shiyu Uchiha kept persisting—after all, tangible benefits were the strongest motivation.

Over time, after consistently practicing this meditation for over a year, Shiyu Uchiha gradually accumulated enough progress that, during a fortuitous moment, he discovered the transformation it had unlocked within him.

Compared to before practicing the meditation, he realized his memory and cognitive processing abilities had significantly improved. This was especially evident in studying, covering areas like foundational ninja knowledge and techniques involving hand seals [Ninjutsu casting gestures].

Since then, Shiyu Uchiha adjusted his meditation schedule from once nightly before bed, to twice daily—once before bedtime at night and once again right after waking up each morning.

Practicing this meditation made it easier for him to focus every time he picked up something new or tried to master a skill—basically letting him concentrate completely and learn things twice as fast.

Maintaining it for long periods was extremely tiring. This short-term high efficiency came at the cost of high energy expenditure, but it was completely worth it.

After this discovery, a spark of realization dawned on Shiyu Uchiha. The Uchiha clan's bloodline ability—the Sharingan—was originally an embodiment of Yin Release properties in both chakra and physical body. While spiritual chakra wasn't Yin chakra itself, it was its very foundation.

The first Tomoe granted observation, the second allowed replication, and the third enabled hypnosis. These were all abilities naturally present in individuals with strong spiritual chakra. However, without the Uchiha clan's bloodline, these powers could not manifest as clearly or as powerfully.
