Chapter 1 - Life of a peasant

Cough, cough!

This pain!

The first Daniel- no leon grasped at was his chest. There was a searing powerful pain. When he looked down he saw large clawmarks that was streaked across his chest, they were deep and almost even reached his ribs. But now his chest was slowly regenerating.

What the f-

He looked up from his chest and noticed he was lying on the ground in a dirty alleyway, but he wasnt alone. There were four other people there, all bleeding and lying in different positions. But they had one thing in similar, they all had clawmarks across their bodies.

Suddenly a bunch of memories ran through Daniels mind.

Leon Wright, 19 year old gangster who's part of the White hound gang. He lived in Dharavi Street unit 2 for 2 years now, barely making it by with the money he made from crime, his father had died from lung cancer and his mother went missing when he turned 17, so leon didn't have it best.

Marcus, hank, manny, Thomas...

Those were the names of the dead men who were lying next to him. When he thought of the attacker, he faintly remembered a person.

A thin but muscular man; his hair was shaved very short, and his hair stood erect like spikes.

He's the one who attacked us...

This names felt extremely familiar to daniel but he couldn't quiet put his finger on it. Its like he knew of these places before being transmigrated.

I can't think of anything right now.

Then a voice rang out:

"You! Stop right there!"

Two cops began sprinting towards Leon who quickly got up and began sprinting out the street, to his right he saw a carriage which almost ran him over.

"Watch where you are going!" The driver shouted as he barely managed to stop the horses.

Leon simply kept running through the streets of east borough and trying to get the officers off his tail.

"Don't lose him!" The cop shouted towards his younger assistant as they ran after Leon.

Pant, pant.

Even if Leon was fast, his stamina was kind of a joke. Thanks to adrenaline he managed to run a bit longer.

In his original life, Daniel used to be a artist. He was never really good at many things, this was the first time he felt such an adrenaline rush

Im really running from the cops huh? Couldn't I have been transmigrated into the body of a law abiding citizen?

Eventually he came across a large wall and climbed over it before turning left and then taking a sharp right and back to going left. Soon he managed to escape the cops and sat on a crate taking a breather. He could finally take a break.

All that running... phew.

He tugged at his shirt and looked at his chest which had completely healed. Then he approached a puddle and glanced at his face.

Leon Wright was standing at a height of 1.81 centimeters tall with a skinny build and curly brown hair that was thick and unkempt. His dark brown eyes looked lifeless and his looks average.

Not the prettiest I see. But its not important right now. I need to get to Dharavi Street.

Using Leon's memories daniel walked to Dharavi Street slowly, he was only the lookout for any officers and other gangster that might come after him, and he didn't walk in a straight line either, exchanging routes along the way.

Soon he reached unit 2 floor three, and walked in. He lived specifically in #03-03.

He closed the door behind me as he sat down and let out a sigh.

Wait, the cops will come here sooner or later to look for me!

Leon instantly got up and looked around his shabby apartment. He had a small dinner table with two chairs and a small bed. There weren't many things in the apartment either. It was a very empty apartment. Leon stepped towards his bed and pulled up his mattress and took his savings.

1 pound and 10 soli is all he had to his name. In his original life, Daniel never had a job.

After taking the money he left his apartment and ran out. In the distance cops were approaching unit 2.

I knew it!

After escaping he kept on running until he reached brown bird alley, the place that belonged to the white hounds. He walked up to a 2 floor building and knocked on the door, three long knocks, two quick knocks, three more long knocks and five quick knocks. The door opened up revealing a bronze skinned man with short black hair and black eyes, Arthur.

"Leon? Weren't you and the others in charge of-"

"We got attacked! I dont know who it was but we were attacked! The others were killed and I was the only one who survived!"

Arthur nodded and led leon inside. The place was kind surprisingly clean for a gang base.

I expected it to be more dirty...

Leon followed Arthur silently as they went up to the second floor. Along the way Leon saw his fellow gangsters and nodded and waved like a child.

Knock, knock

"Come in!"

A hoarse voice sounded and Arthur pushed the door opened. The boss, Simon Collins. The one who started the white hound gang. He was 1.94 centimeters tall with brown hair that was tied up in a knot. He had quiet the muscular build too, and a noticeable stubble.

Ultimately he was a drunkard.

"So whats the problem hmm?" Simon asked while staring at leon and Arthur. Leon decided to be the first to speak.

"B-boss! Hank, Marcus, manny and Thomas were killed! We were suddenly attacked by-"

Simon let out a loud exhale and scratched the back of his head.

"Was it the Zmanger gang?"

Whats with this reaction?

"I-i dont know... I was knocked out. When I woke up everyone had clawmarks all over their bodies."

Simon scratched his chin and nodded.

"This is something ill have to deal with then. Leon, do you remember what he looked like?"

Leon told Simon the man's appearance and everything he remembered.

"Sequence 7..."

Sequence 7? Why does that sound familiar... damnit.

"I wont be able to deal with this by myself, Arthur, Leon. Im willing to give you a raise, and in return I ask for your sanity."

Leon's eyes widened for a bit and he clenched his jaw.

"Ill be going out, ill be back tommorow. Meet me at four in the afternoon understand? Both of you"

Leon and Arthur nodded in unison before leaving Simon's office.

Does Simon not care about the fact four of his companions died? Or maybe they were nothing to him.

The white hound gang wasn't that big, and it had approximately 40 members, now four of them were gone.

Leon didn't talk much with Arthur and instead left to get a place to call home.

I need to find a way to get back to earth. There are people waiting for me.

The last thing daniel did before being transmigrated was purchase an antique teacup and drink from it.

No way.

Leon glanced down again and looked at his tattered clothes. He went and bought a cheap linen shirt for 3 soli and black trousers for another 3 soli. After getting the clothes he changed them in some alleyway and then went out looking for a place to stay. At the same time he was thinking about where he was. The capital of Loen Kingdom, backlund. And he was staying in East borough, the most crowded area.

I have to worry about thieves, gangsters, police and everyone else.

Leon let out a sigh and came across Black Palm Street, a street with no gas lamps. Here he rented a one bedroom apartment for four soli, three pence a week. His landlord, Mr. Isaac showcased the one bedroom apartment.

"Welcome, of course, its not the best... but for someone like you it should be perfect"

Isaac gave a forced smile and glanced at Leon. Isaac Curtis was a man in his 50's from Intis, he came to backlund about 6 years ago because of his mistress miss Caroline. He was quiet an arrogant man, and clearly looked down upon people like Leon.

Probably a gangster, he doesn't look like the working type.

Mr. Isaac thought while walking around. There was a tiny kitchen that one could barely move around, a toilet and shower. The basic necessities and nothing extra. Its just like the old apartment, but this one had a couch.

After the small showcase Mr. Isaac left and Leon sat down on the couch while grazing on a piece of rye bread.

I wonder what Simon has in store for me and Arthur tommorow...
