Broly hid his Batman armor in a secluded cave and then flew to Kandahar City on the Flying Nimbus.
The CIA had seemingly endless funds, and the address Matt provided was for the best hotel in Kandahar. Broly didn't have to work hard to find the Kandahar Hotel, a landmark building.
Matt had ordered a local yogurt tea and was waiting in the lobby for Broly.
"So you were in Kandahar all along."
Because Broly arrived so quickly, he'd assumed Broly had been in Kandahar before. He led Broly into the elevator and up to the presidential suite on the twentieth floor.
Even though it was the best hotel in all of Kandahar, it still seemed somewhat shabby.
Inside the presidential suite, several fully armed soldiers were already waiting. Some were bored, watching uninteresting television programs, while others were sitting around playing cards.
After entering, Matt clapped his hands to get everyone's attention, then gestured for Broly to sit down. He pulled out a whiteboard and began to explain the requirements of the mission.
"We're going to the Ten Rings' base later to check Tony Stark's physical condition. Scott, you're in charge of this task. Bring all the medical equipment and give him a thorough checkup. Even if he has hemorrhoids, I want to know the shape of them."
A wave of laughter erupted from the crowd. Tony Stark was known for his smooth skin, and it wasn't out of the question that he might fall into the hands of the hungry Pashtuns.
"Everyone, pay attention, don't get into conflict with the Ten Rings. Our mission is only to confirm that Tony Stark is alive. Now, check your equipment. The plane will arrive in twenty minutes, and we'll depart then."
After Matt finished speaking, he pulled Broly into a room and began to explain the situation.
"We need to see Fire Cloud Evil God first."
"What's going on?" Broly asked.
"The CIA has been supporting the Ten Rings all along; their weapons are obtained through our channels. The CIA's plan was originally to use the Ten Rings to contain the Taliban and the East, but they didn't expect them to give America a huge surprise. Now, the director is very embarrassed and is desperately trying to cover up the CIA's cooperation with the Ten Rings. As long as you help him resolve this incident, I can get a direct promotion."
Matt directly revealed the CIA's dealings. He wasn't afraid that Broly would leak their conversation. Conspiracy theories were rampant in the US, and without tangible evidence, it was just a drop in the bucket for the giant that was the CIA.
Obadiah alone couldn't have transported the weapons produced by Stark Industries to Afghanistan and handed them over to the Ten Rings. Each link in this trade chain encountered complex problems and required tremendous energy and power to operate, with the CIA being an indispensable part.
"Fire Cloud Evil God can't control everyone under him."
After fleeing to Afghanistan, to prevent the Ten Rings from collapsing, Fire Cloud Evil God chose to cooperate with the local Pashtun tribes. These Pashtun tribes provided the Ten Rings with funds, manpower, and fresh blood, while the Ten Rings provided the tribes with high-end combat power, protecting them from the exploitation of the Taliban.
This cooperative approach was very successful. The Ten Rings easily established a foothold in the unfamiliar land of Afghanistan and developed rapidly, while these tribes, under the protection of the Ten Rings, were not exploited and plundered by the Taliban.
But the shortcomings were also obvious. The Ten Rings' organization was very loose; what Fire Cloud Evil God could truly control were only the ten or so direct bases, while other tribes only listened to his call, similar to the existence of feudal lords.
"A leader of the Ten Rings named Laza was bought by Obadiah, but when he captured Tony Stark, he surprisingly wanted to force Tony Stark to develop and produce weapons for him."
Laza clearly knew nothing about the modern industrial assembly line. His cave didn't even have a stable power supply, relying on a diesel generator, and his subordinates were a group of illiterate people. Even if they put Tony Stark on an electric chair, he couldn't conjure up a factory.
Without a stable power supply, cutting-edge production equipment, a well-trained production line workforce, and high-quality management personnel, it was impossible to mass-produce modern weapons.
Fire Cloud Evil God, an old monster who had lived from the late Qing dynasty to the present, naturally wouldn't have such a naive idea. He instead valued the relationship with the CIA.
He knew that without the support of the CIA, it would be impossible to contend with the East. He killed the foolish Laza at the first opportunity, then took control of Tony Stark, and ordered the tribes under his command to choose to abandon their bases and retreat when attacked by the US military.
In any case, after negotiating with the CIA, the US military would return these bases to them.
"The negotiations went very smoothly, and Tony Stark was about to be handed over to us." Matt said with a gnashing of teeth; he was the one who led the negotiations. "But this inexplicable cat-demon suddenly appeared, and began to attack the Pashtun tribes under the Ten Rings."
These tribes were already very dissatisfied with Fire Cloud Evil God's killing of Laza, and after the cat-demon appeared, they began to drift apart. They used the excuse that Fire Cloud Evil God could no longer protect their tribes, and plotted to break away from the Ten Rings.
Fire Cloud Evil God, of course, wouldn't be soft. He executed the heads of the two leading tribes and sent out several disciples to find the cat-demon, taking the heads of others to appease the remaining tribal leaders.
"Not long ago, Fire Cloud Evil God's disciple, Crocodile Taishui, died at the hands of the cat-demon."
Matt's face was very serious.
As a collaborator of the Ten Rings, the CIA naturally knew the strength of Fire Cloud Evil God's disciples. Among his disciples were those who were stronger than Crocodile Taishui, but no one could easily kill Crocodile Taishui, who had reached the seventh level of the Golden Bell Cover.
"Because the Eastern martial artists appeared in Afghanistan, Fire Cloud Evil God couldn't take action directly to kill the cat-demon. He used it as a bargaining chip to exchange for Tony Stark, and gave the task of dealing with the cat-demon to us."
Although the CIA was powerful, ordinary agents and soldiers could only die when facing the cat-demon. Matt had thought of Broly at the first opportunity. With Broly's combat ability as demonstrated in Mexico City, taking down the cat-demon shouldn't be difficult.
Broly kept a straight face, trying to maintain his expression. He felt more and more wrong the more he listened. The cat-demon in Matt's words, wasn't that him? But that was clearly the Batman armor, why was it being mistaken for a cat?!
This was an insult to his aesthetics, and to the craftsmanship of Cade Eagle!
"Uh, do you have any photos of the cat-demon?"
Matt shook his head.
"Not long ago, a reconnaissance team from the Navy SEALs witnessed the entire process of him killing Crocodile Taishui, but unfortunately, the photos they took were destroyed by the cat-demon. Now, the US military is already using software to draw the cat-demon's appearance, and we will soon get their finished photos."
