Chapter 32 - your friend

He slowly reached out and pat Leon on the back when he slipped and hit his head on the hardwood floor.

"You alright? Don't be a cry baby."

A soft teasing voice came from the stranger with curly black hair, his hands were calloused from all the hard work he was doing. But he was being incredibly gentle with 10 year old Leon.

"It's fine, the pain will soon dissapear anyway, and it's all going to be a distant memory in the future won't it?"

Leon was walking together with this stranger to school because if was his first day. Churches and charity organizations provided free schools from eight to ten o'clock. So the Wright's decided to enroll him into such a school. There he learned mostly religious things about the god of Steam and Machinery.

"You must be excited, I remember i was pretty happy to go to school when I was your age. That happiness died pretty quickly though."

The stranger walked besides Leon like a guardian. Suddenly the stranger took out a blue rose with red veins across it, it gave off the illusion it had a grinning face. He showed it to Leon with a grin on his face that mimicked the creepy rose.

"Scary right? A friend gave it to me."

The scene changed once more. Leon was lying on his bed staring at the door right infront of his bedroom. The light on the other side of the door flickered open revealing the shadow of someone standing behind the door.

"Leon, I'm here, it's me."

A terrified and stunned young Leon Wright slowly opened his mouth in order to speak but no words came out of it.

It was silent for a moment.

"Leon, open the door. I just want to take care of you, come on... let me in. Together we can-"

The stranger's tone changed to something akin to desperation. He began knocking on the door. Blue thorns were creeping into the bedroom through the tiny opening at the bottom of the door, these thorns moved like snakes, crawling up the walls and around Leon's bed. They gathered around his heart and prodded at his chest trying to get inside.

"This shouldn't be happening."

Leon closed his eyes when the banging got more frantic and hoped that it would stop. But it didn't, the thorns thrashed around the room throwing over a cabinet and tearing the bed into many pieces.

"Who- who are you?"

Leon could almost see the smirk on the figure's face when he asked the question. The thorns went dead still.

"Me? I'm your friend Leon."

...

A wave of nostalgia and familiarity washed over Leon as he took in the bedroom before him. It wasn't empty like the rest of the house, there was a bed and a desk. He was still disoriented from the scenes that went through his mind. They felt incredibly realistic but fake at the same time.

It's possible that someone lives here.

His theory was that someone was staying here, whether legally or illegally was another question.

He called himself my friend, but i can't remember anything about him. I don't know who he could be.

Leon Wright didn't have any siblings so that stranger couldn't be some long lost sibling he doesn't remember. On the desk was a stack of blank papers that were neatly placed by the corner, but in the middle was what appeared to be a pendulum.

Sigh...

Leon's eyes shot up and the stranger was standing by the doorway holding a candle. His heart raced as he quickly assessed his surroundings and looked for an exit.

"I knew you would come here, now... it's time i save you."

Bang! bang!

Leon fired off two shots at the figure that vanished into thin air. His hands shaking with the weapon in hand.

Am I losing it?

The surroundings rapidly changed, Leon was standing on a staircase in a world of black. His heart raced extremely fast with fear and despair.

Staircases appeared all around this strange dimension and seemingly lead to nowhere. The stranger looked confused and angry.

Dark blue glowing eyes and a pitch black body. He was wearing a coat which was the same color as the rest of his figure.

"You have concealed yourself very well."

A female voice came from above, a woman with extremely normal facial features. She was completely barefooted aswell, and her eyes were a ghostly black.

Then, everything felt peaceful. Leon's heart immediately calmed down.

What is this extreme peace im feeling?

She held a tiny worn red notebook in her hand that had some strange writing in a language Leon couldn't understand at all.

The stranger fell to the ground in pain. The surrounding area was dyed in gold and produced a purification effect that seemed to damage the stranger, it didn't last long as the stranger reverted to a past state of being unpurified and decided to summon some sort of strange creature from the Void. It was a giant white rabbit with 6 eyes on each side of it's face and messy fur.

The stranger's body transformed into an thick illusionary liquid attempting to run away. The notebook flipped into another page and the stranger's body slowly formed again.

...

Leon sat on the toilet reading the newspaper casually while taking a dump, he couldn't help but feel like something was off, so he decided to go to the cathedral amidst the raging sea. He clasped his hands together and raised them above his head where he extended his thumbs and slowly pressed against his eyes while imagining of the cathedral.

His mind went afloat and he was standing on the sanctuary. Memories of the woman fighting the stranger flooded his mind as he stood there in a daze.

Another high sequence issue I got involved in. Hôtel Les Saisons Ramenées wasn't enough now this. And my memories of everything that happened were completely deleted, I only regained them when I came up here.

Leon felt incredibly lucky to have this safe space he could jump in anytime something was wrong or he needed to do something.

Who is he...
